All in all - as there is actually not much to say - all the Döner I ate there were delicious and a big portion. The dish online the plate was not Asus good, but I have to admit, I tried it from someone else's plate and it was already cold. I guess, freshly served I would have appreciated it better. Terrific location, very relaxing, not too much vehicle traffic but tons of cyclists (it is Bonn, after all). There are a few parking spots on the side of the building but there's on-street parking just past the place on the right by a church. Staff was very nice, spoke/understood English well enough that I got what I wanted and they got the right amount of money.

The broken English combined with my knowledge of more well known Italian dishes was god enough for me to order. I ended up ordering a quattro pizza. It was alright other than the odd fact that one quadrant was tuna fish. And obviously that is going to just taste like tuna fish. I honestly do not think this was phenomenal pizza even though I was starving. The crust was thin, and a little bit soggy towards the center. Remember to bring cash. This place only accepts cash and the closest ATM is a 10-15 minute walk at barbaro platz.

To my defense, they should have called it "Pizza Buttergemüse" to label its unusual veggie mix correctly and to spear me from this culinary experience. Instead it had been described as "seasonal vegetables" on the menu. Never before did I have Carrots, cauliflower, bland olives and zucchini (surprisingly no peas) on a pizza. Did taste neutral at best and was soggy towards the center. How the unusually cheap prices come along got apparent already with the antipasti, which were a mix of seemingly low quality ingredients directly from the can. if you find enjoyment in cheap prices alone I can recommend. The staff is friendly. But bring cash!

Even though the place is always tight, hot and claustrophobic inside, it has very nice "Biergarten-like" seats outside. You can also watch the soccer games on a large flat screen TV inside, though you should expect to feel like packed-sardines on such occasions, especially at weekends. :) In terms of food, it is THE BEST place to have falafel, be it a dürüm or sandwich. I think its döner, which I believe is not 100% Kalbfleisch but mixture of turkey and calf, is not the best in town but still edible with the tasty sauces Botan offers. Same applies to lahmacuns; they taste good but there is always little amount of meat on top and the dough is never crispy but edible with condiments and sauces. They also serve pizzas, böreks and pommes but I have never tried any of those. Even though the number of condiments is limited and the quality of them is questionable from the sloppy cuts, Botan serves THE BEST home-made hot sauce in town, along with home-made (and very thick and garlicky) tzatziki and thick, sweet cocktail sauce. I even witnessed one old German couple coming to Botan just to ask for one bowl of that hot sauce, pro-bono. :) Also, the owner and the staff are very friendly guys who always insist you to have a cup of tea with them if they are not busy of course. :) Overall, I strongly recommend Botan for those (especially students) who aim to get full with tasty (and often or inevitably garlicky) food for a very reasonable price. I believe sitting outside or getting your food to-go will double the pleasure you get out of your food. :)
