My friend and I had a very disappointing experience at Planet Beach Tanning in Oro Valley several months ago. We drove quite a distance to come check it out. We were visiting based on a referral who mentioned halo therapy & sauna service here. Our visit was full of non sense that lasted way too long . While the front desk staff member was amazing, the manager's behavior (Dee) was extremely rude and condescending. She mocked our nicknames and made several unnecessary phone calls to us both for simple approvals, which made the experience quite unpleasant. With so many other options for similar services in Oro Valley & Tucson, I cannot recommend this business to anyone . If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

I had a great experience at Planet Beach. Rachel was the star of the visit. She was helpful, professional, and made sure everything was set up correctly for both my tan and red light therapy. I went to this tanning salon yesterday and had a frustrating experience. The tanning bed didn't work three different times, which was incredibly inconvenient. When I asked for help, the employee came running out from the back with smeared lipstick, her hair undone, and there was makeup scattered all over the floor in the back area. The whole situation seemed very unprofessional and disorganized. I used to go here. Actually, I was a client for two years. But in that time I saw a lot of change. This went from a tanning salon with one hot something and a red light bed to other stuff and tanning. They only update the lights, not the beds. So yes, you will see one with a tape deck/radio, maybe CD attached to it. You see, tanning isn't where the money is anymore, so all that other minutia. Staff as a whole are nice, but get on the bad side of one and it's wall of doom when they see you. Pricing goes up even if you want to renew, and they imply you need to buy the tanning creams they sell because the owner says so. I ignored and brought my own in because you will get them cheaper online. Need to use those stickers because you forgot your eye goggles? 77 cents. There is no doubt that if a plastic surgery with a laser was available, you would see them push it. They are seriously lucky there isn't a competitor around OV up in the northern part. Horrible experience! They charged me for goggles before I even removed from counter after I said I didn't want. The place is dirty and has cobwebs in the most used bed in ceiling corners. The teenage worker talked down to me and VERY condenscending! Rude rude rude causing me to cancel and NEVER want to go back!!! read more

Planet Beach is a great way to tan, relax and enjoy the many options they offer. The staff is EXCEPTIONAL

While I was very excited for their monthly spray tan membership as I found the price to be fair and the quality of the booth impressive, I am disappointed in their customer service. Two separate times I drove in for a tan where the hours on Yelp and Apple Maps were listed incorrectly. The second time this happened, I arrived between 10-15 minutes before closing (accidentally as I thought I had a full hour and 15), and was told I couldn't spray tan that close to closing. I texted the manager to share my frustration of now visiting twice where the hours didn't match and I was unable to tan, truthfully looking for an apology for the trouble or a "wow let me get these hours corrected". Instead I received a photo of the only source (Google) that had hours listed correctly. I personally don't feel like someone needs to check three different sources to understand the hours, but maybe it isn't important to them. Today I show up to cancel my membership, decide to tan beforehand just to see if even after expressing "why" I'm cancelling someone acknowledges the inconvenience, nada. I did give feedback to the kind lady upfront that truly a simple acknowledgment or care would have kept my business. Even then, it was met with an okay. This is a little gem in the NW. I use both red light therapies(body and facial) which has helped my skin so much. Especially with my skin allergy from my job. I also use the Himalayan salt bed for my lungs. It's so relaxing in all three of these. I LOVE the deep tissue massage chair with the red light facial. I highly recommend you check it out. read more

I am having serious back issues so I went into planet beach in OV because I saw they had a massage chair and what looked like a sort of hot room that I thought would help. The owner showed me around and I agreed to their $69 a month plan. After I signed the owner mentioned in passing that a 60 day notice was required if I wanted to cancel. I used their massage chair once, it is basically falling apart and I tried sone "red lift" therapy once and the hot room once. I decided this was not the place for and was fine paying the 60 days but NO it's not 60days it's 3 months and then you can give your 60 day notice! If you sign up for the monthly deal you are stuck for 5 months! Unless you like to tan this is a big big big rip off! Run as fast as you can folks read more

