While a co-op style school is a BIG commitment, it truly has improved my parenting skills and I have loved being able to observe my kids in the classroom. We briefly switched to a traditional preschool for about 6 months and while the experience was not negative, I definitely did not like how I wasn't really sure what exactly was going on in the classroom on a daily basis. And while a co-op is overwhelming at first, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and willing to address any questions or concerns I've had over the years. Teacher DeeDee is an amazing educator and really knows her stuff! We love this school!

Decades later, my own son attended preschool and kindergarten here (2023-2025), and seeing him experience the same warmth and joy meant so much to me. This school is genuinely one of a kind. The farm setting creates such a peaceful, nurturing environment that you just don't find at traditional schools. Children get to learn while surrounded by nature, animals, and open space, which makes learning feel natural and exciting. One thing that really stands out is the classroom environment. Many preschool and kindergarten classrooms can feel chaotic, with bins of random toys everywhere, but that's not the case here. The classroom is bright, calm, and inviting, filled with carefully curated and beautifully organized Montessori materials that encourage focus, independence, and purposeful learning. The Montessori approach really works. By the time my son graduated kindergarten, he was already reading confidently -- but even more importantly, he developed independence, curiosity, and a real love of learning. The teachers and staff create a caring, respectful community where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow at their own pace. It's rare to find a school that stays in your heart for decades, but this one truly does. I feel incredibly grateful that both my son and I were able to be part of such a special place.

The teacher to student ratio is much lower than public schools so students receive much more individual focus, plus the lessons are curated to each individuals needs. This really set our older daughter to be advanced when she moved on to public school. Our younger one is a bit more of a handful but is also excelling in this environment and learning program. It's a huge bonus having the farm aspect where they learn to garden, feed animals, and get a more balanced indoor/outdoor learning experience. This week, our youngest two are leaving for elementary school, and it's truly the end of an era for us. From day one, every teacher and staff member has treated our children like family. They created a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where our kids were not only incredibly loved, but also so well prepared for kindergarten. The growth we've seen in all three of our children--academically, socially, emotionally, and in their confidence--is a true reflection of the passion and dedication this team brings every single day. A very special thank you to the amazing teachers who have played such a huge role in our children's lives: Miss Sylvia, Miss Sasha, Miss Jenny, Miss Jasmine, Miss Mackenzie, Miss Tammy, and all of the other wonderful teachers who have loved, encouraged, and believed in our babies throughout the years. Your patience, kindness, and genuine care have meant more to our family than you'll ever know. And an extra special thank you to the incredible Miss Karla. Your leadership has created such a special place for families. It's clear how much your staff loves what they do, and that starts with the environment you've built. We were so sad to pull her out because we could already see how happy she was there and how much she was thriving. Sunshine House was actually her very first experience being in a school setting, and I'm so thankful that it was such a positive one. All of the teachers were absolutely amazing and showed her so much love and care. She was always so happy and excited to go to school, and as a parent, that meant everything to me. I truly believe that because they made her first experience with school so positive, it helped create the love for school that she still has today. A few months later, we were lucky enough to move back, and she has now started kindergarten. Since starting, I've received nothing but compliments from her teacher about how ready and prepared she is! What makes me even happier is seeing how many of the skills Sunshine House helped nurture in her are still with her today. From the way she participates during circle time, the way she interacts with other children, and even the way she advocates for herself, these are all things Sunshine House helped teach and encourage in her. Her kindergarten teacher has been so impressed, and it makes me so happy knowing that so much of what she learned during those few months has stayed with her. I'm just so thankful my daughter had the opportunity to experience Sunshine House. Even though she was only there for a short time, they made such a lasting impact on her. They gave her such a wonderful first experience with school, helped build her confidence, and gave her skills that she still carries with her today. We will always be so grateful for Sunshine House and all of the amazing teachers who loved and cared for her while she was there!

They were especially helpful during big milestones like potty training, which made a huge difference for us. Both of my kids absolutely adore their teachers, which says everything. I also love that they offer onsite electives you can sign up for--it's such a convenient and fun addition to their already strong program. Another thing that stands out is how they rotate rooms and toys to keep things fresh and engaging for the kids. Overall, this school has exceeded our expectations in every way. My son enjoyed all of his teachers at this school. He had Miss B, Miss Melissa and Miss Delmy. After months of searching for Montessori school in the Concord area. We came to interview at Montessori School of Concord. I remember waiting inside of the classroom for the interview with Miss Delmy, a young girl went up to me and asked me if I would like a bottle of water. I was blown away by the interaction from the girl. I knew right there that I wanted my son to attend this school. When my son started at Montessori School of Concord, his first teach was Miss B. She was a great teacher for the toddler class. My son took a while to adjust. He was shy and always cried before going to school. But after 3 months, he finally got over his fear. During his first year he got promoted to Miss Melissa's class. He flourished in reading and writing. The patience Miss Melissa has for her students is amazing. I would not have any other person help guide my 3 year old son at the time. Once my son got promoted Miss Delmy's class, I really saw him add and subtract in math. As a 4 year old, he would read books and enjoy reading on their own. I cannot express how much Miss Delmy and her staff really cared for each student. Miss Delmy can command the classroom and have fun with them too. Unfortunately I had to pull my son out of Montessori School of Concord because we moved to Alameda. I would of loved to keep him there but the commute was too long. It was hard to see him leave behind the BEST group of educators that truly embraced the Montessori way! I wish we could of still lived closer so my son could of graduated from the school and learned from the best. I hope you reading this will find this helpful in choosing the Montessori School of Concord.
