What can I say about Juan's Pixel Punch boxing program? Nothing but great things! My 16 year old son started boxing with him at American Gym last year and not only did it get him in great shape but it built an even stronger self esteem and an excitement to exercise. Juan's programs range from young kids group programs to one on one lessons. Can't say enough good things about Juan's skills and patience with his students. He's an amazing motivator and friend to his boxing students. Highly recommend him, and the location can't be beat.

With only a few sessions together so far, the transformation is real (see photos). Juan has an incredible knowledge for the sweet science and it's techniques, which will get you moving muscles only the Lundgren looks like he has.

Do they do private lessons here? How do i book (if possible)

Yes, I only book private lessons for my son and myself. I don't take the group classes. Call the gym and ask for Juan.

Any of them can vouch for me. In my entire career, I have never had a single billing dispute with a client. I know this industry from the inside, which is exactly why my experience at The Box has been so disappointing. I came to The Box in early 2024 on a strong recommendation from a close friend, and at first I loved it. My coach, Coach Yuka, is excellent, and I valued the many sparring partners I got to share the ring with. From day one, though, I noticed the owner frequently no-shows on clients and talks far more than he actually trains. As a trainer myself, I clocked it immediately, but I figured it wasn't my problem and kept it to myself. After everything that followed, I think it's worth letting people know he is not a serious coach. My issue is not with the training staff, who are great. It's with the owner and how the business is run. Every single person I sparred with at The Box was a good sport. The owner was the exception. When I got in the ring with him, rather than boxing technically he repeatedly lunged, and at one point threw his shoulder into my face after breaking up a clinch he had started. I hurt my back so badly I couldn't walk the next day. He let his ego surpass his professionalism, and what should have stayed a respectful exchange in the ring turned into something he then carried into how he treated me as a paying client. After that, I canceled my membership, and Mario confirmed the cancellation. A year later, reviewing my finances, I discovered he had been charging me the entire time. He agreed to refund me but only returned half of what I was owed. I let it go because I planned to come back and keep training. When I returned, I came with my family. Previously I paid about $60 a month for myself and my kids, so I expected something reasonable. When I asked about my missing refund, he said it had gone toward "enrollment fees." As a professional, I can tell you it is not standard to charge enrollment fees to someone who only trains privately once a week rather than using the classes and facilities. Those clients are typically given a discounted rate. We finally agreed, in writing, on $180 a month with no enrollment fee, to be charged on the 20th. Without any notice, I was charged $297. I tried to confirm the amount beforehand and the receptionist ran the card anyway. When I put the discrepancy in writing, that we'd agreed to $180 and I was charged $297, he never actually addressed it. Instead of fixing the charge, he replied with a long breakdown of "the actual numbers" and how much value I was supposedly getting. I didn't ask for a sales pitch. I asked why I was charged a different amount than we agreed on. That question never got answered. Instead, he cornered me and claimed I now owed $780 for a month we'd used, even though he had already agreed to credit me that month. So rather than refunding the payment I'd just made, he moved the goalposts entirely. Billing here is a nightmare. When it's time to collect, they're relentless. When it's time to honor an agreement or process a cancellation, they vanish. I've worked in this field for over 15 years and have never seen a client treated this way. I can't recommend doing business with this owner.

The weights portion also has projections of the weight lift reps or the cardio moves in rotation. Very organized. The workout includes glove rentals, locker rooms, clean bathrooms, & towels. I was going to a different studio and wasn't expecting to want to become a member here, but the intro sold me! Courtney and Mitch gave a thorough tour, and her class was so much fun! What really drew me in was the floor area - the class alternates between the bags and strength training so I felt like I was getting a well designed, comprehensive workout. The studio is brand new and super clean, I feel fortunate to be a founding member! In addition to Courtney and Mitch, Brian and Manny are awesome! Manny has been teaching members only clinics (free!) the past two Sundays and I've really enjoyed being challenged and learning from a professional in a small group setting! I also met Julia and Rumble's resident pup, Theo today. Everyone has been so kind, helpful and are truly starting to make it feel like a community. Rumble is located on the Peninsula on Newport Blvd near the pier. There is both street parking (which you have to pay for) and garage parking (which Rumble validates). They sell everything you need - gloves, wraps, workout attire and more. They offer complimentary towels, filtered water and lockers. You can also rent gloves for $3 a session. Booking classes is simple on the app, and you have the opportunity to choose your bag and bench. The studio is still new so classes aren't too full yet, but I feel like it's going to be picking up soon. They still have a ton of free intros going on and a bunch of specials for newcomers. Check it out! You won't regret it :)

We took him up on the offer. The experience was great! My boy worked through a fighter's circuit: skipping rope, guided shadowboxing, heavy bag work, pads with Bryce, and partner drills followed by sparring. All the coaches and members are super welcoming. Very chill, family vibe, conducive to learning. No ego. Good times. Legit, highly technical, bad a$$ Muay Thai. My son also has history with one of the other Rising Sons coaches, Coach Yannick (a Peruvian Muay Thai champion), from a previous gym where he trained for a little bit (pre-Covid), so it was rad to re-connect. They have an active squad of killers who are wrecking shop on the local & National scenes. They're also investing in the future by growing a crop of lil' savages who my boy was able to get solid sparring rounds with. Both Bryce and Yannick are really patient, encouraging and positive with the kids. You can tell they understand how to bring them up slowly & build the toughness organically. We've been back a few times on Saturdays, and if we lived closer, would totally have my kid join forces with the Rising Sons crew. Unfortunately we're all the way out in the 626 and it would be too tough to make that trek during the week. That said, if you're anywhere near the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa/Irvine area and you or your kids need/want to get in shape, train to fight, and meet cool people with folks who really know their stuff, Rising Sons Thai Boxing is the place to be. Adults or kids, I highly recommend it!
