The meats were all from the Toledo area. So you could experience Toledo local food but still appeal to a Californian palette. There was only one server and he was not the most receptive or energetic server, but that's ok... not many restaurants are open on a Spanish Sunday. Lastly this place has clean bathrooms and it's well air-conditioned.

We did not eat here because we stupidly grabbed food at a terrible place nearby, but I wish he had saved room to try stuff. This place is like a vertical food court. There's a wine area, a coffee area, a burger counter, a tapas section, an Asian fusion section and more. You can take your food anywhere in the building. There are comfy couches and chairs all over. On the top floor, there's a patio where people are smoking. (When we visited, they had some plastic sheeting stuff blocking the open air. Not much of a view to be had anyway.) We grabbed a couple glasses of wine and made ourselves comfortable on the couch. They sell tempranillo here - it's a wine you rarely find, but it's awesome. As is the custom in most of Europe, the wine was really cheap. Mercado de San Agustin is a modern marvel in a very old town. Walk inside, grab a bite, drink some wine and feel like you just fast-forwarded several centuries. Bonus: Free wi-fi without a password.

Despite its name -- which translates to "The Unloved Woman", a poetic reference to an old Spanish play -- everything about this place is the opposite of unloved. It's full of warmth, flavor, and personality. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is vibrant and inviting. The decor is colorful, eclectic, and full of charm -- rustic textures, unique art on the walls, soft lighting -- it feels like a cozy local gem with a distinct soul. You can tell this isn't just another restaurant; it's a place with a story. The staff are wonderful -- incredibly friendly, patient, and welcoming, especially to someone like me who isn't a native Spanish speaker. Their kindness really elevates the whole experience and makes you feel right at home. One of my favorite touches: every table is welcomed with chips and a complimentary small starter bite -- a different one each visit! It's such a lovely surprise, and both times, the bites were full of flavor and beautifully presented. It's those small details that make a big impression. As for the food -- wow. The Salmon Bread was outstanding. An open-faced toast layered with beautifully seasoned salmon, bold flavors, and just the right amount of herbs and seasoning. It's savory, fresh, and full of depth. Visually, it's just as impressive -- vibrant, colorful, and plated with care. Manchego Crumbs (Migas de Manchego) -- a traditional local dish, and it's absolutely delicious here. The texture is crumbly yet soft, infused with the rich, nutty essence of Manchego cheese. It's rustic comfort food done right -- flavorful, earthy, and authentic. Satay Chicken was another highlight. Tender, juicy skewers with a flavorful, aromatic satay sauce. It's creamy, nutty, and perfectly spiced, making each bite satisfying and fresh. The presentation was clean and appetizing -- simple yet elegant. And of course, I've completely fallen in love with sangria since being in Spain, and the one here might just be my favorite so far. It's refreshing, fruity, and perfectly balanced -- I honestly don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
