Wolfhagen is a tiny town in a remote part of Germany. However, this restaurants draws visitors as far afield as the nearest big city of Kassel.
La Lanterna is a family-run Italian restaurant popular for its pizzas. The extensive choice of toppings is available in small and large most people don't even manage the small one
Everything is XL here: the restaurant itself extends across two large rooms, plus a conservatory for smokers; the choice of dishes on the menu; the portions except the prices which are extremely modest. Probably the best value for money in the entire area. Unfortunately, the complimentary schnaps after each meal was only an introductory bonus when the restaurant first openened or they were plainly too busy on our last visit.
Living in London, I am spoilt for choice and would probably not choose La Lanterna over any average pizza chain here. By comparison the pizzas are overloaded too much cheese, and almost every one includes meat (there are a few vegetarian choices avoid the aubergine one as this is extremely greasy!).
A good alternative is the grilled sole if you like fish. This is quite heavily seasoned and more greasy than you would expect from a grilled fish but very tasty!
To sum up: probably not worth a special trip, but definitely worth a try if you happen to be in the area. read more
