Don't come here expecting a Safeway/Giant type of experience. This one level lower, like Food Lion. That isn't a bad thing, but the selections are not the same as those stores and I appreciate that. Sometimes, you don't need all that. The staff has been friendly and helpful to me. Always courteous. The patrons too! I have a blast every time I come to this location it's as if I'm a kid in a candy store. I come here to get stuff for friends and colleagues. The collards and beans are well seasoned. Some of the workers aren't the friendliest and are a bit slow, while others are both friendly and more efficient. Prices are a little bit high but you get what you pay for. May add pictures later because we usually get our food to go even though there's a couple of small tables to sit down and eat. I think there's 4 tables near the entrance/exit. It's a convenient store in the middle of nowhere but it's worth the occasional trip out of our way.

The wine selection is also extensive and delicious. There is an emphasis on Carolina wines here, and I think that is really important. As for people thinking Harris Teeter is expensive? This was an especially nice touch that I haven't experienced at other Food Lion stores. I was even more impressed because it's probably a really BO-RRING job - yet her smile and friendly voice made us feel as if we were the first people she was welcoming instead of (probably) the two hundredth or more. Really disappointed in my Food Lion…read more On Sunday I ran across the street to pick up a couple of items, I saw there were some "managers special" on chicken. Cool! Throw some chicken on the grill for Father's Day- I got home only to discover the chicken was ...well, let's say less than fresh! The smell was nauseating. What really disappointed me was that the four legs were "triple plastic wrapped", perhaps to keep down the smell in the store. If this is common practice for Food Lion I definitely won't shop in your meat department again. Disappointed in Clayton.
