Great stay in Fair Haven, NY, at this quaint, clean, tastefully decorated old historic inn located on Little Sodus Bay. We arrived for a wedding and stayed one night. Owner, professional and friendly, welcomed us and carried our bags to our room. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean, high quality towels, very comfortable bed. The outdoor pavilion was tastefully decorated for the wedding. Servers at wedding were attentive and friendly. We are excited to return to spend several nights and enjoy their restaurant. You'll love your stay here. read more

Fair Haven is a nice town with a 1910 historic hotel well named Pleasant Beach. The restaurant deck overlooks Little Sodus Bay. The menu is pretty extensive. So I started with spritzer m ordered the coconut fried shrimp w dipping sauce. The shrimp was fried perfectly n the sauce was the perfect dip! Instead of seafood which was plentiful on the menu I opted for the red Reuben sandwich. The sandwich was good n huge so I brought half of it home w my side of crispy onion rings. The staff are friendly and efficient. So if you feel like spending the day in this quaint town n having dinner at the hotel afterwards you wont be disappointed. I skipped dessert because I was too full, but I'll be back before the snow flies! read more

We got married here in June. Tom and I are so happy with the attention to detail from everyone here at PBH. They treated us like family. We rented out the entire hotel for our families... little kids too. The food was yummy. The cocktails were just perfect. The hotel and restaurant is right on the bay which is kept very clean. The vintage rooms were so cute and linens are immaculate. And every room has its own full bathroom and AC. We had a wonderful weekend here and will return again and again. read more

We had a good time sitting outside in the patio. The place has a hotel and a private beach by the lake. You can also engage yourself in some water activities that this place offers. We had ordered Chicken in croissant Veggie omelette Chicken and Belgian waffle Hadock rueben sandwich Tater tots Monte cristo Millionaires Pro. The chicken in croissant was very tasty. I found the items a bit pricey as compared to their taste. I got stung by a bee and it was hurting, but the waitress kept giving me ice to ease off the pain. read more

What a find! Excellent food in a beautiful setting. Service was excellent. I sat on the patio overlooking Little Sodus Bay and enjoyed the veggie burger and fries with a spiked lavender lemonade. We decided to take a girls day trip to Fair Haven NY. We are originally from Tompkins County area, so we had no idea of what Fair Haven had other than the beach there. But we are glad we decided on Pleasant Beach Hotel. It had food and lodging , a winery within walking distance, and a nice view of the lake and the sunset with wonderful! The staff and owner were great and accommodating to our needs and lack of Fair Haven knowledge. If you are a of towner Like us and needing a get away. please stop here you won't regret it. Love this place, but they advertised Sunday brunch on their website, when we got there on a beautiful Sunday morning, we discerned they no longer serve brunch! Still a lovely spot and there was a singer also, which was really enjoyable. Food was very good and the view and ambience is perfect. read more

PBH was a fantastic experience! We went on a beautiful Friday evening to enjoy dining on the deck. The place was packed but everyone was incredibly pleasant and accommodating. We ordered drinks (and an appetizer, per state mandates) at the bar and enjoyed making new friends while we waited for our table. We were seated on the deck and had a breathtakingly beautiful view of the sunset while we enjoyed our delicious meal. I ordered scallops scampi and my friend enjoyed the chicken parm. Everything came out hot and fresh and cooked to perfection. The gluten free pasta was actually really delicious and not crumbly like I've experienced at other restaurants. We chatted with the owner Tim and had his niece Michelle as our server. They were gracious hosts, along with support from server Eric and hostess Michelle. It truly felt like we were on vacation and we were so close to home. Unbeatable ambiance, tasty food, fabulous staff made for a truly wonderful experience. Looking forward to heading back to check out the Sunday bloody mary bar soon!! read more

