Dropped some clothes today not really expecting much about what they'd take or not. The girl at the door was very pleasant as she greeted me and asked me fill out a form and that I have to be in the store while they check out my items. It was rather a pleasant experience as the manager explained the cost of the items she's buying from me and the reason why they wouldn't take the rest of the clothes. It's pretty plain and simple. Whatever 2 white teenagers who were working today (1/12/24) at around 8pm were snickering at my mom and younger sibling while they were shopping because those workers thought they weren't speaking English. My younger sibling and mother were also the only customers in the store at the time. Train your workers properly and don't hire people who think it's ok to be disrespectful (and frankly, racist) while on the clock, because it says a lot about your establishment and the kind of atmosphere you are breeding by hiring workers who can't even do their jobs diligently and who don't treat their paying customers with respect. To those teenagers, did your parents raise you to be like that? Or do you just think disrespecting people is "cool" or "funny?" Your hearts are impure and your actions reflect that. So I am starting to clear out the closet of My wife's clothes (she passed away). I took a large bin to Platos Closet to sell, and they didn't take a single article of clothing! Some BS that the clothes did not meet teen criteria, and the tags were old! What a bunch of crap! I would bet money that if a younger lady took these clothes in, they would buy some! Worse place to sell your clothes. I came in with 2 bags of clothes (workout clothes, basic clothes, denim jeans). I was told that it would take 30-35 mins. I stood there for an hour and saw an employee holding a pair of shoes, walking around the store asking other employees about how much money they should buy it for, saying its not even worth $10, they joked around that it was worth $5. HOW IS NIKE FREE RUNS WORTH $5? Seeing them laugh and joke around behind the cash register made me so angry and disrespected. In the end, they only took 5 items out of 2 bags of clothes. Overall I wouldn't waste my time there. And to have them come up with excuses saying they have too much work out gear and my clothes aren't good enough is unprofessional from the employees and the store as a whole. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I really tried to give Platos Closet one more try and I regret wasting my time going back. I tried selling some clothes that I had in previous years bought at other platos closets and other good quality stores. I watched her go through my clothes and she looked at maybe 3 pieces before her friend came over and she put it all back in the bin and started taking to her friend. Minutes later she called my name and said she couldn't take any of my clothes because of quality and style. I told her she barely looked at it and she rolled her eyes at me and then went back to complaining to her friend about the fact that she didn't want to be there and was called in that morning. After hearing a commercial every time I drove my car, I decided to sell a few nicer things that didn't sell at my garage sale. They took both my items, and gave me 10 bucks, which a little less than I thought I would get, but overall, can't really complain about cash in 10 minutes. For some reason they asked me to show ID, so just be prepared to do that, shouldn't be a big deal. While I was waiting for the appraisal of my clothes I looked around. They have LOTS of great jeans, for about 12 bucks a pair, even on higher end labels. Everything is in great shape, but most of the sizes are juniors, and I haven't seen juniors since puberty so I was really out of luck. If you don't have a curvy figure and are looking for good casual clothes, I'm sure this place would be great. read more

I went to platos closet to get rid of alot of clothes that I just kept in my closet. I'm a compulsive shopper and thought "well heck someone should actually have some use to these clothes that I never wear" so I went here. Bad Idea. the girl that was looking at my clothes was so freaking RUDE she kept saying how "Plaid was out a year ago" and that my high heels weren't HIGH enough! So i walked away so I didnt have to deal with her bitchy attitude and looked at the clothing and shoes. they did have a nice collection. I just thought the way I was treated was complete BS. I tell everyone to not go there. if you want to do a good thing by giving away clothes then go to Good Will. Thats what I ended up doing. I will never go to platos closet ever again and the sad thing is that MULTIPLE of my friends have had the same experience. read more

This is by far the worst Plato's Closet I have been to. They have the tackiest clothing I have ever seen! They will take cheetah and Aztec print sweaters from 2012, but not clothes that are currently in style. A lot of the items they take in have stains and holes in them, and dirty shoes with scuffs all over them. read more

