located in the northwest part of the city centre, this is a great place to run thru, walk around, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy the statues bearing historical significance in madrid. i actually got to do all 4 since i visited this site several times during my stay in spain's capital.
there are a couple of ponds here, one where i had my husband lie down and pretend to drink from one of the springs b/c i thought it'd make a funny photo! i posed by the equestrian statues of don quixote and sancho panza, standing in between the horses' legs for a memorable photo.
there were quite a few vendors here, selling everything from tshirts, to hats, to local food products. i actually bought some turkish delight from one of the vendors b/c it looked so good and fresh...the bright colours didn't hurt either! it was only after i made my purchase, and converted the price in my head, that i realized how badly i was ripped off! and the turkish delight was just average, i probably could have gotten the same in the states. note to self: best to purchase turkish delight in turkey, or in a country closer to eastern europe!
several tour groups stop by here, so be prepared to possibly wait in line if you want to take photographs without strangers in the background! read more
