Felt bad for my buddy who I talked into playing here. Was told by the starter how fast the greens were and how the ball runs forever on the fairways. Oh yes, he was right because those greens and fairways have not seen a drop of water except from the sky in a while. The course layout was very interesting but that designer is flipping over in his grave (if he's passed on) to see what they have done to this course. The City Muni is in better shape and for half the price. Going to play Legends in Summerville this week which is much better maintained. Won't be back to RiverTowne and I will spread the word about our experience.

I love the golf course and have been saddened because of a torn rotator cuff, which thankfully is healing. I miss my time on the course with my buddies. Rich allows us 2 tee times every Thursday in the early afternoon at a steep discount and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate him and all he and his staff do for us. The course is challenging and always in immaculate condition. It is my favorite in the entire area. I was finally getting used to it and figuring my game out when I was injured, so it looks like I'm going to have to do that all over again. And I'm looking forward to it. A bad day on the golf course beats a good day pretty much anywhere else. My only complaint is that they have no hot dogs on the traveling snack cart. There are times when eating a hot dog is the best part of my game. Ha! When finished with a round I always go into the club and sit at the bar. I order a cheeseburger off their menu rather than the ones they send out on the course. I've never been disappointed, they're always delicious and the staff is friendly even though I'm not a member. If you go out and play that course for the first time, please leave me a message and let me know what you think. I've folded all over this world for 52 years (minus a few off for back surgery) and this is THE one I absolutely love. Thank you Rich for being so good to us old veterans. . You're the man!!

The 18 hole "Ralston Creek" is an exciting 18 hole regulation course, where you need to step up your game a notch, if not these 2 courses will cut you in half.. From the longest tees, the course plays to about 7,446 yards of golf for a par of 72, that my friends is about current U.S.OPEN length, with a lower slope rating though.course rating is 74.4 with a slope rating of 134. The Nationwide tour still hosts an event here and truthfully, if there were the room for bleachers, concessions and transportation. With a few weeks work to narrow the fairways and toughen up the greens, I believe the PGA could host an event here, it is that good.The course was designed by Rees Jones and opened in 2006. The 18-hole "Beresford Creek" course at the Daniel Island Club features 7,093 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . This is the older of the two courses and opened around 2000.The course rating at Beresford Creek is 74.4 and it has a slope rating of 134, so it plays shorter, but no less difficult.

My sticking points are the continued slow play and no Marshall to manage it, waiting 10-15 minutes every hole to tee off is a bit much with a 5 hour plus round of golf not good. Then the second sticking point is letting the cart lady leave at 5 pm sucks our group was ready to drink and on a Saturday when the Marshall knows play is 45 minutes behind, we only got 1 drink and never saw her again! Only 4 Stars !

The course is in pretty good shape and with the VIP program you can usually play 18 for $65ish which is pretty good value for this course. My biggest gripe with this place is the pace of play and the food y. Every time I play there it gets backed up and the food options are quite limited.

In addition to all the upscale amenities you'd expect, including pools, golf, club houses, tennis courts and walking trails, you'll also find a boat launch and kayak rack. No baseball courts, but other than that, you won't get bored if you're fortunate enough to live here... or have friends who do!

I like Daniel Island (or "DI" as the kids call it). Well planned community. Smart putting the power…read morelines under ground. Also smart building a pizza place on the water, a cool concert venue/events stadium at the start of downtown, and a big park (including a smaller park for dogs and an even smaller park for little dogs) just off the highway. There's also great rollerblading on the sidewalks around the golf club communities.
