I like to plan my trip and prepare where to start and which spots will come as my day progresses. I had 2 options to visit the Plains of Abraham 1) from Saint Louis st, and 2) From Governors' Promenade- I chose this At 655m long with 308 steps it makes for one of the most memorable walks you will take when you visit Quebec. The 'promenade' takes you from Terrasse Dufferin. It connects the boardwalk in front of the Chateau Frontenac to the southernmost point of the Citadel to the Plains of Abraham. It hangs off Cap-Diamant. The Dufferin Terrace is close to the famous Chateau Frontenac hotel, the Funicular, and the Breakneck Stairs that connect Upper Town to Lower Town. The elevated promenade stretches along the Citadel with the fortification wall on one side, and a gorgeous view of the St. Lawrence River on the opposite side. You can start at either end of the boardwalk. This is a great free activity where you can get some exercise, enjoy the scenery, and make your way from one destination to another. Walking the Governors' Promenade usually ensures that you climb a whole bunch of uphill staircases and steps - at least over 300 (You can do vice versa as well) start from the Plains of Abraham and come to the boardwalk but normally you start the day from the famous spot so it's highly unlikely you will climb down Governors' Promenade is- where the Citadel meets the Plains of Abraham park along the cliff edge. The Battle of Abraham was fought here many years ago; now, the area is a sprawling park with many picnic tables and trees. The Plains of Abraham is a great place to relax or have a picnic in the sunshine. Moreover, from this vantage point, you will take hundreds of pictures. It makes for breathtaking views of the St-Lawrence River, the Ile d"Orleans, and the city.

We reserved ahead but staff were flexible when our plans unfortunately had to change (I rode a single the first week when my partner couldn't get away). Staff went all out to make sure we had a wonderful visit. Cyclo provided well-fitting helmets, a lock, and bungie cords. Cycling is a great way to see this beautiful part of the world. Thank you Cyclo staff for a epic trip!

My son was measured over at 44 inches but at home he is below that and my younger son they said he was just over 36 inches so I had to pay more even though I know he is under that height. I didn't argue, I wish I just didn't pay for my younger son as he went on only 2 rides the carousel and the car (which he didn't even want to go on). Large locker are $8 and small lockers are $4.00. It's not one time used so you can go in and out of the locker as much you want. No time limit either. Resurfacing the ice takes 30min so you'll need to plan around that. Best to take off your skates and walk around the mall and then come back. It's cool they gave their zamboni a steam punk look.

There are several pavilions housing their different animals and sea life with hilly walkways between. If you come during the colder months, be sure to dress warmly!!! You will be outside more than you expect, particularly if you want to take in some of the educational and feeding demonstrations. We arrived just in time to catch the polar bear feeding, which is a must-see. You can watch from the higher level where they toss in the food, or the lower level with an underwater view. The staff member who came out to announce the feeding and provide some information did so entirely in French, so bring your French-speaking friend or use your phone translator. Their fish pavilion was lovely. It's small if you're used to a major aquarium, like Monterey, Cali. or SeaWorld. But it is well-done and the lighting in the aquariums really made the sea life look beautiful. I like how they marked each aquarium with the species' threat levels. It was educational for our kids to learn about how biodiversity is threatened. There is an area where you can pet sea rays as well as feed them for a fee. These rays are VERY eager to be fed, so I would not recommend doing the feeding unless you are 100% unafraid of them. Mind you it's perfectly safe, they're just a tad aggressive and might frighten younger guests. There was also foxes, owls, seals, and more. We came at the end of November, which I'm guessing is not their peak season, so there was not a lot of people there and most of the food offerings were closed. There are lots of nice outdoor areas, and I bet this place really sings in the summer when all the plants and trees come back to life. You can see everything they have in probably 2 hours maximum. They have a nice gift shop where any members of your party who have a soft spot for adorable stuffed animals will absolutely lose their minds. Check it out!

GARDENS AT THE PARLIAMENT BUILDING…read more During our visit to the Parliament Building of Quebec, our library tour guide had encouraged us to explore the Parliament's gardens after her tour. We visited the gardens in front of the Parliament Building that included the lush flower beds surrounding the Fontaine de Tourny. Our favorite was the large vegetable and herb garden - but for our tour guide's advice, we probably would have missed this unmarked garden that is located off the front side of the Parliament. We entered the edible garden through a rustic arch of wood and twisted vines - the beautiful raised bed garden was full of many types of herbs and vegetables ready to be picked such as kale and large heads of cabbage. We had already enjoyed a long day at the Parliament Building and were too tired to visit the courtyard and manicured landscape behind the Parliament Building. We did catch glimpses of the courtyard during our general tour and library tour. Note - while the vegetable garden and the fountain flower beds are freely open to the public, visitors may need to pass through security screening to visit the courtyard gardens. When we booked our library and general tours, we had also registered to do an unguided tour of the Parliament gardens.
