If you're looking for a beach with beautiful views, clear waters, and places to do some exploring,…read morePlatjes Cala Conta = perrrrrfect. Came here with a few friends and overall, it was a very relaxing time :) Things to note: -Transportation: If you taxi here, be aware that catching a taxi back to the city is veryyyyy difficult since there are few to none taxi that would swing by. Highly recommend having a car to get here or research the bus route. My friends and I took the bus back to San Antonio and luckily, all went well. -Limited food: Make sure to pack food & water if you intend to stay here all day. There's a restaurant nearby (a bit pricey) and a small stand that sells snacks & beverages. If you choose to eat at the restaurant, make sure you have reservations since this place stays super busy all day, especially near sunset time. -Jellyfishes: There are no signs for jellyfish warnings but do be careful when you get in the water. My friend got stung by a small red one and thankfully, it wasn't a fatal sting. Lifeguards are nearby for medical help if you need it. -Exploration: Highly recommend venturing out and exploring this beach! :) This was my favorite thing to do since there was so much to see! From hidden coves (requires hiking/climbing down the rocks), nude beach (didn't get a chance to see though), and other cool areas. -Crowd: Not too crowded actually :) This is more of a family / relaxing beach, so not too much rowdy people. Bathing suit tops are optional~ -Water: Not too cold, and if you go out far enough, you can see little fishes swimming around -Sunset: Beautiful sight hereeeee. Overall, it's worth staying for the sunset if you have time. Love this pretty beach :D

Occasionally in life, you come across places which leave a vivid imprint on your memory and, after…read morewhich, you judge all others. The little cove beyond Cala Conta is one such place, which we came across on a walk around the coast of Ibiza a few years ago. Now, I've seen some pretty impressive beaches across the world, many in far more exotic places, but when we talk of holidays, it's always this cove we come back to. It was on a day at the end of the season. After a long, hot walk, we were just in the mood for a dip, but with some peace and quiet. The cove fitted the bill perfectly. It had a rocky edge, but the bottom was sandy and shallow, and the water a beautiful azure blue. There were gentle waves and a subtle, caressing breeze. The water was beautifully clear and warm like a swimming pool, only with fish and the odd octopus crawling along the sandy bottom. I spent hours blissfully swimming, interspersed with a little sunbathing. Only a couple of other tourists shared the cove. It was wonderful. We almost dare not go back, in case it breaks the spell. Practicalities Cala Conta has a long sandy stretch with a couple of bars and a restaurant, with great views over some offshore islands, and a handful of smaller coves (including 'ours') to the right of the beach. In the summer, DJs provide soundtracks to glorious sunsets, and there's some car parking by the main beach. Local buses and ferries stop off in the summer.

One of the best beaches of Formentera and conveniently enough the closest one to the main port. You…read morecan easily take a taxi to here after arriving at the marina from ibiza. The taxi prices are set and in 2017 the price was €12.70 each way. The taxi will drop you off at the intersection of Illetes and Llevant (the beach on the other coast of this narrow stretch of land). You will come back to this point to take a taxi back (you may ask any of the beach restaurants to call a cab to come pick you up, but since there has been such increase in tourism, there are a few cabs waiting to pick people up at any given moment). It's a very famous beach that has a narrow strip of sand and is very long. There are limited sections with beach chairs to rent (at start of the beach closest to Piratas restaurant), but most lay out on the sand. A sandy beach with super calm water that extends fairly far at shallow depths makes it a great option for children, those who can't swim or have mobility issues. Even with the drastic increase in tourism making it crowded now even in September, it is still very peaceful and a place where it's easy to forget the time. Very hard to leave here before the sunset. The good thing is that now they extended the ferry service hours to run way past the 6:30pm final boat in the prior years, so now you get the opportunity to view the sunset from here even if you're not staying on Formentera overnight.
