I fell in love with Algeciras immediately! Fabolous place! A small charming town in Andalucia, South of Spain, major transportation hub! It's where Europe meets Africa and it has a bit of both worlds! Breathtaking! I am glad I had some time to spend here, on the way to Ronda. The railway station is in the middle of the city, I took a train to Ronda, but before I was able to walk its streets, explore the great market they have, see the people who inhabit this place, a mix of population, always nice and fascinating. I loved their market, rich in merchandise, smells and local flavors. The streets are cute and charming. Nice views! Algeciras is off the beaten path, but if you are in the area, check it out even for 2 hours, it is so worth it! Very unique! read more

We drove through Algericas, which is a metropolis for southern Spain, with over 118k people. This is a huge, sprawling city, famous for its port of imports. It was an amazing sight, worth seeing on our journey. I thought the cargoland in my hometown of Philadelphia was crazy, but the acres and acres of warehouses and cargo containers in Algericas is stunning! The Port of Algeciras is one of the largest in Europe and the 25th largest port in the world! Lots of oil imports! They also have passenger ferries for Morocco. The nearby English territory of Gibraltar is visible from many parts of Algericas. read more

We took a wrong turn on the way to a Kite Surfing school in Tarifa and ended up in the docks of Algeciras. Algeciras is nothing special to look at at all however e stumbled across one of the most amazing things Ive ever seen here In 1805 the French and Spanish fleets were defeated at Cape Trafalgar by Admiral Nelson. There were three Spanish Admirals present at the battle, and one of them Uriale was aboard his flagship, the Santisima Trinidad which was the most heavily armed ship of its day. Sadly it sank the day after the battle due to its heavy damage and taking on water in the stormy weather The Spanish have rebuilt a 1:1 reconstruction of this beast in Algeciras harbour... nowadays its harboured in Malaga as a floating museum but you know what? I don't care!!! It was AMAZING!!! read more
