We decided to take an excursion north of the emerald coast and found this charming little lake. It is first come first serve based on the parking situation. We were fortunate to arrive there around noon and allowed in for $4 per car to go into the parking lot and then walked about 200 feet to a small beach with a few benches, a couple of tables on the beach (state park style) and also a covered picnic area. The small beach had a walkway to another area which was the jump in/dive in area of the spring fed lake. The water was cool, but definitely swimmable as there were warm currents mixed with the cold currents from the spring. Reportedly, the water is too cool for alligators which are found more at the mouth of the river feeding this area. We spent around an hour just floating around in the area. Didn't feel cold while in the water (outside temp 84 degrees). People had floaties, tubes, and even paddle boards. There were a few scuba divers as well! Bring your snorkels and other floatation equipment if you want to spend time just floating and looking a the bottom for some interesting scenery under water.

When we went, we did the boat tour as well, it was pretty cheap for an hour tour and we got to experience the beautiful nature and wildlife. Afterwards, we went swimming in the little lake area, which was extremely refreshing!

During the weekends come early if your going to launch your boat because although there is parking it does get full of trucks with trailers. Beautiful scenery. The pier doesn't have benches to sit on. Otherwise, you can sit on the picnic tables but it's not by the water. Bring your portable chairs if you want to sit on the pier and hang out. Bring lots of water to combat the heat and humidity.

They feed you as well- but if you want any particular snacks I'd bring those yourself. On the drive back to the meet point they do stop at their shop where there are some snacks and ice cream as well as shirt if you want to purchase anything. They also provide you with photos that they took throughout the day including any GoPro footage you may have shot using the water scooter. Halfway through, we arrived at a natural cold spring that was as clear as glass, we swung off the rope swing into the water over and over and then paddled back to the dock. WOW Paddleboards provided a hearty, Boar's head-brand premade sandwich, chips and water--definitely not the simple meat & bread I was expecting. It was really good and I wished I could have another LOL. Gabriel took lots of pictures of us and the one other family that went with us, and he posted them on facebook for us to save to our phones/computers at no additional charge. We followed him in our truck to the site, an approximately 45 minute drive. We left the WOW office at 9:30 AM and finished up around 2:15 PM, getting back to PCB a little after 3. You don't need any experience paddleboarding prior to this tour. As a totally non-athletic person, I'm surprised that only my biceps were sore the next day. For $80 and 4-5 hours, this experience with my husband and son was worth that and more.

We just returned from a 2-hour / 4-mile canoe ride courtesy of Snaggy Bend (6 adults and 4 kids on three canoes). It was FABULOUS!! As much as we've loved the beach (and still do) this canoe journey was a definite highlight. We understand they have even longer river journeys up to a 30-mile trek. These are very friendly and competent folks!
