This is a typical Pizza Hut, albeit slightly smaller than most…read more There's not much to say on the food, as they are much of a muchness, I've never had a Pizza Hut meal that tastes differently from branch to branch. They offer both takeaway and restaurant facilities, though I'd imagine due to its location, most customers sit in. The décor/floor plan doesn't seem to have really changed in years, but its normally clean and tidy enough and there's plenty of space to sit and have your meal. The last time we went in, was before going to see a film at the nearby cinema and the restaurant was empty other than another couple. We came armed with a printed voucher, entitling us to a decent sized percentage off our meal. I'm not sure if this effected the level of service we were to be given or if this has gone downhill of late, but we found ourselves waiting a long time for the opportunity to order more drinks rather than being offered. In the past the staff have always been really attentive, so this was a bit of a surprise.

We have been here a few times over the years and have always been impressed with the food. Here, in Texas, we're used to a certain type of 'Texas-down-home-cookin' and Cactus Jack's gets as close to it as I'd expect in the UK. The ribs and chicken dishes are very good (better than some of the places here in Houston). The service is good, and that's saying a lot from us overly demanding Americans. The portion sizes are generous by UK standards. The part I love the best is the interior design. The restaurant isn't just Southwest themed, it's like walking into an old saloon. There is a old school jail cell in the back you can have dinner in. There's tons of gnarly wood everywhere. One time when we were in there, there was a whole troop of older people dressed in Western wear. It was awesome. I did have to correct them once because they had the Texas flag hanging upside down, but I can forgive them on it (people in the USA in other states would get it wrong too). They did fix it and I was satisfied. The only totally weird thing is the waffle dessert. In the USA, waffles are not dessert items, we eat them for breakfast. They do not taste sugary or have little lumps of sugar inside of them. We don't top them with ice cream and chocolate sauce. But honestly, the waffle dessert at Cactus Jack's is so good, maybe we should! If you live in the Donny area and haven't been... Go! Try it out! This is a recommendation from a real Texan who has a cactus somewhere in the vicinity (Houston is actually kinda like a jungle).

Born and raised in Sheffield but moved to London before I went to pubs, I thought I'd give this place a try while I had an afternoon to kill. Big mistake. The place gives off the vibe of being a friend-of-a-friends flat, where you go because your friends have gone but you never really feel welcome. The music is bass-heavy and seemed to be a whole Beyoncé album. After buying a coke, "5 pound for card" was grunted at me by the second member of staff I tried to buy it from. The first was a sour-faced woman who walked off after making eye contact, then announced "she was here first" to a woman approaching the bar. Apparently the student card scheme is a good deal, and I haven't tried the food but I will not be back here.

We had arranged to go here for Sunday lunch with a friend after what ended up being a heavy…read moreSaturday night out and needless to say I was looking forward to it too much if anything the only thing what speared me on was knowing I could have an "hair of dog" to try and make me feel human again!! This always used to be one if those places you would visit only for special occasions so going for Sunday lunch seemed a little strange for me but then again that might have been the hangover talking! However I shouldn't have been so worried they have recently decorated and it looks really warm and welcoming inside while maintaining that special occasion feel. It was really busy upon our arrival but we had an ace up our sleeve as the friend we was meeting use to work here so got seated pretty sharpish (cheeky I know but get I was hungover remember!) we ordered some drinks and once my first San Miguel slid down I started returning to the land of the living. We were handed the menus and they had a set menu for Sunday lunch 3 courses for 15.95 which is pretty good value in my book taking into account what was available they had a variety of starters a king prawn dish classic, prawn cocktail, pâté and soup of the day amongst others I opted for the pâté which I usually steer clear for obvious reasons, but as it was a higher class of restaurant felt pretty confident it would be quality ingredients! The pâté came and I was expecting a small ramekin on pâté with I couple of slices of Melba toast but what came was like a slab and I mean slab of chocolate cake it was huge and only two small pieces of toast which was never going to accommodate such a "slab" of pâté. As one of us was having the soup at least we had some extra bread on the table which I could take advantage of. In the end the pâté defeated me just so much of it was too rich to finish. For the main you could have a traditional roast of the usual beef, pork or half a chicken but I opted the a slightly different braised steak which came with a lovely rich red wine jus and oven roasted shallots. All the dishes came with sides of vegetables roast and mash potatoes and big fluffy Yorkshire puddings which you could ask for more of at no extra cost. It came round to dessert and by this time I had gone from land of the dead to land of the living after my first pint and was now on my way to land of the fairies after having another couple of San Miguels on top of the previous nights alcohol. Dessert again had plenty of choice and at the start of the meal liked the look of the the cheeseboard as a sucker for any form of cheese but as I'd eaten so much and as San Miguel doesn't really compliment cheese opted for the lighter and easier on the palate mandarin cheesecake which again defeated me. All in all it was a pleasant experience and a gentle pick me up to get through a hungover Sunday instead of contemplating dying on the sofa at home. The only thing that spoilt it slightly for me and why it doesn't get 4 stars is it was full of gypsies don't get me wrong I don't mind what kind of people are dining at the same place as me and I'm no snob but all the crazy kids and loud parents just took the edge off it for me and after speaking to our friend that worked there it seems gypsies do go there a lot on a Sunday but every other day it's just business as usual.

After having some pretty dreadful experiences eating out in Sheffield city centre with one-star "avoid at all costs" experiences with Nando's and Gourmet Burger Kitchen to name just two - this place is probably one of the better places in terms of food quality in Sheffield based on multiple recent visits to the South Yorkshire city. Inside, it is pretty large and modern - it does feel like pretty much a chain Italian which it is, I like the bold decor with Italian proverbs which really helps to bring out the wall. They also have an open kitchen which I do like, I was able to watch my "sever" cook my food - you could tell the passion for cooking: watching him taste it for seasoning etc (and using his gold iPhone...) The service was pretty poor but that wasn't down to the staff not being friendly - it was down to them being really understaffed meaning from ordering to getting food and paying it took much longer to do anything - my server seemed really friendly considering he was rushed, he was serving tables and then in the kitchen, and having to answer phone calls - for me it's unacceptable that there was only one chef + one server who was working in a kitchen for the backlog, with a good 5-6 tables full. I did notice a few staff members who were on a good break for 30 minutes+ who didn't offer to help customers or do anything as it got busy - I appreciate if they're on their break but why was there more staff on break than working. The whole lack of staff really did make me think about walking out on multiple occasions with my food taking longer to arrive, as well as a delay in getting some water as the only waiter was serving other tables. I wasn't offered a lemonade sample which I always receive at an Ask branch, also down to it being understaffed (not really busy, but busy for the low staffing levels.) When my food did arrive, it tasted quite good, I ordered the pea and prosciutto risotto which came to £13.50 - a little pricey but ASK do have various offers with Meerkat Meals (buy any insurance package even one-day travel insurance in the UK for £1.01 and get a years free) or Tastecard which gives you two-for-one, they also offer a student discount which varies from 25 to 40% so there's never a need to pay full price. The risotto was much better than I had at a previous branch, it was seasoned perfectly and it didn't need any added pepper/seasoning, with a little fresh parmesan cheese sprinkled on top it was much better - it wouldn't have been my first choice of flavour combination for a risotto but they still managed to bring it out very well, the prosciutto was mostly crispy with a smoky taste but it was slightly chewy at times. Good quality food at competitive prices considering a large number of offers using third party memberships which are as low as £1 or the restaurant's own website/student discount, yet let down by staffing levels and speed of service - solid three-star rating.
