At the breakfast orientation at the Hard Rock Cafe
Karen W.

The breakfast orientation on our first full day in Honolulu was well organized. They had us meet at the Hard Rock Cafe at 7:30 AM probably so we could book some tours with them that day. However, we have been to Hawaii many times and always had good thoughts about their vacation packages being reasonably priced and all inclusive. We went through our travel agent, Galaxy Travel and our agent got the package from Pleasant Holidays which included hotel, airfare and car rental. We were happy with the hotel and airfare, however the car rental company was the pits but that is in a separate review. The breakfast buffet was good which included everything but fruit. It was a beautiful location and when we arrived we took a photo at the Hard Rock Cafe which we paid $20 for. Then when we were led to our seats, Hawaiian performers from the Polynesian Cultural Center were performing on stage. What a pleasant surprise and the speaker, Jackie was very thorough in explaining everything about the tours and they kept the presentation to an hour. If you are new to the islands, it will be worth your while to consider some of the tours they present for Oahu.

We understood transportation was included. It is not. After paying 312.92 they want 70.00 more for transportation. Don't book with them

We learned about Honolulu and Hawaiʻi's history, but what made this tour special was his message of unity: regardless of our color or background, we are one human family. He encouraged us to learn about the different cultures that helped shape our world and appreciate their contributions. His message about caring for the land, which sustains us all, was a reminder that taking care of our surroundings is also taking care of each other. He even connected the histories of the cultures represented in our tour group, making the experience personal and inspiring. You guys need to give this man a raise! AKA is an incredible asset, and we left with more than facts--we left with a deeper appreciation for Hawaiʻi and one another. Our only regret? We didn't get a picture with him! The biggest highlights for us were the Byodo-In Temple and the Dole Plantation. We were originally going to drive ourselves to these places, but we were so glad we ran into the vendors on the street instead. Some of the stops didn't quite meet our expectations, but for the price (especially with the discount), it was well worth it. However, the real heartbeat of the tour wasn't even the sites--it was Neo and Ryan. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the island, and their presentation was filled with heartwarming honesty, real facts, and no sugar-coating. They made sure to include everyone in the conversation, which showed such genuine care for the guests. We absolutely loved them and would tour with them again on any other adventures. I highly recommend taking a tour with Neo and Ryan--they will absolutely make your time worthwhile! Love from L. T. and family.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an incredible ocean adventure in Hawai'i. Great service, beautiful wildlife, and an outstanding crew!

I actually saved money by booking through them compared to online, because they fully explained the differences in tours/tiers and picked the cheapest ones that satisfied our criteria. It was clear that they knew what they were talking about. Ideally, you should call Shaka before you get to Hawaii and plan your vacation early... but we didn't. Luckily, we stopped by in person and Shaka Tours saved our vacation. They planned our whole itinerary, got us tickets to things that looked closed, and advised us against packages that we came in considering. It actually felt like a tourist stop itself, because they explained the local geography and customs using google maps and videos, and suggested can't-miss, free, no-reservation needed stuff like the Diamond Head Hike. They were easy to reach by text/call at any time, even when we woke up very early because we wanted to make the most of the day. The tours they did book for us were all great with friendly guides. I can't recommend them enough!

On the kauai tour the amount of mistakes regarding Hawaiian history was ridiculous. First of all there was no annex but rather a take over initiative by the USA and British plantation owners. The kauai tour claims that the Hawaiian people voted by 93% to annex with USA. Lies! They stated the queen agreed to the annex with USA .The Queen did not leave her monarchy amicably. No....rather she stepped aside involuntary for the good of the Hawaiian people and to prevent further blood shed. Yes Kauai and all of the Hawaiian islands are absolutely beautiful but they the Hawaiian people should charge us, the United States of America rent for any purchased land acquired. Sadly I saw the vast difference in the way the Hawaiian people live today and the way foreigners live on acquired land in Hawaii. No Hawaiian should have to pay for health care or education. I'm grateful that the Hawaiian people invite us to visit their beautiful islands though I'm doubley mad at the USA for basically ruining the landscape there. No to Shaka dummies Guides! They need to update their history lesson with facts not racist misinformation!

My partner loves turtles, which is why we were so eager to find a memorable experience during our next trip. We found the Living Ocean Tours Turtle Canyon experience through Viator and paid about $80/person which we felt was incredibly reasonable. We saw prior reviews stating that the best time to go is early morning, so we decided to take the first boat out. This was honestly a pro tip as we were not only one of three small groups on the boat, but were also the first boat out to the canyon making the experience feel intimate and memorable! We met the amazing crew who were so knowledgable, friendly, and safety-savvy. The ride itself took about 15 minutes each way. Once we arrived, we felt totally confident swimming out with the provided snorkels, life jackets, and flippers after completing the safety lecture. The crew also emphasized protection of wildlife, instructing us to do our very best to stay 10 ft away or more from the turtles. At times, the turtles would come close to us without our knowledge, so we were also instructed on how to gently swim away when this occurred to maintain safe distance. We spent about an hour and a half total in the water, which was more than enough time to see loads of turtles. When it was time to return, we enjoyed complimentary snacks and drinks on the boat. Thank you Living Ocean Tours for providing us with the experience of a lifetime! We would recommend Living Ocean Tours to friends, family, or anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, and immersive turtle viewing experience!
