We stopped by Playa Bowls while in the area, as we were looking for something fresh and with fruit - We shared a Power Acai bowl, topped with sliced bananas, the peanut butter drizzle, and added some sliced strawberries. We also ordered a Watermelon Swell, one of their Surf Quenchers - unfortunately, while this was refreshing, it had no taste of the watermelon. Staff were friendly, and there was ample seating inside; tables could be tended to, as they were a bit messy. Metered parking is available in the Strip District. +avoid the quenchers +fresh acai bowls +friendly staff read more

This was my first time trying Playa before, and it was a pretty decent experience. There was quite a long line, which was understandable since it was Saturday, but the staff really hustled to take and make orders quickly! I loved the murals inside and I wish I got better pictures to share here! It was a fun beachy vibe in there, that made me feel like I was someplace else, which felt really good! I ordered a small Aloha smoothie with honey in it. It was super tasty and a great consistency! I really enjoyed the smoothie itself, just not the fact that it was $10. It was a nice treat and much enjoyed on the hot day, but I don't think I'd ever become a frequent visitor due to the pricing. I would like to try their juice sometime as well, and I am curious if they offer samples. Overall it was pretty solid visit, I just wish the franchise offered lower pricing--like perhaps $6 for a smoothie. read more

Playa Bowls - Power Acai Bowl.... delicious as always - Acai Bowls Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I stopped into Playa Bowls on a Monday morning. There are a couple locations around the city but I went to the strip district location (located in the Terminal). I went pretty early so there was only one other person in there. I ordered one of their green smoothies. It was delicious. The staff were also very helpful and answered the questions I had. Overall, I had a good experience and I would come back to try some other items again soon. read more

I got to check out Playa Bowls during my last visit home to Pittsburgh, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The fruit bases are fresh. They load them up with granola and sweet toppings making for a great brekkie. Super healthy and yummy. Quick and friendly service. read more

I've never written a bad review but this place deserves it. First time and last time coming here. I would only recommend this place for the AC. The food is mid, and there's a better açaí place down the street. Staff was rude from the moment we walked in. If you're charging $24 for a drink and a bowl, the least you can do is say hello when someone greets you! read more

Their mango bowl is the best!! The staff was so sweet and helped me out quickly with quality service. Perfect location in the strip district for a quick lunch after a workout read more

Wow. I'm not usually a huge fan of chain shops, but this one has to be the exception. The bowls here are just so excellent and so fresh. It might be my favorite smoothie bowl spot in Pittsburgh. I got to try their Playa passion fruit bowl with a few toppings. It was amazing. Great portion for a pretty reasonable price. The base was perfectly sweet, and you can tell you use real passion fruit instead of just syrup. The toppings were also super fresh and delicious. Fresh pineapple, fresh strawberries, delicious whipped cream or something similar to it. Just excellent. I would highly recommend it! read more

Strawberry-banana smoothie was too dilute. It lacked flavor, as if the smoothie had too little strawberry and banana and too much ice. The ingredients aren't the same, but compare the "Blue Lagoon" smoothie available at East End Food Coop, in Pittsburgh's east end, for a much more flavorful smoothie. read more

I was really in the mood for a açaí bowl. I remembered the last time I was in the Stip District on Smallman St that Playa Bowls had just opened. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The store has plenty of seating and has a good vibe. I ordered a tropical acai bowl with added strawberries. The service was super fast. The açaí bowl was delicious and among the very best I have had. I will definitely be going back again. read more

I absolutely love Playa Bowls. This bright, colorful, highly Instagrammable location has only been in town for a couple of months but I have stopped by often because the bowls are fantastic. There is a wall of infinite combination possibilities, and if you have a hard time choosing just one base you can get two in the same bowl. You can choose a bowl combo that sounds pretty much like what you want but ask them to change it up in whatever way suits you, and they are extremely helpful in making sure you get exactly what you want. The staff here is also fantastic about moving through lines they can get relatively long at peak times very quickly. These make for a very filling, delicious meal you can feel good about. They also have fresh pressed juice and oatmeals. I've tried the juice and it's fine, although I must say I like some other local providers better. I can't stop getting the wonderful bowls, with base options like banana, coconut, açai and pitaya (dragonfruit), topped with colorful fruit and granola and a squeeze of Nutella, but at some point during the cold winter months I look forward to finally giving the oatmeals a try. I'm guessing they will be done just as well. read more

We got the electric mermaid pitaya bowl with half açaí. They were excellent with adjustments to the bowl and substitutes for the toppings without any extra charge. We did go during a time when it was busier so the line was all the way to the door but the bowl was still made in a reasonable time. There is plenty of seating and is well decorated inside. read more

Took 30 minutes to get my bowl when it was not busy at all because there is one girl cutting the fruit and the rest of them are just talking and singing and not doing anything else. I had to go up after 20 minutes to ask them to make it. Once it came out it was not the correct base either. read more

Ordered a Nutella açaí with gluten free granola (for only .50 extra!) and the order quickly came out! It was refreshing for a hot day although the açaí base was pretty frozen it was still good. The fruit was fresh and coconut shavings were delicious. There were a handful of people in the dining area which had plenty of seats but moderate levels of volume for easy conversation. The smoothie was good too ! Always look forward to returning and getting some discounts through the rewards program. read more

I've been here a few times The bowls are tasty and you can easily customize your fruits toppings and fillings Cute decor Bowls about 14 each Today a different experience ordered my bowl there was one person in front of me Four working you can see them assembling the bowls smoothies etc And here is my gripe I order and go wait in back 2 people waiting then 4 then 5 I see orders being sealed and picked up look like food delivery orders ok Then folks clearly there after me get their orders why??? I notice one person waiting clearly there before I was ;being friendly I said your waiting longer then me she is mad said "I will miss my flight" 2?min later she did get her bowl and had to ask for a bag. I am now on the cusp of having to pay $7 dollars to park I have 3 min I asked how long ? My order not even being worked on luckily refunded fast ran to car zoom to get out sadly I'm past the 30 min costs $7 dollars to leave I would be less angry if folks who ordered bowls after didn't get theirs first My bowl was just a menu bowl with no mango Parking either the backin pay pgh Or the parking lot in back which thankfully offers 1/2 hour free Today was not a good experience at playa read more

I absolutely love Playa since I had them back home in Jersey. They are still new and opened last week so the staff is still figuring it out. Service is a bit slow but they are trying their best.
