Dining area is very small and cramped. They don't play any background music, so it feels like the strangers you're crammed in alongside can hear your group's whole conversation. The booth backrests were so wobbly that every time someone in the booth behind me moved, I got punched in the back by that massive wooden backrest. Not a comfortable or relaxing atmosphere to eat in. Staff took their own sweet time to come back to take orders and bring things we requested like extra napkins. Not a big deal, but they never brought the receipt so we eventually gave up and went to the front to pay. Menus had sticky residue on them and water glasses did not look clean. Salsa had a funky taste to it, like they'd let it sit out while people smoked cigarettes next to it for a couple hours. Only reason I didn't give the restaurant a 1-star is because the food I ordered was actually decent and I didn't get food poisoning. Not going back. Very disappointed in quality and customer service. Not nearly as good as it was several years ago. Paid way too much for the fajitas. $18. 99 however there was barely enough meat to fill a single tortilla. Meat was super peppery (black course pepper) and it was a lot of gristle/tough scrap meat. Most of the meat was impossible to eat. The onions and peppers were not cooked well with the meat so we're quite raw and didn't have the fajita taste to them. They garnished half the plate with a large tomato to hide the fact there was hardly any steak. My daughters chicken enchilada was missing most of the enchilada sauce, barely a tablespoon on the plate which left the enchilada hard and dry. She loved the chicken tacos, those were well done but the enchilada wasn't very edible. Once our food was brought to us the waitress never came back except to drop off the bill. The bill was wrong. There were two of us, myself and my daughter but we were charged for 4 pops. I had a tea and my daughter a pop, no refills. Waitress didn't come back to refill our drinks or to check on the quality of our meal. I told the cashier and was grilled on refills and if more people were at my table. No just the two of us, there are only two meals on our receipt, and mine was a tea not pop and no refills were offered since the waitress didn't come back. They ended up adjusting the drinks. I have to say for $58 we have had larger meals at McDonald's with better quality. Very disappointed that the restaurant has gone down from the quality we use to get there in years past. Maybe they are struggling to recover from the Covid closure, and if so I am sorry but you cant try to make up for lost ground by scaling the food quantity and quality back so drastically but maintaing a high price. Not a bad place. Plaza Jalisco is right off of I-5 so it's pretty easy to get off and on if you are on that corridor. Plaza isn't the most authentic Mexican fare in town but the service is friendly and lightning fast. I barely got done placing my order and had a two bites of salsa and chips (which were pretty good) and my meal arrived! I had a Taco Salad which was decent. Prices are reasonable and location convenient. Not a bad place at all, just not the best. read more

Their food was terrible. The customer experience was horrible. The Chile Relleno was 80% egg and 20% Chile. Worst Chille Relleno plate I've ever had. One of the staff members had their children hanging out in the restaurant one of them called me fat in Spanish thinking I didn't understand. This happened all while the server was running my payment. The server pretended like he didn't hear it. I later called the restaurant and asked to speak to the server who helped me. He was "too busy to pick up the phone." I explained to the lady who answered the phone what had happened and then she did put him on the phone, just for him to hang up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the owner and was told that he was "in the back room and also too busy to pick up the phone." This place is a joke, nasty service and food. This restaurant serves mostly Mexican food, but has some options for American food like hamburgers, fries, etc. I was here with my family a few weeks ago. I ordered a chicken burrito that was actually really delicious. It came with shredded chicken inside and red sauce on top, which was flavorful. Service and smiles were infectious and warm. Specialty plates taste wonderful. I looked through many of the other reviews and after my exposure I feel this little chain should have higher reviews. If you order one of the #'s, their are less flamboyant with the flavors. Still, the chicken chimichunga is great with soft marinated chicken and a fresh wrapped and lightly fried crisp. The way to go is with the specialty plates, though. These, like the fejita burrito, are very good. And the serving is huge. Another surprise was the steaks. The cuts are thinner than a nice steak house yet the flavor and preparation were great. I cannot remember the name, but their version of surf and turf, the steak and shrimp is better than fine. We went there again, tonight, they must have filled our salsa bowl 4 times!!! Very spicey, hard to stop eating. Unfortunately, I always order the same thing every time I go for Mexican food: Taco Salad (it's the fried flour tortilla, damn that's good!), so I only have the one food to say that both times was incredibly tastey and too much to eat. He ate the Jalisco Special, a plate with carne asada and a seafood medley (he likes melody, because it makes him sing!) and mushrooms in a spicey buttery sauce. Anyway, margaritas good too. We came to this restaurant because we looked online and they had some vegan/ vegetarian options on the menu posted online. When we got there the menu was completely different then what we saw but our waiter assured us they can make anything we saw on their "old menu" which is what we found online. Our waiter was funny and joking around with us. My sister is vegan and my brother in law is vegetarian which, I think, isn't something they come across often because he kept messing around with them. The food being placed on our table was an experience all in and of itself. My sister ordered a vegetarian burrito and the thing was bigger than her head! I got the tacos al carbon and they were awesome!! My husband got some weird beef dish he wasn't too happy with but it was still a massive amount of food. The prices are a bit up there but the amount of food they give you is so huge that you don't feel like you are being ripped off. The food came out hot and fast and, overall, was super tasty. The only downside this place has is the atmosphere. When we walked in we almost walked out because it's super small and cramped and the cleanliness looked questionable. The ceiling is really low too, one guy hit his head as he was walking to the bathrooms and had to slouch the rest of the way. If they updated their restaurant a little bit they would probably get more customers but overall this place was super good and I would go back. read more

