We stepped off the ship in the morning and had a tight window before we needed to be back on the cruise ship. He had planned out our itinerary using ChatGPT but the cable cars were not working that day. We considered renting electric bikes to cruise around the Rock but one look at the roads, fog, and traffic, I voted against the idea. The only other option was one of the day tours that were offered from the taxi guys. We noted that the closer to the cruise terminal, the prices were higher. We walked to the Casemates Square and found some shops. There was a mall too but we found a taxi stand where their tour was (120£ for the 2 of us). The taxi took us to 5 of the main attractions: Pillars of Hercules, St. Michaels Cave, the wild monkeys, Great Siege Tunnels, and the Glass bottomed Gibraltar Skywalk. We also went to the WWII Tunnel Experience which was included in our particular ticket but not our tour. As it was foggy, we didn't see much at the Pillars or the Skywalk but St. Michael's Cave was pretty cool as were the wild monkeys. I am not a WWII buff but my husband loves war history so he was invested. We thought it was well worth our money to be escorted up the Rock to the different points of interest considering our tight window. We made our way down the mountain with the steps leading to Casemates Square and back to the cruise terminal. We needed to be back by 2:30 pm and had just enough time to stop for lunch. We opted for the delicious scent of Indian food found at Khan's Authentic Indian on Watergardens. We packed a lot in on this port day and it was well worth it.

I was so excited to see Africa, I had to go as soon as we checked in to our hotel. Our hotelier gave us a local map and showed us how to drive along the Plaza del Miramar (on the same-named road), to see a great view! It was so cool! If you are walking through the plaza, there is a viewing platform for even better views! But driving or walking, the views are definitely worth seeking! Prior to this trip, I (and many Americans I know) thought that Gibraltar was the southernmost city in Spain, but, no way José, it is actually Tarifa. I had been through Andalucia years before, as a teen, and had glimpsed the African continent, but had never gotten as close as I did in Tarifa. Plaza del Miramar gave us a great view, even at night! So exciting!

You can literally see Africa from here on a clear day. It's a romantic spot that'll always be special in my heart. Quiet, bit breezy, a nice break from the action. A place that makes you reflect about the world we live in, with various cultures that meet. There's the lighthouse, big and bright and the beautiful white mosque building with mountains behinds. That's all. And the Mediterranean sea spreading out. It's fascinating and if you'll go in the area, this is a wonderful spot to visit. Unique and beautiful. Sure, it just enticed me some more to visit Morocco, being so close to it, but I'll leave it for some other time. Although, it's calling my name....

There is ample paved parking and most of where you walk also has stone or wood paths. The museum building is modern and complete with. I've restrooms and small gift shop. We spent about an hour here looking at the ruins of the basilica , the salted fish factory, the theatre, the aqueduct. Everything has multi language signs to explain what you are seeing. Weather was not the greatest. Had it been a bit warmer, we may have spent longer. However, I cannot imagine spending more than 2 hours here. Interesting 2000 year old ruins and well worth the visit.

It's where Europe meets Africa and it has a bit of both worlds! Breathtaking! I am glad I had some time to spend here, on the way to Ronda. The railway station is in the middle of the city, I took a train to Ronda, but before I was able to walk its streets, explore the great market they have, see the people who inhabit this place, a mix of population, always nice and fascinating. I loved their market, rich in merchandise, smells and local flavors. The streets are cute and charming. Nice views! Algeciras is off the beaten path, but if you are in the area, check it out even for 2 hours, it is so worth it! Very unique!

It was an amazing sight, worth seeing on our journey. I thought the cargoland in my hometown of Philadelphia was crazy, but the acres and acres of warehouses and cargo containers in Algericas is stunning! The Port of Algeciras is one of the largest in Europe and the 25th largest port in the world! Lots of oil imports! They also have passenger ferries for Morocco. The nearby English territory of Gibraltar is visible from many parts of Algericas.