I'm reviewing purely from the dining perspective. It gets packed on Sundays, but you are still seated quickly. The wait staff seems very nice, and there's live music on Sundays, which is a little too loud making it hard to have a conversation, but has been very good the last two times I've been here. The boat docks have a lot of space on them, and we're very easy to tie up at, with lots of space between boats so you don't have to worry about hitting the one next to you. The fish tacos, which are the only thing I've gotten since I enjoyed them so much the first time, are AMAZING. I don't even like fish and they're some of my favorite food ever. They're a little sweet, with grilled fish, something like coleslaw, and MANGO (which I never would have thought would be good but really brought the whole taco together). I recommend adding some lemon. My family agree with me on them being delicious, and my grandparents ordered the fish bites as a main course instead of an appetizer, which they say are very good as well. It was a little expensive, but very good. read more

The only this going for this place is the patio view of the lake inlet. The waitress we had was rude, confrontational and stupid. When the table next to us complained to Bonnie, one of the owners absolutely nothing was done about the issues. This is a must drive by and go to the next restaurant, since you will not be missing out on any good food and you will pay less elsewhere for better quality. read more

We had a party of four, three of us ordered the rib-eye steak and the forth person ordered ribs. The order took one hour to be served. The three steaks were inedible - very tough and barely warm. The sides were not very good either. The ribs were reasonable, by far the best thing we got. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Great place! Great view and friendly people. The menu is more than adequate -- careful navigation of the menu will not disappoint - try burger & sweet potato fries, wings, mussels in wine sauce, & a good draft beer. As for the occasional overwhelmed waitress - realize that good help is hard to find in the Empire State. read more

Awesome food, awesome staff, awesome view of the bay from the deck! Not a finer place on Fair Haven bay for drinks and food!

I found the owners to be very accommodating. Several members of our extended family stayed there for a funeral. The rooms were lovely, the hosts were gracious, and both breakfast and the luncheon we had there were fine. I was impressed - and I generally am not easy to impress. read more

The water view and the indoor decor are great. We sat on the deck around mid afternoon for drinks and early lunch. The food was okay. I had the seafood gratin (shrimp was overdone, but the crab and scallops were good). The vegetable side was small and cold. My husband had the turkey Reuben which was good, but he ordered fries and got chips instead. We finished eating, and stayed for drinks with a friend. We were asked to leave the deck if we wouldn't be ordering more food. It was then difficult to track down and pay for our prior meal. The staff seemed very friendly with the locals, but curt with us. I will not be going back next time I'm in fair haven. read more

Wonderful can't say enough. About this hidden gem .First the hostesss came out to greet us as we were leaning our bicycles up against a fence . The views fantastic . Throughout our entire meal we were treated like special guest . Thank you so much for your hospitality... read more

We've been going there for years and have always had a great time and great meal. Last night was much different. We ordered Calamari to start. It came out tepid and soggy! I'm not one to send food back so, it sat there. Our salads were served on plates much too small which meant most of it fell out some onto the deck. We placed our meal orders and minutes later our server returned telling us the chef did not have the ingredients so, select something else. I "settled" for Chicken Parm. It was THE WORST attempt at this classic Italian dish! The chicken was overdone, tasteless and tough! The mozzarella was only partially melted and laid on the chicken like a used sponge. I'm convinced the sauce was out of a jar as it had that "commercially made" taste to it. No parmesean cheese was on it or offered. I ate just a bite or two and quit. My wife ordered a bouillabaisse dish, she too ate only a small part of it. This was our anniversary date, we've done this for several years. I was extremely dissapointed in the chef's abilities. I wonder if their real chef actually showed up or, had the night off. We really enjoy the resturant and view. I'm hesitant on going there for dinner, again. Maybe just drinks on the deck. This is not the PBH we knew. read more

