The lamb inn pub in Blaenwaun is like a few pubs in this area, a proper local pub with great hitory…read moreand character. You can spend hours chatting to the local, and soon feel part of it! Some time ago this pub changed hands, and unsure if did food before but it certainly does now! The food in this pub is absolutly fantastic!! The prices are also fantastic and the quality is just astounding! the steaks are always perfect, the best steaks ive ever tasted, totally melt in your mouth! I just dont know how the chef who's also the landlord does it. He and his wife i think prepare all the food in this tiny kitchen to one side. You also get loads, instead of asking if you want chips or new potatoes say with your steak you just get both, big bowls of them. Big bowl of mixed seasonal, and also the madest vegetables the likes of which ive never seen.. last time we had some vegetable that only grows in the wash of the norfolk broads!! amazing! The fish choices are also brilliant, and always totally fresh, and vary from day to day, depending what was caught i guess. With things like oysters for starters. All the starters are to die for, the garlic mushrooms are superb, and the bree well a light coating of batter, almost a whole of those triangles you get bree as, with an amazing cranberry sause.. beautiful. You will find that you will have to leave a some, theres just so much to taste and try, and it feels slightly imbarrising to leave as it is soooo tasty. Some epeople may say this is a bad thing having too much but all i can say is its brilliant, and they dont seem to mind that you leave stuff. you have to check out this pub for food! both prices and food is top notch!!!! The walls have loads of mad stuff on them, like a massive turtle shell, old pictures of various local places, the cielings are low.. all of which adds to a real cozy feeling! One thing to remember, is that you cant pay by card, so take cash! The landlord however is such a nice guy, and last time i forgot cash he was like, don't worry just pop in tomorrow and py then!! So verdict. You must check this place out, its totally tasty!

Room & stay: Stayed here for B&B. We had a lovely…read morecomfortable room, nice flat screen tv, but no iron or hairdryer. Also the packet of 3 custard creams gave it a slightly cheap "not quite there yet" feel. The rooms overlook the high street in Llangadog, and unfortunately the traffic noise is pretty awful from very early on in the morning (from about 5.00am), which is a killer if you are a light sleeper like me. The double bed however was great and very comfortable. Food: The starter (pate) and mains (steak & chips) in the restaurant were good quality, but way too expensive for what it was. £18 for the steak!! The puddings we had were average. Sticky toffee pudding was ok but the berry cheesecake was a really horrible texture. The service in the evening was friendly, but on the wrong side of laid back, to the point of nonchalant disorganisation. We had pre-booked for 7pm but when we got there, we were told that we couldn't sit in the restaurant as there were only two of us and they only had group tables! We sat in the bar in the end, which wasn't a problem, but we did think "what's the point of booking?" Starters came without cutlery, and 20 mins after ordering our puddings, the waitress came and said "sorry for the delay, but your desserts are being made now" but without telling us why! Breakfast in the morning was a brilliant redemption- fabulous cooked breakfast with delicious sausages and thick cut bacon, and great attentive service. Much better.

The Ferry Inn is a very popular gastropub in an enviable position on the River Teifi. (The views…read moreare fantastic.) It has a cosy bar area, three inside eating areas with river views, two outside eating areas and a terrace to really enjoy the view. They are happy to accommodate diners with dogs (there are also dog-free areas) and it's very child-friendly (there's a children's menu, and some tables seat eight). The menu offers starters at £7.50-£7.95, mains around £18 (except fish and seafood at £24 and steak at £29), desserts at £7.50, as well as a choice of ice creams and sorbets (£3.50-£7.50). They offer a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We chose Sea Bass served with Lemon Parsley Caper Butter, Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Garden Salad with Buckwheat & Broad Beans with Honey Mustard Sauce & New Leaf Microgreens (£24); and the one of the vegetarian options: Glamorgan Crumble a tower of Leeks, Carrot, Breadcrumbs & Mature Cheddar Cheese, Garlic & Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Glebelands Salad, Quinoa, Bean, Vegetable Salad & Fresh Herb White Sauce (£19.95). We followed this with Dark Cherry & Marzipan Bake Vanilla Ice Cream £7.50. Overall, the food was very good, except that the seabass was (disappointingly) over done and therefore falling apart. I always think it's a little odd serving a cold side salad on the side (or in my case underneath) a hot dish, although overall the flavours did work well together. The Glamorgan Crumble was very tasty. Service was a little manic: some staff seemed to run around all evening, and we were served by four different people during the evening. (One was very nice, two were a bit brusque.) They were busy, but we had booked (and were expecting) a table in the downstairs area with a river view, but were shown to a different part of the restaurant area. There were, however, a number of reserved tables which remained empty through the evening, so it seems like they had a few no-shows. Overall we had a nice evening: with two glasses of wine, the bill came to £75 for two, excluding service. It's firmly worth four stars, and of course you're paying for the location, but at these prices, getting the fish right and calmer service would land a five.
