This place was giving me a sweet vibe from the start. I ordered a "Omelet del dia" which translates to omelet of the day. This omelet had salsa on the inside. It also had seeds from a well known tree that grows locally and is protected in the area which means they are illegal to cut down. That was the most special part of my dish. The chef heard me asking my cousin about the tree seeds and came over to tell me more about it and their diverse dishes. The botanical name of the tree is Enterolobium cyclocarpum. Usually, when their seeds fall in the spring, they waste away. Well, this restaurant found a way to use them in their dishes instead of letting them waste away! They've got this awesome concept. They try to use plant material that most people don't eat or would otherwise go to waste. They experiment with it and incorporate it into their dishes. I love what these guys do, and I thought it was awesome that the chef took his time to come over and explain their dishes and give me a better idea of what the restaurant was about. Amazing food with a side of amazing service. I'd recommend this place to anyone. *BYOK: Bring your own ketchup.
