Best destination for kayaking - sheltered but adventurous. Guided tour helped with complex island passages.

So this review will be a little different... all of the other reviews saying how fun the rafting is…read moreare correct. It is an absolute blast... Having said that, being in the tidal bore is a contact sport. It's possible to fall out of the boat. And on our trip, my 14-year-old daughter fell out on the largest wave of the day along with two others on that side of the raft. When that happens, like in white water rafting, everyone on the boat participates in the rescue. Luckily my daughter is a good swimmer... we were actually more concerned about the two other ladies as our guide JD maneuvered the boat so we could full everyone back in, When my daughter got back in she had cut up both her legs and one of the wounds was bleeding pretty well. Almost immediately the lookout boat came and gave my daughter first aid for her cuts right there. Then when we got back to shore (this all happened right near the end of the ride) one of their staffers who was also a paramedic treated her cuts, which thankfully were superficial but bled well because they were on her calves. I mention all of this because this is an activity that while fun, can be dangerous. And it was so impressive that when something happened Tidal Bore had staff on hand both in the water and on shore to handle it. They could not have been more professional. There were other companies out on the water but I did not see any other first aid boats (I'm not saying they didn't exist but every other boat I saw out there was rafting, not watching). This is the company you want to do this activity with. They gave us a great time, and took care of our daughter when the going got a little tough. I would give them ten stars if I could. JD was a pro's pro, and both the first aid rafter and the paramedic guide were the best (I wish I could remember their names). I don't know if when we will be back to Nova Scotia, but when we are we will raft the tidal bore again, and it will be with the best prepared, most professional company there is, Fundy Tidal Bore Adventures.

What an amazing trip! We went at the 5:45 pm (17:45) trip and went on the 2 hour excursion. You then make a short walk down to the receded bay to start the adventure. We were so lucky to have Tessa as our guide! She is a geologist and taught us so much about the rocks/formations we passed and made sure we had such a great time! When we hit those waves our raft was more like a tub it was so filled with water, but it was hilarious. After you get back the team is ready with hot showers, snacks and hot chocolate. As a side note - if you didn't want to wear your own shoes during the trip, they have heaps from those people left behind. Understandable, I left mine too after the amazing time in the water and the mud sliding. Will update with pics when they send us the link. Worth every cent!

I have done many guided sea kayaking trips and Nova Shores knows how to do it right. Nova Shores…read moreprovides participants with a lot of extra gear that most places do not. This is extremely helpful if you are traveling because it cuts down on what you have to bring, but it is also helpful if this is your first time kayaking. The boots that they provide are great and I highly recommend them. While you do not have to step into the water a lot, they will keep you feet warm if they get wet. They also have some jackets and gloves depending on what time of year you go out. The kayaks and paddles were all in good repair, and I saw all the safety equipment I would expect to see with a trip of this nature. Our guide Liam was very kind and funny. He added to the quality of the trip because of his knowledge of the geology and local tribal lore about the Bay of Fundy. Liam also provided good instruction about kayaking and made sure that the group was safe and successful. Now the location is what makes this trip amazing. We went on the high tide paddle which I would highly recommend. When we paddled out, you were able to paddle amongst the rocks of the three sisters, go into natural coves and amphitheaters and even two sea caves. It was great fun to be able to paddle through the arch at high tide as well. At the "midway" you make it to a beach where you are able to get out and we enjoyed a bowl of chili and some great snacks. While you are on the beach the tides turn and start flowing out so as you head back you see the speed at which the tides flow out of the Bay of Fundy. Areas that you previously kayaked through are now unaccessible because of the change of water height, so you see it through a whole new lens. The tidal change actually gives you a push back to where you put in, so the paddling is even easier on the way back in. The scenery here is unbelievable and we saw a bald eagle soaring overhead on our trip. Nova Shores puts together a great adventure.and I would return to take one of their longer trips as well. Thank you to the Nova Shores team for making our trip to Advocate Harbor special.

I learned so much about the mythology, geology, and ecology of this foggy corner of the earth, but I was most impressed by the good-natured warmth of character that emanates from every single person that works for this kayak tour company. They stoke contagious good humour and an inspired curiosity about the earth and all its creatures.

Be prepared to get wet in places you didn't even know you had, and definitely don't wear anything that you can't do without. Don't worry about trying to wear water-wear or protective gear because Adventure Tours will provide you with full rain-gear, rubber boots, life-jacket and a helmet upon your arrival. All you need to worry about is holding and trying not to swallow too much water :) You'll want to call in advance to find out when is a good time to go. Apparently they can determine the size of the waves based on the fullness of the moon - the fuller the moon, the crazier the rafting experience. Chances are that your boat will not flip over, however, there's a fair chance that somebody may fall out, this happens frequently and is not a big deal. In addition to the rafting you'll also have a chance to go mud-sliding, where you'll get ridiculously dirty and have a great time. After the rafting and mudslinging is over and you've worked up an appetite, Adventure Tours provides you with a BBQ and beverages, and you have a chance to sit down, relax and dry, or if you prefer, go for a dip in their swimming pool. You're guaranteed to have a great time!
