This was our first time eating at a Firehouse Subs. The guy behind the register was very helpful…read more He went over the menu with us and recommended certain subs according to what I liked. This is NOT like Subway. I was pleasantly surprised at the menu options. The store was neat and clean as were the restrooms. The one and only thing that makes me not give 5 stars is that every table needed wiping down. We had to clean the table ourselves and we were the only customers there. They definitely weren't busy. All in all we enjoyed it. If I'm ever back down that way I will eat there again.

Unfortunately, you cannot make a sandwich from scratch so you need to select one to start an order, but this means you need to customize it. Delicious! The peach cobbler is to die for and the banana pudding was typical southern goodness. Portions are big. I ate as much of my shrimp and grits as I could. This is a wonderful addition to the downtown Gulfport community…read more I am not sure how long this has been here. I had some errands to do and happened to upon this great restaurant. I was hungry and few people I was talking to mention to go here. I got curious about it and especially they were describing how great experience they had. They also mentioned they recently changed ownership and in middle of renovation. Location is downtown Gulfport near Island View Casino. From what I noticed, they offer a large parking lot in the front and easy access off the main road. From what I see they offer drive thu? We just happen to luck out. A lot of people from the lunch rush were leaving. Parking lot was clearing up. As we walked in, many people were still waiting on to go orders. It's a good sign when you see that. So you know you are in the right place. Atmosphere is very casual and table seating ( table seating and hard wood chairs) and staff are very friendly and willing to help since we mentioned it was our first time there. They recommend a few things. We ended up with the seafood platter. Order of egg rolls and fried okra. Just we were about to pay. I looked down and noticed they offered fried chicken cracklings. I will be honest, I have never seen that offer before locally. So we had to try it. Added an order of that and some fries. Wash it down with some sweet tea. Our food came out great and well seasoned. Definitely know it is fresh when still steaming fresh from the fryer. Overall, good food and great service! Stop by if you are in the area.
