how am i supposed to "recycle my style" if you don't take anything? i've been coming here since i was a kid. we've never had much money so it was a good place to go. some hidden treasures in there but most of the stuff is dodgy so we thought maybe we could get at least $10-$20 for clothes. i love dressing nice, styling clothes, and keeping up with trends but in an affordable way. no, i don't have a $100 pair of leggings or any athletic wear for that price but that's what they want. they say they want sweaters. i brought in a Champion sweater that was worn twice and they said it had "wear and tear" ... i came with a full bin and they took nothing. so there goes my holiday shopping, i guess. happens every time i go there. read more

I've been shopping at Plato's since I can remember, and every time I go there, I end up getting back in my car with a bag of incredible, thrifted items. These can range from classic shoes (Vans, Converse, etc.) to high-end clothes (like Limited dresses or Aerie tops). The clothes are usually high-quality and not damaged, aside from assorted shoes and some belts. But even so, it is a thrift store--these items aren't going to be brand new. That's one of the joys of thrifting: finding clothes that have personality. And Plato's has a lot of personality. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the clothes trade-in pricing is a tad unfair and varies a lot. I've brought in baskets of clothes with roughly the same quality of items in them and gotten wildly different payments for them. But regardless of the compensation, I love this store. It's got the look of a boutique and the prices of a thrift store. I'll keep coming back as long as the doors stay open. read more

Really overpriced for really worn and out of style clothing. I brought tons of clothing in here hoping to just use whatever money they gave me for my old clothes towards something new in the store. It didn't happen that way at all. I expected I'd have to wait awhile because it was busy in there, so I just spent my time looking for new items to purchase. I must of looked so ridiculous because as I'm looking through these dingy clothes, I didn't have to say a word as to what I was thinking..my RBF generally says it for me!! Finally my name was called and I was so excited to get out of that store, leave all the stuff I didn't need behind and get extra cash..again not the case. The girl at the register said she can give me $12.50. WHAT??!! She told me they had enough summer clothes and needed winter items. I wasn't aware that we don't wear shirts or jeans in the winter, but what do I know lol! Moral of the story, I will never go back to this place again. Very worn, dingy, Walmart clothes on the racks while they won't take designer item and they are extremely overpriced. Oh well..Lesson learned! read more

Today 10/23/18 I walked in the store with an elderly lady that we were helping moving. Its very hard for elderly to let go of things nevertheless move out there home into with family. The day was a adventure and delightful experience. Once we entered Plato's The smile and assistance was over whelming. Somewhere, so many smiling people, so filled with joy and a gift to help and assist , WOW! WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so thrilled and blessed. What a great place to go and shop. The prices are so great , that your find yourself in a wow stage and a oh moment. Way to go gals, your doing a great job. The floor plan was neat and well organized, making things so appealing and easy to get to. read more

Platos closet is a joke, I would give it less stars if i could but yelp wont let me. For starters they're not fair to all customers when it comes to taking gentally used clothes. I would always take in nice, good quality name brand clothes from ,express, abercrombie, etc that were in very good condition and recieve only 2-6 dollars for a bag of clothes. Which makes no sense because i dress pretty nice, and take exceptionally good care of my clothes. And the bag of clothes that i had was a nice size. Other customers would come in with much older, smaller amounts of worn out clothes and recieve 20-25 dollars. AND the clothes werent designer or name brand. 20-25 for their bag and a few pennies for mine????? So a couple of times this happened i asked why??? They said they grade everyones clothes differently. And the lady told me my express shirt came out LAST season. But the other lady's stuff was from many moons ago and had dust on it!!!!!!!!! Basically to put it nicely they have extremely questionable and UNJUST means on what they give some people verses others. Which is not a good business practice. INSIDE THE STORE: Also while they were sorting out my clothes I browsed around the store to check out their merchandise and it was DEPLORABLE!!!!!!!! I found shoes with worn out soles on the bottom, and belts that were stretched out with old cracked leather. And some of their items had dust on them!!! I mean ALOT!!! OMGOSH!!!!! But yet PLATO's closet wouldnt take a good quality name brand shirt from express because it was 6 months old!!!!!!!!???????? Plato's closet is ridiculous!!! All i can say if a person buys any of their clothes... to wash it first because Lord knows where it came from, or whats on it. Overall if you're looking for cash back on your clothes, you may OR may NOT strike gold. read more

zomg. Yeeeeeeeaaaaaah... I scored a quarter (or less) of my money back for the amount I originally spent on my clothing!! I win! I beat the system!! They took all my clothing after cleaning out my leftovers from college that took me so long to come back for. Of course they took all my stuff, I have awesome taste in clothing and only buy the finest. I'm kidding of course. I'm not that smug in real life. Anyway, I just liked that they took up a lot of my unworn clothing I've stored up for a couple years now that are still stylish. I could never shop here but it's great for trading in old clothes that I can't return or pieces that are gently loved for cash. Then I can walk over and see what TJ Max has. This place is way overpriced for used clothing!! And forget about selling clothes here .. it's near impossible to sell and you don't get a lot either! I was trying to sell a brand new Under Amour Notre Dame shirt with tags hanging and the best they could do is give me $2.00 for it!! Forget that! This place is ridiculous! read more
