However some floors need to update the carpets. The bigger rooms were nicer. Smaller rooms were traditional. Lounge and their staff were spot on. Now to the Cons: We received the keys to our 1st room...yes I said 1st room....are we tracking? Ok, Once we arrive to the floor, we instantly see tape repair to multiple areas in the hallway carpet. Once we get into our double room, we don't immediately notice any issues until we start getting ready to go out. We discover the sink faucet starting to leak constantly. By day 2, I decide to go ahead & report because this is a business & repair is necessary to keep rooms available, right? Upon reporting, the maintenance gentleman makes us aware that it can't be fully repaired, parts aren't available, therefore 2 choices; stay in room with leaky faucet or move rooms (my friend elects to stay in room to avoid moving all her stuff). Maintenance then tells us about 30 mins later that now we have to move rooms because we no longer have hot water, secondary to the faucet change attempt. We then get to the front desk for room change. Per manager, no discount on the room pricing however, we were provided Dining vouchers, $25 each, for the 3 of us (up to $75 total). Ok fine! Now we get to our 2nd room, which is a little larger, corner room BUT, the shower faucet now has the same issue. At least it's spewing into the tub sooooo, I noticed the desk manager, as awareness, apology was received, No, we didn't change rooms again. Why? that room probably has a leak too. we're over it at this point. Dining: The next morning, we go to breakfast with the family & use our vouchers. Large open dining, plenty of seating, bar doesn't open until 4p so, no mimosas to ease the pain of our encounters up to this point. Being that we're in New Orleans, I expected a "wow factor" from the cooks but in reality, we got a bit of "fear factor". Let me just say that I wasn't expecting "sliced cheese" to be in an omelet or on scrambled eggs, nor expected sausage links to be in a croissant breakfast sandwich. what happened here? Who knows. The great thing is, the waitress remained nice & attentive to our large party. We appreciate you Ms Shelly. Overall, hotel updates, food quality & better customer satisfaction is warranted here; esp for those visiting with longer stays. More is expected from a Marriott to remain marketable. Let's get it together Lakeway Metairie. The shell is too pretty to be fooled with lackluster inside.

Venue- The venue space was large enough to hold our guests of 150 comfortably. The added drapery and greenery to the chandeliers was such a beautiful touch that complemented our decor. We loved the option that our guests could go outside on the terrance and enjoy the sunset. The bridal suite made for beautiful photos and comfortably could fit a small bridal party. The extra touches of tissues, mints, pins, and other odds and ends that may be needed was such a thoughtful touch. Staff- Our family made several comments of how great the staff was! Everyone was so nice and helpful! Lots of smiling faces and exceptional service! Mrs. Cindy really made sure to listen to every detail and made it happen! From set up to take down she was there and made it 10x better! She checked on us regularly throughout the evening and made sure every thing ran smoothly. Budget- One of the main reasons why we choose The Alexander Room was because they offer a "Special Events" package. Since we were not hosting a wedding, we had the option to customize a package that better fit our budget. We had the option to add on certain items should we have wanted them. Food- There was an array of food options to choose from for our event. Each item we choose was absolutely delicious and Mr. Timphony ( the owner), was the chef. The Gumbo was also delicious! All and all this was a 10/10. Not a single thing to complain about. I absolutely recommend The Alexander Room for any event! They have been such a pleasure to work with! The Alexander Room and Terrance is absolutely Metairie's best kept secret when it comes to Venues!

It's located near Lakeside Mall in Metairie and shares a parking lot with other businesses in the building. Parking was a breeze the morning I was there. When I arrived I was pleased with the attentive service I received from the staff. They had breakfast service set up buffet style and the food was good. Almost as soon as I sat down, I of course spilled my water. I swear, I'm as messy am eater as a 3 year old. As I was looking for napkins an employee noticed what was going on and swooped in to clean up. Lunch service was much the same. It was a health insurance seminar, so they were challenged to find appropriate foods, and did a pretty decent job. Deli sandwich fixings and gumbo. I might have gone with a grilled chicken and veggies option and maybe offered brown rice with the gumbo. Their options were very tasty though. The staff was good about clearing the tables and they were friendly. The room is large and was very clean. There were a few chandeliers and there was an available stage area. The bathrooms were adequate and clean, but there were no paper towels available. All in all it's a nice space. Sort of a blank canvas that, with some decorating, probably dresses up nicely. It was perfect for the daytime event that I attended.

It guided ships along the lake to the canal that accessed downtown NOLA. For most of my life, it was just kind of there. According to the historical timeline on their website, the lighthouse was owned and in use by the Coast Guard until 1999....I'm not sure about that in use part. But it was one of the many structures damaged in the aftermath of Katrina. It was actually knocked off it's base and landed at an angle. There was a huge fund raising effort to rebuild the lighthouse and the create the education center. When I passed by today, the lighthouse was gated off and closed but it's still pretty to look at from the road...or from the Point. Now I'll just have to make it back to see the inside exhibit.

The food and drinks were placed on tables on the concrete Lighthouse Breezeway (under the raised lighthouse which is raised about one story above the ground). The weather held and people had a good time. Restroom facilities are in the Education Center/Gift Shop. The event ground is wheelchair friendly with ramps to get to the different levels.
