We had a small group of 12 people which met to stay at the hotel and we had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner! The new executive chef is from London and is very talented! Dinner was 5/5 stars! The pastry chef made a swiss log roll for after dinner and let me just say is was excellent 5/5 stars! The hotel has some beautiful views and a perfect place to just sit by the roaring fire in the main lobby to enjoy the views or stop in for a drink at the bar. If you want a special treat head down stairs to the wine tasting room and ask the attendant to suggest a glass to try out for your dinner, after dinner or a romantic stay in your room. You can sit in the comfortable wine tasting room and enjoy a glass by the fire place there if you wish have a bottle sent up to the dining room to enjoy with dinner or even your room to enjoy your views! The are multiple amenities to enjoy here even if the weather is not the best to be outside. I can highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway to relax, ski or both! My husband needed some help with the menu and Corinne swooped in to read him _the entire thing_. We had local red wine (double thumbs up), the steak, and...what I thought was scallops but what turned out to be veal scallopini. Corinne has mixed up a description and I had failed to read closely enough--but nonetheless, the veal was great, even after two weeks of German and Austrian schnitzel on our road trip. :D We drank wine as more and more locals filtered in and were never rushed. We got to see a couple of dogs come in and say hello and it was a delight. The good: delightful food, ambiance, and dogs. The bad: you're near a ski resort and are in Switzerland, so take a deep breath and hand over your Swiss Francs and dive into your wine. The bonus: dog-friendly and festive! You first walk through a short tunnel, get into a holding room where you watch a short movie. Next you board a "train" - you are basically put into "capsules/wagons" that hold approx. 10 people each. There are some outdoor sittings at the end of said "capsules". It's a fairly long drive down the tunnel. After the ride, you get a walking tour, which includes stairs and uneven surfaces. You then board the train again to the exit. The tour is very informative and the guide was excellent. I felt that the info was a little too technical for my kids (8 & 11) but they did enjoy the train and seeing how this salt mine evolved.