This place is a rip-off, the employees do not know what they are doing. Their 60 day cancellation is really a 90 day cancelation. Who has a 60 day cancelation unless you are a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not use!!!!!!!!Planet Beach Ripped Me Off I followed their policy which their employee explained to me prior to the 1st that I would have to come in to cancel my membership on the 1st. I contacted my bank to stop payments to Planet Beach prior to the 1st. On the 1st i went to Planet Beach to cancel, when I showed up to pay my 60 day cancellation (60 day cancellation scam) the girl indicated my payment had not processed for the month which I indicated that I cancelled the payment so i can submit my cancelation. the girl nindicated that I had to make my payment for the 1st to initiate my 60 day cancellation for the 60 days after that month. ( my math makes it a 90 day cancellation) I asked the girl to request a call from the owner to dicuss this 60/90 day scam. Instead the girl called me back to say the owner indicated that I hads to follow through the 60/90 day scam process no exceptions. SCAM Since I did not have a choice and my lease was expiring, I paid and initiated the transaction to initiate the 60/90 day termination. I called back to assure that Planet Scam Oro Valley was going to only collect for an additional 2 payments and the girl reassured me I was all set. My girl friend identified fraud by Planet Beach on charges after her termination, so i checked my account with a bank representative and they saw where i stopped the payment prior to the 1st and I paid at the physical location with my debit card as I indicated. The Owner NEVER called. Planet Rip Off Beach continued to charge me for 7additional months and indicated that they would of sent me an email that appears, I never recieved. The Owner Scammer Has not Called me Yet even after 100 requests literally that I have made for the Scamming Owner and Yet, No Call!!!!!!!!!!!! I am recontacting my Bank to contest the FRAUDULENT Charges by PLANET FRAUD!!!!! I will continue to SHRED PLANET BEACH (FRAUD) Oro Valley on Social Media, the BBB, All State Agencies, Federal Agencies, All Developmernts within the Oro Valley Area, I will Post Flyers as well as calling All at Public Grocery Stores and Businesses in the Oro Valley as well as calliung All the Businesses to prevent the spread of Planet Scam Beaches FRAUDULENT Practices until the Owner contacts me or I put Planet Beach out of Business!!!!! Here's the back story. I'm a native Oregonian and just moved to Tucson from Portland. My new home has a pool (fancy, eh!) but I'm not a fan of skin cancer or looking like I'm 90 years with leather skin. Insert spray tanning! There aren't as many tanning places in Arizona (shocker) as Oregon. I checked my beloved Yelp for ideas. Insert Planet Beach. It's kinda scary walking into a new place, figuring out which machines they use, if the folks are nice, I'd they have a clean facility, if they charge extra for things like the sexy, sassy hair nets, etc. I stopped by PB earlier this week and Molly and Jessica were working. I asked about spray options and Molly shared their current specials. I was looking for a long time gig, becaise IT'S ALWAYS SHORTS TIME IN AZ. Well, maybe not always. I signed up for the six month commitment and will be stopping in once a week. Molly explained the ins and outs of the contract very well. I stopped by yesterday to tan and Jessica helped me. The machine was great, they provide little nose plugs and eye protection for free. And, the hair net was free too (I know you were wondering), I'm sure that this will be my new tan home. I've never been to a spa before, but I'm getting older and wanted to mitigate some of the (ahem) physical changes to my skin that are becoming more obvious by the day. And I have to say, I'm really impressed with the results. My skin is browning nicely and is so much softer and smoother to the touch due to the red light therapy and salt bed. Their awesome $15 spray tan Groupon brought me here despite the 30 minute drive. While the price is a steal and the worker was really nice, I would not go here again. I have gotten Mystic tans a gazillion times and know how it works. This is the only place that has made me so streaky and uneven that it could be visible in pictures. Unfortunately, I was given an offer for a free service. After receiving many texts asking me to set an appointment for my service, I did. Soon afterward I was told that my appointment needed to be rescheduled to let someone else have my time. I thought that was strange, but was willing to help so I changed the appointment. Soon after that, before my appointment, I was contacted to see if I was interested in buying the membership. Keep in mind I hadn't even been to the appointment yet. I told them no, I wasn't interested at that very moment. So.... when I got to my appointment I found that my appointment was canceled and again, given to someone else. I rescheduled even though I was pretty irritated at this point. However, once again today they gave my appointment away and tried to reschedule so someone else could have my appointment. I visited last Saturday while in town for the weekend. Meghan applied a fantastic and perfect spray tan. It had absolutely no streaks and didn't turn orange. The best part is I could shower an hour after if I wanted and it is a week later and I still have a nice tan. The staff were professional and the quality is great! read more

