I stayed at this dump for a whole month on a business trip and it made me want to quit my job. A hybrid of a hotel and an apartment, Huerfanos 547 is good at neither and boasts a staff only capable of being rude and doing the bare minimum. This may be annoying but it's ultimately tolerable, however the real problem lies with the building itself, which is constantly falling apart with an endless stream of structural problems. First, there were about 6 water cuts during my stay, these would last entire nights or mornings, sometimes with warning ahead of time, sometimes it would just be a little surprise to wake up to. There are large water bottles for sale at the front desk, suspiciously enough. Shortly after a water cut the gas gets cut, no warning, no explanation. When I asked at reception what was going on the receptionist very aggressively informs me it's gone for everyone and there's no idea on when it'll work again. Don't know what I did to deserve that but most interactions with the staff involved sighing and eye-rolling. I eventually find out from a resident it's because an apartment had caught fire in one of the buildings so they cut the gas. Not jus to the affected building but to all four of them. The gas cut ends up lasting a week. Then, just before the gas came back their messing about with the gas valves results in problems with the water pipes that causes a very loud screeching sound to come from the walls whenever someone in the building uses water. So as you can imagine it would happen all day and night. This eventually had an effect like Chinese Water Torture. It was also quite hard to fall asleep to and would then wake me various times during the night. I must have spoken to the staff and eventually the administration about this at least five times and they did nothing about it. This started around the middle of May and from what I've been informed by residents it's still going on now in June. it's just one problem after the other with this place, it's never functional or comfortable. Coming home to this place became something I dreaded after a long day of working. I've never felt actual anger at any accommodation before but this place makes my blood boil just remembering the mean lazy staff and frustrating living conditions. Avoid, there's other cheap places nearby that can't possibly be worse. Note - This place has many names but it's all the same thing, so be careful. Altura Suites, Lastarria Suites and Condominio Infinito are all the same place so beware. read more

I wasn't expecting this to be anything special but turned out to be far worse. The room was dark and dank, with the only view from my window being the grey wall of the hotel next door. The staff were indolent and generally rude. The area at least was nice but alternated between hipster tourist chic and extreme poverty. The worst part was that we were unable to sleep well a single night during our stay. There was a near-constant loud shrill coming from the walls, sometimes lasting for minutes, sometimes for seconds. I know it doesn't sound that bad but it really starts to drive you mad after a while, like listening to a loud mosquito in the dark for hours or having really bad tinnitus. Every night was a struggle to get to sleep (even with earplugs) and then I would just be woken at around 5AM. The staff reacted like we were just being fussy foreigners and basically shrugged it off. One morning I decided to follow the sound to see if I could find where it was coming from. It led me down the hallway to a small room next to the elevators with access to water pipes. My husband realised this sound must then be caused by bad water pressure. I later went to let the staff know about this and they once again showed no concern. This made me quite angry but at this point we were leaving that evening so I decided to stop trying to fix it. Overall I would recommend staying away, while the neighbourhood can have its moments and Santiago is full of great places, this is a horrible place that will just sour your whole experience of the city. read more

Who needs water, anyway? Not you, hopefully! I came here two weeks ago. I arrived on a Monday, saw there was a water cut planned for Wednesday night to Thursday morning, so be ready. Strangely unprofessional I thought, but OK I'll be prepared. The next week they put up another poster saying there's a water cut for Thursday night. I'm annoyed and think what kind of place is this? But OK, I get prepared for it, what can I do. On Saturday afternoon I'm having lunch, decide to wash my hands and surprise surprise no water! Except this time there was no warning because when I went down earlier there was no poster, but when I go down to complain at administration there is now a poster, they must have put it up just before cutting the water. The administration man says water will be out all day but they have no idea when it will be back. So now we have advanced to water cuts without warnings or timings. This morning I wake up and like normal I go to the bathroom. When I try flush I see that again there is no water! I have to go to a business meeting without being able to even wash my face or brush my teeth! I go complain at administration and they respond frustrated like I'm the one always complaining about stupid things like "needing water to bathe" or "needing a flushing toilet" or wanting "water to drink" or other "gringo" things. Tonight I will pack my bags and find somewhere else, anywhere else! read more

Plaza Suites, también conocido como Lastarria Suites y Condominio Infinito, es uno de esos lugares que arrienda departamentos baratos para residentes y turistas con poco dinero. También es el peor hotel que e tenido la mala suerte en quedarme en Santiago. Tuve que quedarme aquí durante una semana por razones de trabajo y no pude dormir casi nada durante la semana entera. Tienen problemas con las tuberías que causan un ruido muy horrible durante todo el día, todos los días, como una mezcla entre un silbido y una alarma, tan fuerte que se puede escuchar desde el primer piso. En la noche era muy difícil dormirse con el ruido sonando y parando, sonando y parando, aveces duraba 10 minutos, aveces 10 segundos, y después me despertaba 3 o cuatro veces durante la noche. Aveces causaba llorar el bebe en un departamento al lado, agregando al coro de pesadilla. Le contaba a la conserjería y no hicieron nada y mostraban molestia que les pedía algo. Conserjería mas indolente y desagradable que e conocido. Los residentes me dijeron que ya estaba así por cuatro semanas y igual no se hacia nada para arreglarlo. Al lado de una de las entradas hay un mercado Lider donde siempre hay un pobre hombre callejero cubierto en heces que se puede oler cuando entras al hotel. Nada explica este hotel mejor que eso. read more