Had high hopes as the one in Napavine is actually good and fairly clean. Also the burritos had this weird cheap sweet tomato sauce instead of real sauce, think totinos frozen pizza, thats the sauce, low grade pizza sauce. To top it off, this place is pricey, much more than the ine in Napavine even, 16.00 for the carne asade pizza sauce burrito. We used to go to Plaza Jalisco quite often when we were dating and the food was always excellent as was the whole dining experience. Used to be way better. Although the food is still pretty good, the place has went way downhill. The people behind me in the other booth kept kicking me the whole time. My husband was opposite me so he didnt have that at least. The service was actually real good. Unfortunately I ordered a margarita, regular...it was so very very strong. Couldnt drink it at all. They said oh they are always like that. He looked at me weird when I refused to order something else. Why would I if they are all going to be like that? I mean I felt like I was breathing fire. So I had to eat a spicy mexican meal with no drink. And no I dont do tap water. The meal was 50 bucks for 2. And yes we tip well. Oh btw it was our 20th Anniversary. Not a great memory. first and last time eating there. i wanted some street tacos. carne asada or el pastor. the waiter said they don't have el pastor. so i asked if they have carne asada street tacos, he said yes. so i said i will take 3. He later brings me 4 tacos with guac in the middle. i said i only wanted 3, and he walk away and did not explain why. i guess i would eat 3. i also asked for salsa verde . so let me tell you about the food: OK the plate was so hot that the guac was turning brown. it was so hot the i had to wait to grab a taco. since i had to wait because the plate was hot the tortillas were dry and the longer i waited the worse they got. and by the way the salsa verde was not green it was orange and no lime taste. i asked the waiter is that salsa verde? he sad yes. and now here is the icing on the cake, four dry over cooked tacos with guac 14.99 at lunch time. i find out that the street tacos are ground beef for 3.05 each. go to taco bell you will be better off. i think there was a white cook in the back. i know good Mexican food, my wife and in-laws are Mexican and when they cook, there is always a second plate. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Tumwater. my husband and I frequent here often but recently we have not been happy with this restaurant. The food is great and the service is great but there have been multiple occasions in which people come up to our table, during our dinner, to ask us to purchase roses or sing songs for a price. This is not okay by any means! I feel awkward and obligated to buy something I don't want! This is a huge violation of a very sacred, relaxing time that usually is at the end of my very busy day. I value this time with my husband and I DO NOT like someone interrupting our meal to sell me roses or songs... We come to plaza Jalisco multiple times a month, and stop in for to go orders and pico de gallo so frequently that I would really hate to make a different restaurant our go-to, but this is just uncalled for! I really hope this review reaches management and someone will put an end to this very irritating occurance before we take our business elsewhere. read more

Plaza Jalisco, in Chehalis, WA, is a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. That being said, you need to know: they have the best salsa on the planet. I'd better repeat that, just to make sure you don't miss it: The. Best. Salsa. On. The. Planet. I am specifically referring to the hot salsa, which looks almost olive green. This is not a red salsa, or a pico de gallo - this is tasty liquid fire in a bowl. Be warned - it's hot, but super flavorful. We're not talking extract of capsaicin or anything, but oh-so-good. I had a friend bring me four pints of the stuff in styrofoam cups. By the time the salsa made it to me on the Eastern side of the state, there was hot oil seeping through the walls of the cup. I didn't care; this stuff is amazing. Life changing! (Well, if not life changing, at the very least, it is *sinus* changing...) Oh, and the rest of the food is pretty tasty, too.
