We moved to the area a few months ago, and have been looking for a good local spot. Tonight, we found it - Pizza Da Valter makes enormous, fresh wood fired pizzas. Sourdough style pizza bases, thin and stretched Romana style. The Diavola isn't too hot, the house special is delicious. Pasta is similarly fresh and generously portioned, while still being affordable. The front seating area looks quite traditional, but the back room is more modern. The kitchen is staffed with genuine Italians, and Ben the host is exactly the right mix of conversational and discreet.
