We went to La Carmelita to see a band and we were happily surprised by the club! I love the place…read moreitself - the old brick walls covered in paintings from local artists, the high ceilings, the big windows on one end of the space. They make a mean caipirinha and their pizzas are homemade, brick oven-fired plates of deliciousness! The owner was super friendly, too and I liked the crowd there--very into the music which was jazz fusion that night (Jorge Amorim's band). Lapa is a cool neighborhood - edgy, fun, steeped in history, and La Carmelita, close to the arches, is a great spot to spend an evening.
