If you're a tourist in Brussels the market is still a great stop because they have vendors serving up hot coffee, delicious croissants and baked goods, and even rotisserie chickens rotating before your eyes. You can also stock up on baguettes, cheese, meats, and fruit and make a nice park lunch later in the day. After the market, order a drink at Café Belga right across the place or grab a bench by the Ixelles Ponds and enjoy a lazy morning. The tram lines 81 and 71 also pass right through Flagey, so it's a nice jumping-off point to other parts of Brussels.

You can browse for hours - just bring cash. You must find the Moroccan stand near the theater building - look for the with two guys making mezze wraps and the long line. They start with handmade roti made minutes before serving and add fresh soft cheese and honey. If you have the palette of a child - you can stop there. The advanced level adds touches of dried figs, marinated artichokes, sundried tomatoes, roasted peppers and spicy olives. Yes, still with honey drizzled on. Add the Moroccan tea and for EUR 4,50 you have an incredible smattering of flavor where each bite is different.

I have two friends who live at Stockel and they rave about the Saturday markets held in the square…read more So after being in Belgium almost two years, I finally bite the bullet, forego my normal Saturday sleep-in and decide to get on the Metro on a rainy and wet March, to haul ass to to these markets with the excuse of getting a waffle and hot chocolate with my friends. I made it to the markets at around 11:40 (40mins later than planned!!!) and was instantly entranced. There were 3 cheese stores (one sold goat cheese with charcoal, amazing taste!), a Cornish pasty food truck, tons of fruit and veg and flower shops, a honey shop, an amazing charcuterie shop which sold beautiful smoked ham and salami, two different waffle food trucks (I tried both- the big waffle store has sugar cubes and is more traditional but I preferred the small waffle food truck, their dough was heartier, more non-traditional) and also a farm shop selling milk, eggs, butter, yogurt and cheese. I was in foodie heaven, my senses reveling in the sights, sounds and aromas of the market. I loved it and am gonna try and go here at least once a month starting from now.

The other day I had to go around for 20min until I decided to park where I shouldn't have, like so many people did that day, because if you live in another part of the city you can't just come by bike and go home with 20kgs of stuff on your back, it just isn't possible. Yesterday I had the pleasure to discover a 110€ fine from local police, they love coming every saturday and sunday to make money. I find it disgusting because every person that comes to this place tries in her way to buy "ethical" and then you can't park and get a fine. I will no longer come to this beaufitul market because of that...

I do not agree it's more expensive than Colruyt (in a previous review). Vegetables, fruits, nuts, olive oil: I've made the comparison when one day I've been first to Colruyt then there. It is cheapest than Colruyt! Nice selection of bread. You can also find eggs, olives, cheese, meet, pasta, flour. I love: the free coffee from the good machine with fair trade beans.

Good to find produce for cheap, although beware that if the deal is very good, the produce might be good quality at the time but may go bad quickly, so only buy cheap foods that can be eaten within a day or two. You really can find anything here from foods, plants to electronics and fake perfumes (not sure if I'd trust the 2 latter items but hey, that's just me!) Tip: at one of the stands that sells olives, they sell wraps with a mix of olives/everything else along with some cheese--get this at least once!! It's delicious along with some Moroccan sweet tea! Filling for lunch and only sets you back 5 eur...best to get there sooner in the morning/lunch time as the line quickly gets to be very long and you have a difficult time finding a place to sit and eat!