Pleasant Beach is awesome. It used to be one of many resort-type places in Fair Haven back in the day, and the decor and atmosphere really speak to that - "junktiques," as they're referred to on the menu, abound. It's very cozy. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, there's a beautiful view of the inlet, even when the weather forces you to eat inside instead of on the deck. The food is quite good as well. The homemade potato chips with beer dip are an excellent appetizer, although the last time I was there the beer dip seemed a bit blander than it has been in the past. For an entree, I'd recommend the crab cake sandwich. On my last visit, I really irritated everyone I was with because I couldn't shut up about how good it was. (I guess that's a good problem to have.) Dessert was great, too. I had the lemon cake, which tasted excellent and had the perfect texture - incredibly light and airy. The place is also pretty good for holding events. They were very accommodating and not exorbitantly priced. I had a graduation party there a while back and they did it quite well, although they don't officially close off the dining room, so by the time the party was winding down we wound up with some random people dining in the middle of it. read more

What a treat! Stopped Saturday for lunch with our Port Bay neighbors, Bonnie and Ron, and were treated by an amazing view, friendly hosts, a tasty assortment of beverages and an amazing lunch. Michelle suggested the fish Rueben with the promise she would buy it if we didn't like it.... well she knew her stuff and we were happy to add it to our bill! The other lunches were outstanding as well. What a truly relaxing and pleasurable experience! Don't pass up on a visit to this hidden gem! Bruce and Patty Bolger, Bonnie and Ron E. read more

Well, what a horrendous experience at Pleasant Beach Hotel in Fairhaven! 6 of us went for Sunday brunch and had one of the worst experiences ever. We were there when they opened and several parties were seated at the same time. We didn't get our drink orders taken for 30 minutes and several more before food orders were taken. We waited an hour and a half watching others finish their meals and new costumers getting their meals and still no food. The owner walked by and my sister flagged him down. He told us our food would be out in 5 minutes and to just relax. Not relax and enjoy the day, relax and chill the f out! Both my sister's and my head spun on him and exclaimed "Excuse Me!?" He again to said to relax and my sister lost it. Asked how much for the flight of mimosas and the owner told her to leave. Then he turned to us and said she had too many mimosas. That was the final straw! We all got up left and he practically threw us all out. I turned to the owner and told him he doesn't know how to talk to customers. He responded he's been doing this for years he knows what to do. NO YOU DON'T!!! Not for one f'ing minute does he know customer service. I've been to the PB countless time while growing up here and when visiting. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

A group of us spent a long weekend at Pleasant Beach Hotel, and had a fantastic time. The inn is a charming mix of old and new - historic pressed-tin hallways lead to rooms filled with antiques but which also feature really comfortable Sleep Number beds. The restaurant was comfortable, with a wide range of great choices, and the service was very friendly and helpful. The views from the deck are lovely, and even better when paired with one of their amazing Bloody Marys. It was honestly one of the most relaxing weekends I've enjoyed in years - I really felt like I unplugged. read more

I just discovered this place yesterday and, while I did not eat any food there and can't speak towards the quality of the restaurant, I can say that this is a fantastic place to sit outside on a beautiful day and have a cocktail or three. They were nice enough to open the bar 30 minutes early for me and my friends and proceeded to ply us with some very well made cocktails while we watched the sailboats in the bay. The make a very good Manhattan and (surprisingly) one of the best mojitos I've ever had. Their drink prices were very reasonable considering the beautiful location but I found the appetizers we ordered to be very expensive for what we got. Nonetheless, this is an amazing place to while away a sunny afternoon. read more

I've lived in the surrounding area for over 6 months and was excited to try Pleasant Beach. The venue is great. It smells like an authentic cabin/cottage when you walk in, the walls are decked out in antique snow/lake accessories (snowshoes, skis, fishing nets, canoes, etc), the deck has an amazing view. The staff was very friendly and they have a good menu with a wide array of dinner entrees, lunch choices, and drinks. Pleasant Beach Hotel - Picturesque view - Hotels Near Me - Fair Haven, New York

