Vogel Rok - Giant bird guarding the entrance.

When all the effects are on, this roller coaster in the dark is surprisingly fun and effective. The…read moretrouble is, sometimes the effects (or lights) are off. Since it's a roller coaster in the dark, that diminishes the experiences and it's just a roller coaster in the dark. It's loosely about birds. The queue has a vaguely Middle Eastern theme. It involves a very narrow staircase (the queue). You sit in pairs. Now that there are pandemic precautions, they don't fill the entire car. You can tell that Vekoma is the ride manufacturer because their name is emblazoned across the bar in front of you. Some of the scenes you see are a huge bird egg, stationary birds and lights but the coolest part is [spoiler] when you enter a huge skeletal mouth. In all, this coaster is short but surprisingly fun.

Wow, what a surprise this was. It's not possible to see everything that Efteling has to offer in…read moreone day so I was being very picky about what attractions to visit. When I heard that this was an indoor coaster with no inversions and a max speed of 40 mph that sounded like a hard "pass" to me. Because of the Efteling app I was able to see that the wait was really short when I happened to be near the ride so I figured I'd give it a go. What a mistake it would have been to miss this ride because I loved it! The exterior of the building is a giant bird statue (the biggest in Europe according to Wikipedia!). The coaster cars allow two people to sit next to each other. You don't get launched but rather go up a lift hill in the dark with green lasers breaking the darkness. There's a wonderful background song that starts pumping from inside the cars and you'll feel wind blowing on you before you start accelerating. It's a wonderful effect. There are a couple of "bird things" that light up during the run but otherwise you're in complete darkness. I don't know if the darkness was a factor in it but I felt like I was going so much faster than 40 mph. There's one turn in particular where you really feel the G-forces but it's not jerky at all. I never would have believed the max speed of this ride if you had told it to me if I went in not knowing anything. The ride ends with the coaster entering the mouth of a colorfully lit snake. As soon as I went out the exit I immediately went back into the entrance to ride again. If I wasn't on such a time crunch I would have rode it a third time. Vogel Rok rocks!

Another icon from my childhood. The dalton terror and cobra are names marked in my memory. This…read morepark is very convenient with public transportation. It is in Brussels. Walibi is part of a group and has other amusement parks, I have only been several times to this one. I feel it has less rides than the other ones and the crowd is not that nice, it has a lot to do with the fact the park is in Brussels. My parents didn't like us going here too much for safety reasons and I'm talking about now 30 years ago so I can't imagine how it must be now.

Visited the park on a sunday in the second week after opening. The park is said to run on 50%…read morecapacity due to corona, but I still thought it was pretty full with 30-80min waits on all main rides during the day. Ticket: You can buy the ticket online, dated or undated (valid until september) and both cost 41€. Its recommended to book a date at least 3 days in advance. You can also book a date with an undated ticket (no extra fee). The car park is extra 8€, you can pay the car park at the souvenir shop near the entrance, but watch out to pay it before 3pm (after 3pm its 10€). Arrival: The park is easy to drive to from Luxembourg, you can't miss it. I arrived pretty early 1h before opening. They line up the visitors in a queue and let them in to the entrance booths at 9:30. There is no security check or metal detector (also no covid test needed). At 9:45 they let us in the park. Everyone including me started jogging towards Kondaa, the new coaster. Main attractions: Kondaa (coaster): The Intamin mega coaster Kondaa already appeals visually. The theming and the station is pretty well done and look cool. The ride is incredible and thrones, in things of smoothness and intensity, far over the other rides. It has good g forces, many airtime moments and a cool layout. I managed to do 2 rides directly in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Note at the afternoon, after the coaster warmed up, it is a bit faster. Also ride the back row, you get much better sensations. Dispatch is really fast and is almost 30 seconds. The wait went during the day from 25-85min. Cobra (coaster): A standard Vekoma boomerang. The theming around looks pretty good. The ride is ok with good sensations but the cobra roll inversion slams your head into the bulky shoulder restraints and hurts your ears. The dispatch is painfully slow and I had to wait 45min. Psyké Underground (coaster): This is a short but intense ride all in the dark. It launches you forward into a loop, up a spike and then backwards. The loop pulls some good g forces. The ride is also very smooth and without a rattle. Operations are very fast but still waited 1h. Tiki Waka (coaster): A fun little, not too intense, family coaster (Mack bobsled). The theming is pretty good and nicely done. The wait was 50min, even though dispatch was pretty quick. Vampire (coaster): As all Vekoma SLC's, avoid them. This is a very rough and uncomfortable ride. Your head bounces left to right against the big shoulder restraints. Try to cover your ears. Even though its a terrible ride, I had to wait 1h. The theming is pretty minimalistic. Calamity mine (coaster): A typical mine train coaster, seems pretty old and worn down, a bit shaky, also not too intense but fun to ride. Theming is ok and the wait was around 25-30min. Pulsar (water ride): A very fun water ride (Mack power splash). It launches you backward and forward and has a big splash at the end. I sat in the front, only my head got drenched and the rest of my body stayed dry. I used single ride line and waited 10min, else I would have waited 55min Werewolf (coaster): An old Vekoma wooden coaster. Its shaky and rough but not so much that it gets you a headache. It also has some airtime moments and has a good duration. There is no theming sadly and had to wait 40min. Flashback (water ride): Very fun log flume with nice theming. The beginning with the light effect tunnel was cool. The double drop at the end is also amazing, even packs a bit of airtime. Sanitary rules and services: The personel was friendly and not rude. At the ride dispatches they sometimes rush it but thats alright. Before you enter a ride's train they spray your hands with disinfectant. Masks are mandatory everywhere in the park except if you sit down on a table or bench to eat/drink. Even though social distancing is not respected at all by the visitors, from time to time an operator walks through the queue line to ensure people take space to one another. Indoor attractions, except Psyké, were closed. They have lockers too, but that service is a bit outdated. You go to the desk where you give your stuff the desk lady and she puts it into a locker, you have to write down your contacts in case of issues and she gives you a ticket with number which you have to show later for pick up. It costs 3€ a day. Food: The prices are alright for themepark food. You only have a limited selection of fast food (burgers, fries, tacos, ice creams etc) and drinks (soft drinks and beer). I advice to get a belgian Leffe beer, its delicious. They also have slushy drink bottles for 5€ which can be refilled for 3€. To conclude the park has some terrible rides, like Vampire and Cobra. Calamity mine and Werewolf are pretty average. But Kondaa, Tiki Waka, Psyké, Flashback and Pulsar are the rides to go to and are enjoyable. I can't rate the other rides since I didn't manage to do them that day. Some parts of the park look old and worn down while others parts are well themed and modern.