Plato's closet it a great place to shop. The deals are incredible and they have a large selection of items and sizes. Shopping there, no problem. When selling items on multiple occasions I have had several issues. The main being the attitude of the employees and the unclear explanation of why items were not accepted. I'm not expecting to make a lot of money, and you shouldn't, but there website needs an explanation about what they accept and why they might decline items. I brought in new with tags designer items (current season) and they were not taken, and that seems strange, but still not the biggest problem. My biggest issue is the employees themselves. The person I interacted with seemed to be lost and not understand the process at all. I can understand someone being new, but they should at least be prepared to buy items. This person then gave me an incorrect return time (they were off by an hour). And seemed confused, uninterested and rude. Finally after accepting around half of my items, I was given back my basket. It was a disaster! Items were thrown in and crumpled up. I brought everything in freshly laundered and ironed. This was ridiculous. I will sell items myself via eBay or another option in the future. Overall, if you want to find a deal go to shop. Don't go to sell. I would always choose Uptown Cheapskate over this if your in Wichita and choose to use this type of service. read more

This is the worst place to sell clothes. I brought in practically brand new clothing and they took only 4 items out of my bag and only gave me $17.50. My biggest issue with this store chain is that they don't give you what your clothes are worth. It should be illegal to sell your clothes for way less than what they're going to sell them for. The customer service is aweful there! I have brought nice clothes in a couple times and they would take nothing. This past time I called ahead of time and asked if they were needing what I planned to take and and I was told yes, once I got there (and let me note some of my jeans still had new tags on them and others were barely worn) they gave me attitude and took none of my clothes and said they were over stalked...if that's the case then don't waste peoples time by saying the opposite on the phone. I have been to Platos Closet on four different occasions. I feel the quality of items they accept are rather low class. I noticed several shirts with holes, and boots that have scuff marks and the imitation leather peeling off. The prices of these items did not reflect the damages. While its a good place to shop for very casual ware, please check each and every item very carefully for holes. The return policy is very strict. Once you take the tags off you are SOL! read more

Not very impressed. Walked in with about 15-20 items (some with tags still on them) to sell. The employees weren't overly friendly, but were decent. They took my stuff and gave me a ticket to come back in 20 minutes to get things finished. I browsed around and didn't see anything that I loved, but stuff was mostly reasonably priced. When I went up to the counter they told me "we were interested in 8 pieces and can give you $21.40". I was surprised considering those 8 items consisted of American Eagle Jean shorts, Hollister skinny jeans, VS pink shirt and 5 other shirts in great condition. They told me they couldn't take more because their inventory was very full, which I understand. I probably won't be going back to sell there unless I'm in desperate need of cash. read more

I haven't left a review of this store in a few years, I decided to give them another chance and once again I was horribly disappointed and will NEVER take stuff here again. I would rather give my stuff away then deal with the rude staff who basically look you up and down, take a quick glace at the bag of stuff you bring in, don't even go through it and don't take anything. A really great place to sell your already gently worn clothing. They take mens clothing, shoes, jewelry, clothing, and purses. The last time I was their they weren't taking much shirts because they are packed with shirts! They always have something amazing for you and the prices are okay. Be careful what you sell them because they might not give you what you want. I once sold them a 60 dollar Betsey Johnson bag that was fairly new and I think they only would sell it to me for 11 dollars. I wish I wouldn't have sold it to them but oh well. If your needing a couple extra dollars just bring in your clothing you don't want. Also, they wont take clothing that has rips, holes or stains. So I would look it over. I wouldn't recommend going on a weekend because you'd be waiting a few hours like I did. They won't let you leave the building either, so you pretty much have to stay their and look around. read more

My wife went in there with a full 30+ gallon bag of freshly laundered name brand clothes. Missme shorts being one of the biggest name brands, including new clothes. The missme shorts she bought FROM THERE & didnt wear. They said they were all too worn & gave her eight bucks but didn't even want THEIR shorts. I bought a couple shirts. Noticed they were stained later. They buy trashy clothes, let good clothes go & their customer service is poor. I'm sorry but it doesn't take 5 girls to even tell us where our clothes, that they didn't want, are. Horrible experience & not the first. Won't get another chance. They charge too much for their items in the store and don't want to pay you anything for what they buy from you. When I went to this store it seemed to have decent clothing not alot in my size but I am rather tall(inseam 35) and I'm slightly thick (waist 30-31) so my size isn't really common. So finding items in my size is rare and even shirts long enough are hard to find at any store really. But I did try to sell some clothing to them and beware if it's older than 6 months old they won't take them. The girls weren't exactly pleasant and they treated me like I had some raggedy clothes when everything I wear is name brand and the only jeans I wear are Silver Jeans. So needless to say I haven't returned there since then and this was last winter. May go back but I'm not sure with how they snarreled their noses at me that I will. I didn't think it was a very friendly place, but it could have been just a bad day. read more
