I was recently pulled over in my mustang coming back from Fast Friday's pretty late at night. I…read moretook off pretty fast at one light, and then again at the next (I may have even burned out a bit) and I saw lights in my rear view. I couldn't safely pull over for a bit so I made him follow and signaled that I'd be getting over. The officer walks up (can't recall his name) and asks that damn question that I hate "You know why I'm stopping you?" And so I reply with my typical snarky comment "because I was driving like an asshole..." I got a chuckle, he kinda looked around in the car, and asked about my night... Let me stop the story right there and point out the fact that I am a black guy, covered in tattoos, my car is Procharged with 3:73 gears, it's disgustingly loud, it's obviously seen a street race or two, and my sense of humor isn't always received well... Anyway, I replayed in my words exactly how I was driving... the whole truth... he concurred, because he had been watching :(, and then told me to have a good night and drive safe! I was so damn taken back by how pleasant of an interaction I had shared with this guy that I thanked him and shook his hand. It's truly moments like these that people perform their job so well that you obey the speed limit out of respect for their duty they have to perform. It's his job to keep that section of road safe, and I was making that more difficult, I definitely deserved a ticket or two, and he showed mercy. I really wish I remembered the guys name, and hopefully he reads this. Thanks again!

Dog in a hot car for over an hour, called animal control, police came and did nothing, I repeat nothing. It was over 90 degrees in the car and the dog had no water and two windows slightly cracked. "She's alive, so she's ok" the officer said. So does the dog need to be dead for you to do something? Ridiculous, I am truly so disappointed in this county's policeman ‍

We visited the EGPD this time for registration of our house alarm which needs renewal every 3…read moreyears. My wife hates it with a passion when it gets to where you could pay a penalty if not registered by a certain date which is in March. That happened to us 6 years ago. Like they sent us an email but my wife accidentally deleted all her emails by mistake. Aw go figure. She was really into decluttering big time lately. She said that's a gift! Heehee. She wants less screen time anyway. Aw what a silly lady. This past visit the patient police employee assisted us with the alarm registration as my wife went online at home but could not figure out how to renew that darn alarm system & she didn't want to wait any longer than necessary or pay the 50 dollar fine in March like six years before. If you observe what she did online you would understand what I mean! So my wife filled out the form/application at the nearby table & chairs. The lady whom I didn't get her name said it would be taken care of now. Yay! Got one thing done & out of the way! My wife checked it today online & confirmed it was renewed until 2029! My wife received the confirmation email in her spam folder too. Like what? Normally we use their EGPD Volunteers for house vacation watch & drop off donations when appropriate. This visit was absolutely necessary & my wife was thrilled it was taken care of!!! I'm sure we would return again in three years again to renew in person than do it online which was not apparent to do. Like why don't they make it clearer? Almost like another computer task we did recently online for our travels which was another drawn out story. Aw so annoying my wife says! & the Mercury wasn't in Retrograde yet. Well I know better next time too! Bottom line visit the EGPD!!!

Elk Grove Police is relatively responsive. As the city has become more developed and pretty…read morepopulated, the number of crimes and incidents have increased as expected, so sometimes response time might be a bit longer, probably due to traffic! We attended a BBQ on the Beat event recently, a public outreach event where egpd puts on a great BBQ for residents and kids (and kids at heart) can see cool police vehicles to include the specialty ones like the Incidence Response vehicle (it's fully bullet proof) and the Mobile Command Center. It's a good opportunity for the community to connect with the law enforcement officers and staff. It was a friendly and fun event that kids and adults alike enjoyed.

As a homeowner in midtown sacramento, I've been in need of their help and services many times. They're always prompt, professional, and thorough. They're still keeping our city safe while the liberal courts and judges let out the criminals and call them victims. Sac PD knows the difference between law-abiding, taxpaying citizens and the criminals who target us. We are the victims and SacPD is looking out for us and keeping us safe. Go SacPD, Go Blue! You're doing the Lord's work. Stay safe out there.

Family member asked me not to use it to watch the interview so I didn't. I did hear bits and pieces through the walls. I can hear the detective insinuate that why things happened was because of her. Long story short, this is why victims don't come forward. I'm ashamed at how he handled it but if I handled it on my own, "I" would've been the guilty party. It's a shame victims are blamed for things that happened to them. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement but this situation, left a mf bad taste in my mouth. Had it been his daughter, would he have said the same?

In a time of depleted resources and shrinking budgets, you'd think a Police & Community Resource…read moreCenter would be a dead zone. But not in Natomas! Here, the center is thriving and entirely run by volunteers and Managed by Molly Fling (community leader and NCA Board Member). This place opened back in 2009 with the support of then Creekside President (and now Vice Mayor) Angelique Ashby. All of the equipment/furniture resources have been donated (which is simply amazing because they've got a refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave and more). Many hands make for light work and the Resource Center embodies that. The primary functions of the Resource Center are to support the Sacramento Police Department and its officers as well as the entire Natomas Community. Like I said, this place is completely run by volunteers and provide services such as fix-it tickets, filing online police reports, code enforcement issues (or you can call 3-1-1!!!!), crime/safety tips (in the form of countless handouts/pamphlets) city resources and so much more; I can't even touch on everything this place does because they do so much! If you need to know the hours the center is open, I suggest calling because they change often (for obvious reasons such as schedules change, new volunteers in and out, etc.) Molly runs the place and is such a great individual and resource. If she is there when you drop in, say hello and hear her story. She's always willing to lend a helping hand or point someone in the right direction.

Officers are pulling over certain individuals for window tint violations while clearly ignoring many others who appear to have far darker tint--some looking like 5% or 3%--and are allowed to continue driving without being stopped. If window tint enforcement is going to be taken seriously, then it must be applied equally and fairly to everyone, not selectively based on who officers decide to target. I have personally witnessed officers pass by numerous vehicles with extremely dark tint and make no attempt to stop them, while other drivers are pulled over for the same alleged violation. This creates a clear appearance of bias and discriminatory enforcement. Under California Vehicle Code §26708, window tint laws apply to all drivers equally. Selectively enforcing this law against certain people while ignoring others undermines public trust and raises serious civil rights concerns. Racial profiling--whether explicit or implicit--is unacceptable. California law recognizes this as a serious issue: California Penal Code §13519.4 requires law enforcement agencies to prevent and address racial profiling through proper training and accountability. Government Code §11135 prohibits discrimination by any state-funded agency, including law enforcement, based on race, color, or national origin. When officers "pick and choose" who to stop, it sends the message that enforcement is not about safety or compliance, but about subjective judgment and bias. That is unfair, unprofessional, and damaging to the community's trust in law enforcement. If Folsom Police Department intends to enforce window tint laws, then every driver should be held to the same standard, not just certain individuals. Anything less is unequal treatment and contributes to the very concerns about racial profiling that California law is meant to prevent. The community deserves transparency, accountability, and fair policing--not selective enforcement. Until these issues are addressed seriously, it is hard to have confidence that traffic stops are being conducted lawfully and without bias.
