Home Park - A long time ago.

Home Park

There was a lot of resistance to Ohm Park being built, but I'm glad that it was!…read more First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - funnily enough, this is like, the only stadium I can find a picture of me at on the internet. Okay, well, it's the only stadium I found a picture of me at that wasn't totally embarrassed about. Well this one and Liverpool anyway. But there are probably pix of me at 300 others, so I'll upload them once I get them all scanned and sorted out. Pretty much all the stadium reviews I've done, I have pix to go with them. I was super young though. First time I came to Home Park was 2004, which is when the pic is from. Damn, young Fox, you need to work out. I was in college at the time... crappy meal plans, idk. Then I came back in 2007 and saw a game and absolutely fell in love. This enormous stadium looks like a ship and the Argyle mob generate such a noise, it's one of the best lower league games I ever saw. Again in 2011 I visited and saw a game while on tour, and then stopped by in 2014 again though not for a game. I'd like to see a 3rd game in 2016 and maybe third time lucky - they can finally win? They have lost and drawn the 2 games I've seen there so far. Fantastic fan support though, rain or shine. Wonderful. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from first-hand personal experience, usually from several visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited most stadiums for fun in my spare time. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to hundreds yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at most, which I'll post later. Also, when back in UK I'll take more pix, and add more stadia! *** return to regular review *** It was built in 1892, and these days can hold around 17k people which is a hell of a lot for such a lower division club (4th tier) but hopefully they'll climb back up through the divisions at some point. It's hard to give this stadium a 5/5 because it's so cool on three sides and then a little lame on the other side, but I'll still give it a 5 just for being so green and looking like a ship and being so awesome. It's never hosted top flight football but the dream lives on, you never know. It would have been a World Cup Stadium if England had won the right to host 2018 as they should have. But Russia won it. I blame Alex, the CM of Buffalo, for this. George Michael has performed here, so has Rod Stewart, Meatloaf, and, er... Westlife. The stands are named cool things like Devonport and Mayflower, and there's a lovely picture of me in front of this stadium, out there somewhere. Looks like I found it.

Good old King James was a Saint and loved Bacon. This stadium was named after his fave meal. (St…read more James' Pork). First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I had a nice little show in a living room in Exeter and afterwards, I checked out a midweek evening game at this stadium. I was so surprised! First of all, I got there near the end, and they let me in for a massively reduced rate. I don't think that's normal though. Secondly, they were absolutely lovely about it. Thirdly, the fans and stadium are awesome! Slightly out of date hence the 4, but one of the best little club stadiums I've been to. That was 2011 and I haven't been back for a game since, though I did stop by here in 2014. I look forward to seeing a second - full - game here as soon as possible. Also, when back in UK I'll take more pix, and add more stadia! *** return to regular review *** It has the same name as Newcastle's stadium but is significantly less impressive, out in the west country, less than 10k capacity, leafy and green with some Exeter buildings around it. There is a railway station right next to the ground. Before it was a stadium, it was used as a farm for fattening pigs. And with the pies served at half time, it basically still has the same use. According to the original lease, the stadium is allowed "no menageries, shows, circuses or steam roundabouts". Which makes it bizarre that they even play football there. The stadium is cute, and it's connected to lots of celebs who are fans, and Michael Jackson was once introduced to the fans here as a director by Uri Geller. All that aside, it's not one of the more impressive stadiums in the league but all the nice red and white paint bumps it up from a 3 to a 4 star ground.
