Within half an hour, Sam arrived, diagnosed the issue and cut the line off. The busted pipe was on the city's side, and he advised me that while they can go ahead and fix the issue, it would financially be more beneficial for me to call the city and have them repair it and pick up the cost. Sam cut the non-potable water service off which resolved the issue until the city was able to come out and repair it. Despite Champion giving me a notice ahead of time that there is an upcharge since its afterhours, they only charged me about 160$ to come out and do the work as it was quick. Sam was extremely knowledgeable too and works with integrity, and Christine did an amazing job keeping me informed on the status. Prior to the service, our hot water smelled like sulfur -- but sulfur tests were negative, and the cold water did not have any odor. We're on a well here... the best guess was that the anode rod was causing the sulfur / rotten egg smell in the hot water tank. After installing a Corro-Protech powered anode rod, the issue is gone. No more stinky hot water.

My gut tells me that they treat every visit as if it is after normal hours and price like it is an emergency call. They would not provide me with an hourly rate in the quote.
