I CALLED BEFORE COMING!! I asked before I drove 45 mins out of my way what I needed to do to drop off, how much are you accepting, what season are you accepting. Not once did they say it can't be brought in trash bags. The girl at the counter tried to make me to next door & buy reusable bags to drop off something she's going to dump out of the bay & accept or turn down then put it back in my trash bags. What does it matter what it's brought in? If it mattered so much WHY didn't you say that when I called prior to making this one way 45 min drive!?! I will not be dropping off here or shopping here. WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW DO NOT GO TO THIS PLATOS CLOSET!!!!!!!! THEY ARE GIVING FAKE BILLS!!!! Went in today with my boyfriend, we went in to sell some clothes, since it would only be 20min we decided to walk around the store. When our clothes were done we went to the register and was told we would receive $40.68. (After receiving the money she told us "that should be right") my boyfriend took the money, we thanked them, and left. When we got home and we was putting his wallet away he realized one of the $20s was FAKE!! Not just any fake it said straight on the bill "USED FOR MOTION PICTURES". Dropped of a tote full of clothes today. The staff was very friendly and told me that it would be about an hour for them to go through my stuff. They sent me a text almost exactly an hour from the time I dropped my stuff off. Went back to the store and again the staff was super friendly. They made me an offer for what they wanted and I took it. I took the rest of the stuff back with me. The nice lady even noticed that I had some kids size clothing and told me where I could take those to sell. Guys here's the thing, the employees aren't trying to rip us off (well they shouldn't be). They put our items into their system to see if they came take it and it only gives us a certain percentage. If they gave us what it was actually worth, they'd never make any money! So you can't get mad when they take your items for like $3 or whatever. If you want to make more money, sell it yourself! I liked this place because they took some of the stuff I gave them and the rest I'll either try and sell myself or just donate it. They also texted me when my stuff was done, which was only like 20 minutes later! If you don't wanna go through the hassle of selling it yourself, then do yourself and a bunch of other people a favor and DONATE IT. I just sold 2 Kate spade bags practically never used and in really good condition and only got $26 for both. I felt pressured into accepting the offer and didn't want to sit and argue about it so I did but I feel stupid now. Plato's Closet is a rip off. Will not be going there again. read more

Rude staff, act like everything is an inconvenience to them. Came to return something 5 min before the store was supposed to close, and they had the doors locked and wouldn't let me return it. Store hours are listed for a reason and it's incredibly unprofessional not to let someone in before the store says it's closed. Wish they allowed negative stars. Staff is rude ,lazy, and disrespectful. After just blowing off their awful customer service several times, I contacted management. After several in store attempts and several emails, I finally got a response. Without any hesitation I now understand why the staff act as they do. When the owner hires and trains them, employee's will typically act as owner does. With 20+ yrs in the retail industry I can assure you this is a prime example of how not to run a store. I have yet to visit another location of Plato's Closet, because of my experience here. To be fair the other locations have great reviews, so I may visit the Greenville store. Corporate should definitely pull there franchise. read more

Came here a year ago and met a really nice lady working there. Came here recently to pick up item and staff is very blunt/rude. Clothing items are very old/stained. The one in greenville is AMAZING. If the staff was more approachable in anderson I'd feel a little different/might still go to the store. But I'm definitely going to the greenville one from now on. read more

Don't even bother trying to sell your clothes here. I brought a decent sized bag of stuff, with new shirts from Rue 21 and Target, and when I came back after waiting for an hour that they hadn't taken a single thing. I could tell when I got the bag that they didn't even look at most of because it was folded exactly like I packed it. They wasted an hour of my time and gas money, not going to try again. read more

Every time I go in here staff are talking poorly about bosses, other co workers and customers. I am a college student as well and it is really unprofessional and unsettling to here the staff talk about their other employees or customers while people are shopping in the store. I put all my items back after hearing this go on for well over 5 minutes. This has happened every time I have gone in the last 3 times and I refuse to go back. The employees are unprofessional, always rude when I bring clothes (as if they'd rather be doing anything else) and have more than once made a negative comment about my clothing to each other while I was still in the store. If you don't want to be talked about or hear petty drama while trying to shop I wouldn't go to this store! read more

Prices are great, just like every other plato's closet. Good bang for your buck. But I will say their staff is very rude and unprofessional. As a girl was going through my clothes, she picked out items and verbally expressed to another employee how a shirt was ugly!!! I guess she didnt know I was standing right there. They also just tossed my freshly laundered and folded clothes crumbled back into my container I brought, and after passing on nwt items which is OK, I understand they can not take things sometimes and have to pass. When waiting to even pick up my items, I stood for about 10 minutes while two employees had a conversation about a boyfriend... Not a work conversation. I am a college student, and I still noticed these things which prove the unprofessionalism. I was baffled and embarrassed that the store allows these kinds of employees. I just wanted to state these as it has sat on me, because of this experience I will no longer return to this Plato's Closet. read more
