Showed up before closing time and was refused entry into main store. Was told by manager that the arcade would be open longer because they were having card night. Same idiot that denied us entry to store came and kicked us out of arcade as well so they could play card games. Seems the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. So many fun games and merchandise (and great "history" lessons for my kids)! Warning though, it is in a very quiet mall that has many closed stores/ is mostly empty. Even that being said, it is VERY worth visiting. There are many comics, DVDs, books, merchandise, and memorabilia for sale. This includes older models of video games and systems. The best part is being able to play old arcade games for 25 cents!!!! They have a change machine (so bring dollar bills or 5s). My family went during the mid day heat to escape the strong sun and had fun. I loved racing them on a car game and playing Jurassic park. Next door to the store is a room with awesome classics you can play for a quarter. (Pac-Man, Tetris, donkey Kong, tappers, mortal Kombat, pinball..... and so many more). We only spent about $10 for the 4 of us to have fun for a bit. It was very nostalgic for me and reminded my kids of a scene from Wreck it Ralph. The people working were very friendly. Please remember to handle the games with care. Parts are hard to come by sometimes, so it's important to be gentle. read more

This place carries everything from the oldest gaming systems, comics, collectibles, tshirts, etc. and when you think that's it, they have even more in the back. If you want it, they got it or know someone that can get it for you. They have 25 cent arcade games in the store & a full arcade next door with oldies & newbies to titillate & delight. Whatever geekdom you're looking to conquer you can do it here. Unfortunately, they don't have vinyl albums or I would have been there for hours. This shop is pretty big and the only one of it's kind I've seen around here. I grew up in Boston going to Newbury Comics and it kind of had a similar feel. You can even find things like Funco Pop characters, a wide selection of anime, and card games like Pokemon and Magic. So cool...so fun...so unique...loved it all! This was pretty much the first stop on our things to do while in Myrtle Beach for a week long vacation. It did not disappoint! There's something for everyone here! Comics, Pokémon and Nintendo plush, posters, dice, Magic, video games for every console for the last 30 years, working arcade games and pinball machines and more!!! It's all amazing! It was so neat to look through all the old video games especially from the Super Nintendo and Game Cube era which is such a throwback to my youth. This store is amazing. I was vacationing from Maryland and didn't want to wait to get this weeks new releases ( yes I know I cheated on my Maryland LCS, but this store more than held their own). First of all, I was amazed that the brand new issues were bagged and boarded. Not only do they have a good size collection of back issues, they have a good size selection of everything from Funko to trade paperbacks to video games. Mext time I vacation in Myrtle Beach I will definitely hit them up on new comic Wednesday. read more

Overall this store is pretty amazing. As a comic book store, it didn't impress. They have a large amount of current issues and new comics, but key back issues was lacking, or what is called wall books. In the long boxes I looking for back issues of Amazing Spider-man and saw nothing pre-issue 400. The staff there were friendly, so I asked one of them if they had any others anywhere else. He said people come from up north and buy his issues and take them back to sell on eBay. As he didn't have anything I wished to buy, I can't speak to value. Though if you are looking for new comics at cover price, this place probably has it. You should stop by and visit if in the area, just don't expect to be impressed with the older comic selection, as apparently his stock keeps getting invaded. read more

If you're a video gamer or love comics or superheroes, you're going to enjoy Player's Choice. It's not as great of a place if you're looking for a wide selection of D&D-games or board games. THINGS TO KNOW: -They actually have an arcade with arcade games right in the store! It's pretty awesome! -The storefront is entirely located inside the mall. You won't be able to get into the store without walking inside the mall. This is possibly the only hobby store I've seen located in a mall like this - but they have a gigantic space in the mall, so they're probably pretty happy with it. -The store sells a lot of neat stuff including stuff you didn't know you wanted. They have video games, lots of comic books, lots of nerdy collectibles including a giant collection of those Funko toys. They sell old games like PS1, game boy games, and more. PROS: -Lots and lots of rare video games. That's always awesome. Even for old systems such as the original PlayStation or Game Boy Color. -Prices are very reasonable. They're usually within $5 of what Amazon would sell it for. I'd much rather buy it local than save that tiny chunk of change. -Staff is super helpful. They seem just as nerdy as the customers they cater to. CONS: -Doesn't have board games. For hobby stores like this, I really expect a board game section. It's a bit odd. You're going to find a larger board game selection at Books-A-Million in the same mall. read more

18 minutes ago I went in to buy a N64 game that was 104.00 dollars, I wanted to make sure it was an OEM and the guy was passive aggressive about it but said he'd only let me open up one cartridge to ensure authenticity ensuring me all his games are OEMS. The game was indeed an OEM but I bought 5 more games that he wouldn't let me check. Both guys I had dealt with were defensive and passive aggressive when I asked questions about the N64 games. I asked how long "Road Rash" has been sitting on the shelf because it's a child hood favorite and it was the only one and looked in great condition and if I knew it was sitting there for a long time my chances of coming back an it being there would be a lot hire if I couldn't buy it at that very moment but the owner brushed me off with a dismissive response and then said I been here 14 years and never had anyone ask me that question before. You just don't talk to a paying customer that way, I owned a business for nine years and know that's not right. My experience is that they were undermining and passive aggressive. The end result was I spent 290 bucks on used N64 games so I asked for 10 bucks off and the owner said no but sold me the games Tax free so I guess that's better than nothing. I won't be shopping there again because I don't like how I was dealt with. I Hope everyone else has had a good experience it seems they have according to the high review level, it's too bad I didn't because I'm a big Nintendo junkie but back to Amazon shopping for me. read more

We had a blast here and at their 1980's pinball and video games place next door (Time Warp?) We loved playing all of the old pinball machines and stayed for at least 2 hours. The gentlemen working there were very helpful and sweet and answered all of our questions. 25 cent pinball, don't miss it! I felt like I was 15 years old again, and loved every minute of it; and my husband said that it's a semi-great workout too! If you're hungry there's a great pizza/subs place in the mall as well, Corrado's Pizza, and it's the best pizza I've had in Mrytle Beach! read more

I'm ready for round 2 on my Player's Choice review. It is a hidden gem in this dying mall. I was highly impressed with all the lit arcade games, comic books, anime, action figures and classic video games in stock, and this visit, 2 years later? Not much different. Absolutely friendly staff; they were super helpful over the phone and through Facebook messenger on their page. And to top that all off, this store has probably the best arcade in Myrtle Beach, full of classic classic arcade games... and all games are 25 cents to play! All other arcades in MB will run you at least $1 a game. Spent a handful of quarters playing Harley-Davidson L.A. Riders and House of the Dead 2. The games seem well kept, and by that, I mean the buttons on Harley-Davidson aren't busted and the handlebars aren't calibrated like ass, and the gun on House 2 was accurate! Next door, the same store owner also runs a classic arcade called Warp Zone with a ton of classic '80s games, and they moved their Super Mario pinball into that space as well. Good selection of classic video games in stock. Bought a PS1 game I was looking for at a good price and walked out. They've got some fly shirts as well. Massive selection of comic books as well (though I wasn't looking for them). GameStop doesn't have jack squat on this. If you're a gamer, comic book enthusiast or a geek, Player's Choice in Myrtle Beach Mall is a must-go while walking on the ocean (even though it's off the highway and not the shore, lol). read more

Selection of games is absolutely excellent, the prices on just about everything is a good 20% or so above market value, but if you are looking for something specific chances are they have it. Besides that the employees and owner aren't the most like able people. When asked questions they usually brush off the question or give snarky remarks.