Great place on the NW Side... we've needed a place like this. Just signed up. Clean, welcoming. Solid staff. The girl working the counter (megan?) made things simple and comfortable. Not to mention, she REALLY knew her stuff. She gave me all my options that made sense, prices and filled out a bunch of paperwork that would of taken me 4 times as long as she had it done. Actually she let me go tan while she finished things up. Don't know if she is a manager or just really informed desk chick but she was great. Thx. I love this spa and the membership idea; great option for in-between 'real' spa treatments and massages (thus the 4 vs. 5 stars). I have been a member for a while and found them through a super Groupon deal. I find the facility always clean, neat, the staff is always polite, friendly and helpful. I appreciate their recommendations on how to properly combine services for max benefit, product information, suggestions and their happy attitudes. I have never had a problem or issue here. I appreciate also that my appointment requests are honored whenever possible - no trouble getting in for a desired time slot. If not available, usually the wait is less than 15 minutes. It's a great location for me to pop in over my lunch hour which affords me a little siesta/relaxation from the office. I have used all of their offerings except spray tan, which I just don't care for. I have been satisfied with each and love the Red Light Therapy; I like that you can do more than one session of RL in a row for maximum benefit. The hydration station, both lay-down tanning beds,and the photo-light facial are my faves. I have also done the teeth whitening. A note on that: the kit is slightly expensive, but coupons are honored and discounts offered frequently. I experienced a NOTICEABLE difference after first use. Very impressed. And, despite the cost outlay, was still about $150 cheaper than dental - so if wanting a quick fix for a vacation or special night/weekend, I would not hesitate to try this. I know it does not replace DDS level treatment, but still works. Nothing but good experiences here. Give them a whirl. read more

I had to bite my tongue but she was so condescending and even though I had paid for the higher end bed she stuck me in the "basic" bed. Sneaky! I asked after I was done and she said I was in a VIP bed. I said well I know I paid for the higher end bed and she said "you paid for sessions"..... I about jumped over the counter! Under new ownership and a great Planet Beach! The owner added Hot worx which is automated workouts in an infrared heated room. I don't usually like hot yoga or hot anything and i loved the class and felt great afterwards. Squeaky Clean spa, good clean tanning beds, and other spa options that Planet Beaches usually offer, and the equipment is all well maintained. I don't personally get spray tans, but I hear the spray tans here are great and have friends who had good results. read more

I have been a member at this salon for many years now and recently it went under new ownership. I was worried that things were going to change for the worse because I really liked the spa before but I am happy to see that that didn't happen. I am enjoying the new look and excellent services they offer. My favorite is the red light therapy. It helps with my achy joints and sun damaged skin. It only takes about 15 minutes three times a week to start seeing results on my skin. I was shocked! Updating my review from 5 yrs ago. This salon is under new management and doing a swell job. The facility is updated, modernized and very pleasing. I've always found it to be extremely clean, which I appreciate. Members can now book appointments online, which I love. There are new services (HotWorx Yoga, etc.) Lots of specials, sales, discounts, and events. Very professional staff. I'm very glad to have renewed my membership. It's a great way for me to chill/relax on my lunch hour to resume my day, or a nice way to unwind after work as well. My ONLY complaint is that I like peace and quiet during my sessions and when the radio is on loud up front or the phone is ringing off the hook it's very distracting. Was in the middle of a hydration treatment tonight, just drifting off to my happy place and WHAM - loud radio up front ... totally killed my vibe. But other than that, it's great for me. And I get others like music. This is just a me thing. I'll bring ear plugs. =) I feel for an affordable, menu-option establishment that has quick hit services, products, and availability, it can't be beat. It's a great way to affordably practice self-care, get healthy, pamper yourself, relax and take a short time for yourself. And my skin looks terrific! Yay! read more

The facility is horrible when communicating company polices. Their employees are not trained on the company polices and because of their lack to do so, it cost me another months charge. They refused to refund back that month even though there were clear notes in the computer stating my request from two months. I should have known this was going to happen since I had problems from the get go when they made two accounts for me. read more