What I posted on Facebook: Had a great meal at a hotel/restaurant in Fair Haven NY, which is on the east coast of Lake Ontario. Fair Haven is a big fishing town. The name of the hotel/restaurant is the Pleasant Beach Hotel. Built in 1910, renovated and modernized but with a lot of old world charm. It overlooks a long bay, which is sheltered from Lake Ontario. Rod Serling was a regular there (Original Twilight Zone, for all you under 30 folks) and has signed the guestbook. Menu was extensive, great seafood appetizers- 6 jumbo and I do mean jumbo, freshly cooked and chilled shrimp for 12 bucks. Other food excellent and reasonable. A nicely arranged bar inside and deck dining outside. Staff were chatty, helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back! peter manzi read more

I never leave bad reviews but this experience was unbelievable. I saw what looked like an amazing place to stay the night before my wedding!!! I met the owner nd told her I wanted her largest room and one next to it. I told her we would be up by 5 am to get ready for the wedding and she said "that is fine as long s you respect others". I agreed to this. Paid my 50% deposit. I told her I was celiac and stated we would like to do our rehearsal dinner there. She told me it would be no problem and to call a day or 2 in advance with numbers of People. 2 days before, I called and told her a time and a number of people. I reminded her I was celiac, gluten free. She literally said " gluten free that's on you". I told my bridesmaid and she said maybe I misunderstood so she called... And asked for the owner Bonnie. Bonnie LAUGHED at her and told her "gluten free is on you and I already spoke to the bride". Due to it only being 2 days before the wedding and us not being from that area my fiancé stated, lets just bring food for you and if you have to you can eat in the room. We arrived and told the waitress I was celiac and brought food. She was so nice and said that was completely fine. Bonnie and her husband stared at me the entire dinner from the bar. My bridesmaid stared at them back. We then go to check in and she tells me my room was the same but the other room she moved upstairs. Due to her changing the rooms and her knowing my sister has kids with her she all of a sudden demands my sister get a 2nd room and I reminded her she said one room was fine with a blow up mattress, which we brought. I then reminded her we wanted rooms next to each other due to the morning and getting ready. She scolded me in front of my entire wedding party, stating "5 am is extremely early and maybe you should not have people in there then." And went on to say, "you better not disturb other guests.". The morning of my wedding the 2 men she changed my sisters room for were up by 4 am. I heard them as I was waking. My makeup artist was outside by 415 WITH both men. We all tried to be respectful and keep it down. I asked the gentleman that if we got to loud to let us know. They said they were leaving to go fishing so no one else would be on the 1st floor with me. I thought everything was going good and we were respectful. The owner Bonnie, was very nasty in her comments leaving. And I STILL THANKED HER. She nor her husband should be owners of a hotel. If she did not like me that is fine, I tried to be respectful and she should have been the same. I will state that the room was beautiful but the bed was very old and sank in the middle. My sister said the same about her bed upstairs. 4 people who ate the food there got sick. I wish what I thought was a utopia was but is was a mirage. My now husband and I said "every year we would stay there on our anniversary." But we NEVER will stay there again! read more

terrible service waited 20 mins for someone to come over and just take our drink order, i had to get up and ask the hostess for a waitress. not busy whatsoever, after another 5 min someone finally came and took our drink orders, 8min later we received our drinks, the waitress dropped off the drinks I caught her before she was able to slip away to put in our appetizer order. another 30 min later we got our app and finally ordered our meals although we knew what we wanted before even receiving our drinks. When Harborfest comes to Oswego with its apocalyptic hoards of shirtless, hooting, semi-literate cheap beer enthusiasts and public urinators, I will lock up my just-off-Bridge-Street summer apartment and flee to Fairhaven, West Central New York's answer to Rivendell. By far the fairest haven to be had in Fairhaven is the Pleasant Beach Hotel. I haven't eaten dinner here. But I have relaxed on the wrap-around balcony with a good bottle of wine, watching a summer storm roll in off Lake Ontario (until the mosquitos drove me inside). I have also slept later than I should have in their deliciously comfortable beds, washed my face with clean, cool water from the retro tap by the sink, and enjoyed conversation with the hard-working, friendly couple who own the place. Turns out the gentleman grew up in Florida, one town south of my home town. We had the same pediatrician. Small world. Great hotel.
