We arrived at the farm and immediately knew it would be a special place for dinner. The dinner is on and of the farm - everything we ate (with the exception of dairy) came from the farm! That means a meal at Lilla Bjers is hyper-seasonal. Asparagus made several appearances on our menu, so I assumed it was asparagus harvesting season! For dinner, they offer a 5-course tasting menu for 1,450 SEK (about $145). It really felt like more than 5 courses, because you get a couple of small bites to start and 2 or 3 desserts! It was a lot of food! The menu was vegetable heavy, but there were a few dishes with meat (beef and venison, if I remember correctly). Our favorite dish of the night was a vegetable dish - the asparagus dish, but we enjoyed most of the dishes quite a bit. We also did one wine pairing and one non-alcoholic pairing. I'm glad we tried both, because they were both very good. I'm so glad that they include a wine produced on Gotland as one of the wine pairings, because we didn't have time to make it down to the winery on Gotland during our visit! The service was good; they are able to serve in Swedish or English. The restaurant is just stunning. You eat in a greenhouse filled with plants and great light. It was really gorgeous. My only real complaint about what was still a very special meal is just how long the meal is. When you make a reservation, they make clear that it is a 3-hour reservation block, and our meal really took the whole three hours. It was just a little long. Our dinner started at 7:30 and we were exhausted by 10:30 when we left. And very full! Ido wish they had a shorter tasting menu option. The food is so carefully prepared and plated; I understand why the dishes take a while to prepare. But 3 hours is just a little longer than I wanted to spend at a restaurant for dinner on a vacation! Much (if not all) of the produce they use comes right from their farm, and I believe all the meat they use comes from purveyors on the island. And it shows- just such quality in everything. The dinner menu changes regularly (I assume almost daily), and we were given a choice of three course or five course tasting menu. To my understanding, there is no a la carte ordering available for dinner. You can also do an optional wine pairing, or just go by the glass. We did the the three course menu (570 SEK each), one wine pairing (450 SEK), and one glass of wine (155 SEK). For the quality, creativity, service, vibe/experience of the place, and relative to the cost of restaurants in Visby, I think it's a very fair deal. It's about five miles/seven km from the center of Visby. You can take a taxi, or I believe take a bus to nearby. We actually rented bikes and rode out there- there is dedicated bike path the whole way from just outside the fortress wall of Visby to the farm/restaurant. I highly recommend this mode if you can- the path is pretty flat, well-paved and safely separated from the roadway. It was a really nice ride at sunset, and safe even in the dark coming back to Visby (just make sure the light on your bike is working). Even the most basic-level rider should be able to handle the ride without incident.

We came on a midday Sunday for lunch and walked right in for party of four. They do not have english menus but happy to explain and translate. They have a pretty standard Scandinavian menu, service was very fast and relatively inexpensive for the portion size. We ordered the fried fish and the pasta special, but the best was definitely the homemade pesto sauce they serve with the bread... order that! The pasta was a huge portion and a bit oily but it was still tasty with fresh cheese on top. If you're looking for a nice place most would enjoy this is a good option!

Food is great, but the plates arent gigantic, so dont expect to be stuffed when leaving. I had their "Steak N fries" which was perfectly cooked and had a lot of flavor. They have a lot of seats in different levels outside so you can most probably find a spot if you want to. It can get pretty crowded in the bar outside later at night, so it might be a good option to go for a bottle wine. They also have a DJ at night that throws out a chill vibe throughout the venue. And flowers have been planted everywhere with cool lights magically coming to life as darkness very slowly falls. They are famous here for stone cooking. Your top-quality fish or meat will artfully cook on the heated stone set in front of you to the degree that you choose, While they are cooking, enjoy some beers from the nearby Gotlands Bryggeri (Gotland Brewery). And savor the beautiful view. There is one drawback to all this awesomeness. And that is something called money. it costs a lot of Swedish Kroner to eat here - at least it does for someone used to Philadelphia and Vienna prices. I'm just glad my credit card is still working .... as I did like this restaurant a great deal. Def try Trädgår'n if you holidaying on the Baltic Sea Island of Gotland. They have a few spots inside, but this is an outdoor restaurant in 3 levels which on top floor enriches you with some great views. Came here pretty late in Swedish means around 9 pm and the seating process was pretty slow. Once we got seated, service got faster. We ordered some different kind of meat served on a heated stone which allows yourself to decide grading. To the meat you then add preferred sauce and sides. If you dont want to cook your own dinner, they have reg. dishes and a buffé earlier on as well. Pricing is fair, even though its hard to set a price when you as a guest do half of the job. Get a table on top floor and enjoy the view while eating a nice dinner.

First of all, the young gentleman was absolutely nice and very helping. He spent time to make sure we understood the menu properly, and was very nice and sympathetic. He's in good part responsible of the 5 stars here. I had a steak with mushroom sauce, my dad had the tournedos. When we got our meal, I remember my dad's reaction : "That tournedos is as big as an ancient road paver". Very generous portions. And very good, we ate all of it and ended up scraping the plate in the end. They have a selection of alcohol that is OK, they were very good at recommending beer :) I highly recommend this place. You gotta try at least once while in Visby.

We recently stayed at this hotel. We had two sea view rooms …read more The hotel is beautiful but the service of the hotel not so good. During our stay we had a shower that was clogged, a sink that was clogged, and a toilet that was leaking. The clogged drains were fixed but the toilet was never fixed and we were told that the toilet was old and this could happen, but no one knew if the water coming out of the toilet was clean or dirty, and apparently all the plumbers were on vacation. Also the tv in the room was broken and out for service.(kids were not happy) This was one of the rooms; in the other one we could not close the doors but a nice guy from the kitchen came and changed the hinges. We emailed the hotel owner after the first night but no answer ! At checkout we asked for some refund since we had not been able to use the toilet in one of our rooms (the rooms are 4000 / night so not cheap). She said no and gave us some books instead !! This is a very different and beautiful place but the service of the hotel was the worst we ever experienced in a high end hotel. Restaurant was great and well worth the visit.
