She decided to play a little older than a lot of girls so we obviously weren't looking for a club team, we wanted a house team to see if she would enjoy the sport and then if so we could do private lessons to help get her up to speed quickly. It worked out perfectly, she's now on at the club level and really enjoying it. The bigger thing is how much my child enjoys her time at Eichs as a parent, she loves coming and going. The staff is always looking out for the kids 1st and it shows, their approach has built up her confidence as well as her skill. If your looking to get your child into this sport this is a great place to start and grow. They will make a ton of promises and never follow through with them yet take your money. We signed up for club for $1100 and about $1800 total later, my daughter was put on a team where the coach had no real club experience and the team was created from grabbing people off of the street literally. Parents were ready to pay but the girls had no interest and very little experience. Tournaments consisted of a silent coach that gave no feedback or direction and girls goofing off on the court, standing still, or rolling their eyes when a ball came close to them. The only points my daughters Eichs team made was from the other team's errors. Eichs hides when any conflict arises and then buries you in more lies. They invested in a new VB court when their batting business tanked but the court is too low to have a solid practice on it yet the club experience is on that court while rec teams have the proper courts. The air conditioning is only on when parents are around. Think about summer practices and open gym before you drop your kids off.

It is difficult watching my daughter regress after just completing a success volleyball season with her school. My daughter said that her coach is "all talk and no teach" which is evident in how the girls play. My daughter advised me that her coach told the players that parents were complaining and the coach blamed the players as opposed to taking ownership that she lacks the skill to coach them. Every week they run the exact same drills and no actual teaching or coaching takes place. If my daughter and I was looking for recreational fun and games this would have been perfect however we were looking to enhance and develop skills. We didn't get that at Empower.

The coach decided to have my son stand in the net and catch the ball as each of the boys fielded it and threw as hard as they could. Of course, he missed one and it hit him in the Eye. It cut him above the eye. He left the field bleeding and with broken glasses. The coach never came to check on him. We had to find someone to get a first aid kit to assist us. I was denied a refund. Although during the time of adult swim, one of the lifeguard let some kid who was younger than me (I knew him from my school) and the lifeguard let him and other teens under 18 to swim and he knew that wasn't allowed as he was yelling at other boys to get out of the pool. It was just unfair on that part, but theirs no other concern. It's very clean and sanitary.
