Despite the rain they kept running outside to fetch different samples of bricks to see if we could match one I'd brought with me. Then when I found a good match, they were happy to run off a quote, print it out and give it to me with no obligation. Obviously I was going to go to their competitors with this information but they didn't seem to mind one bit - and when I came back to them to haggle, they were quite obliging! Their stock was quite impressive - they had a lot of landscape gardening stuff, not just building materials, so worth a visit if you're doing your garden.

The timber yard is at the front of the store, once you select what you want, a chitty is wrote out for you and you go and pay for your goods. The bigger items, requiring a fork lift truck are located at the rear of the store, with payment being made as the same method as mentioned. The problem is usually with the parking as there are limited spaces, which is compounded if a delivery is being made at the time of your visit. Worth bearing in mind is that Travis Perkins offering the same type of items is only round the corner if you wanted to compare prices or if they did not stock what you were after.

I was shocked at Allerton's price, which was completely ridiculous. They were at least £5,000 more than four of the companies, who all priced roughly the same, even out-pricing Everest, which shocked me. They come out at almost £8,000 more than the others for replacing all the windows and doors. Based on these prices, I decided not to go ahead with them, as I don't think they can justify their prices, regardless how good they claim to be. They use Rehau windows, which a lot of companies use, so the only thing they can use for price justification, is their quality of installation.

The company falsley claimed to be registered with professional bodies. Money was demanded for work that had not been done. Work undertaken was of very poor quality. The serious allegations against Mersey Builders was upheld. The company was fined. As of 19th Jan 2022…read moreEsquire has still not given a new completion date, work is incomplete and there are substantial defects. Throughout Esquire has been aloof and has at times ghosted us. Poor planning and skill has dogged the work. Wrong windows installed (since replaced by Esquire), damage leaving us without heat for 3 days, damage to lighting circuits and more. Most recently the 2 new radiators installed have been connected to the wrong side of the boiler. Esquire are currently ghosting us again.
