Beautiful spot along the GR 92. Hiked along the Costa Brava and after a very harrowing trek after Portbou, this was a welcomed change of pace. Beautiful, but be sure to pack your water and snacks! read more

If you have…read morethe time to visit the immaculate region of Costa Brava during your trip to Spain, Playa de Llafranc is an excellent beach to explore during your journey. The quaint beach town of Palafrugell is picturesque and Playa de Llafranc is the perfect little beach to relax at. The water is so clean and clear! The perfect aqua hue with the most shallow and inviting waves. Trust me, you WILL be getting into this water while you're here. It's so peaceful and calming. There are others who will also be there enjoying this beautiful beach too, but crowded is what it is NOT. There is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. The sand is so soft and warm. The water temp is perfect too. Even in Mid-October the weather was just fabulous and I couldn't resist getting in. The views are what makes this destination so special. Not only do you have the most impressive coastal views, but you'll also get some gorgeous views of the pretty beach towns that surround the area. I actually saw a live octopus swim up shore while I was here. A gentleman on the beach picked him up and everyone gathered around to take a peek. It was pretty interesting. I've never seen an octopus just casually wash up on the shore like that before. Not in Hawaii, not in Mexico, and definitely not in Florida or California. That's how you know this beach is different. Even the octo's are loving it! What's nice is that this beach is super accessible and easy to get down to. There are a few restaurants that are literally steps away if you get hungry and want to enjoy lunch with a coastal view. Spent the afternoon here and enjoyed every second of it. I was actually bummed to leave but the drive is pretty long from Barcelona (roughly 3 hours long). Next time I'd definitely stay in town and explore more of the coast, but it makes for a wonderful day trip too.

Set a short…read morewalk from a beautiful sandy beach in a spot that gets more than its fair share of summer sun, it's a peaceful family retreat with enough going on to keep all ages happy. There is a huge pool complex, complete with in-pool bar, loads of play areas for kids and the whole site is full of sweeping palms and shrubs that gives a real 'back to nature' feel. You can either bring your own camping gear or book with Canvas Holidays as well as some other UK-based firms. The beach is probably the main attraction however, as it's by far the most beautiful I've visited in France, but it manages not to be overly crowded or commercial. The beach is broken up by a shallow lagoon that kids love for surfing practice, and the backdrop of the nearby Pyrenees I've love to go back one day, but am worried that doing so would spoil the memories!

The road is lazy and just goes around the hills, slowly getting you to your destination - just like life there, no rush, no city craziness. I stopped on the top of the hill to catch the view of the waters and Narbonne... It was calling me, and I kept going. Pristine clean beach, white sand and freezing water (brrr) welcomed me soon enough - this beach is absolutely beautiful. Parking is pretty easy - found a spot on street, and walked to the beach with no shoes on. PS. Tanned tall handsome guys in speedos lounging on the beach were a plus, too PPS. With summer in full swing in NYC, I still miss all that.
