I was tempted to go back to my drive-in movie days and climb in the trunk and have my wife drive in!! Plenty of parking, mostly fisherman here. Fun to watch them catch a fish. Clean bathrooms at the end of the pier. Had a "Gulf of America" sign I the pass was for all day so we stopped on the return trip from Clearwater. The bridge is stunning lit up at night.

The 1980 tragedy has abundant the bridge as transportation to fishing pier after the main span was struck down. It has been fisherman heaven when they changed to fishing pier. There fees collect if you want to fish here. This fees basically go to the bridge pier repair. I like the two lane pier with place for pull out to park your car. Many people has come to here to fish. The facility include so often distances with a restroom. It also has a bait shop. I think this place is great for sunset and sunrise view. The pelicans and seagulls rest on the other side of the non fishing bridge pier. It was awesome to observe their behavior. The pier is clean since most of the fishermen dispose the un-use line properly.

You order at the food truck, grab a picnic table under the trees, and wait while everything is cooked fresh. The sign says, "Be patient. Be kind." Trust me, it's worth both. The smoked wahoo dip disappeared embarrassingly fast. Creamy, smoky, and packed with flavor. The blackened grouper sandwich was the star of the show. Perfectly seasoned, flaky, moist, and piled high on toasted bread with fresh toppings. The soft shell crab sandwich was crispy, sweet, and one of those meals that requires extra napkins and zero shame. Even the roasted broccoli was charred just right. Come for the seafood. Stay for the quirky atmosphere. Leave wondering why you've waited so long to eat here.

There's plenty of umbrellaed tables and picnic tables. They have a full menu of apps, seafood, and burgers. Their whole fried snapper is one of our favorite fish, and Hookin' serves a generous serving, perfectly tender and sweet, in a light crispy layer of coating, on a regular soft bun, with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Their Fried Wahoo is also well-prepared. We got fried, and it was tender and fresh. Both fish came with a heaping serving of hot crispy fries. You could also get either fish blackened, and you could add various veggies as sides. We ordered our food and also picked it up ourselves at the bar. Hookin' can get crowded, especially when they have a live musician, and parking can get pretty tight. It's just off I-275 at 22nd St, in St. Pete Fl east of Gulfport. They keep their social media pretty up-to-date, but we didn't track down a "regular" webpage.

The hiking trails are great, the kayak launches make it easy to get out on the water, and the observation tower is a must--climb to the top for an awesome bird's-eye view, including the Sunshine Skyway Bridge showing off in the distance. There are plenty of picnic spots, plus a pavilion with nearby restrooms (always a win). One of our favorite things is walking out to the Portavant Temple Mound, where helpful signs bring the area's history to life. And if you're looking for photo ops, this place delivers--nature shots, family photos, you name it. We've had ours taken here more than once. No matter if you're exploring, relaxing, or snapping pictures, Emerson Point always has beauty waiting around the corner. There's even a welcome center near the pavilion to get you started. A perfect spot to wander, relax, and fall a little in love with Florida!

We went to the South fishing pier first. The gentleman in the booth was very kind and friendly and allow us to drive through just to see what the pier was like for tomorrow night. We decided to take a look at the Northside fishing pier, and when we got to the booth, we very kindly explained to the lady in the booth that we were looking to go fishing tomorrow night and asked kindly if we could just drive through. We had our Service dog with us, but did not have his vest on. She raised her voice at us and told us we were not allowed to go past her booth that she was demanding we turn around or even back up! I told her he was a Therapy dog and asked her kindly once again if we were allowed to just drive through that we were not getting out. Once again with her voice raised, she told us absolutely not, and that he should "have his vest on"! Wow... Not a very nice person to have representing one of our State Parks! Needless to say, we will be sticking with the Southside fishing pier tomorrow night. And there's our tax dollars hard at work for a very nasty and miserable old bitty!
