Best coach ever. Juan makes you feel super comfortable and confident coming into the gym. I don't know about you, but I was forced to go to the gym as a kid and I hated it. But later on in life, I really had to focus on getting healthier. I think it's really tough to find a gym and a personal trainer that deconstructs and reconstructs your view of working out and living a healthy life. Juan is an excellent and patient boxing coach. He constantly corrects your form, and gives you pointers as you hit the mitts. My friend recommended the kids boxing at American gym and said the instructor was really good and patient with the kids. My #1 concern was the dynamic between the coach and his students and if he was kind while stern, and a leader. I've seen places where they just don't know how to coach and work with kids and it's sad and frustrating. She wasn't wrong. Juan is attentive and makes sure the kids are behaving, treating each other with respect, learning the basic skills they need to, while having fun all at the same time. Ever since the boys started boxing a month ago, they are more focused in school as well and more patient with one another. Was instantly hooked after my first 1-on-1 session with Juan. He is a great instructor and pushes you when you feel like you can't hold your arms up any longer to punch. I love the combos and routines he makes up on the spot, the sessions fly by and you leave drenched in sweat without feeling like it was a workout at all.
