Stopped here to ask about lunch & to find a loo in Marble yesterday, a town of 133 people,…read moreaccording to the 2020 U.S. Census, and a town my dad loved & showed me in 2008, and met beautiful people, Lynn and Vickie, who listened to my love for my dad, gave me hugs, and gave me a map to find the happy public restrooms in this friendly artist & historic marble quarry mountain town, beloved my dad & now me. After enlightening & encouraging chit chats with both Lynn & Vickie inside, Vickie gave me a tour outside of her husband, Rex Branson's, and her art work, which I found beautiful & fascinating. I asked if I could take pictures, and got their business card, then found them online later. Inquired if/how they deliver, and they do & can! And they can guide me as to all the equipment I'd need on the other end to receive such a huge, heavy piece of beautiful white marble art work, hopefully / potentially one day for my dad's, now my, house in Denver, in our backyard, as a heartfelt tribute to my dad & our journey here. Per Wikipedia, the white marble from this historic quarry has been used in Washington, D.C., for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (important to me, given my dad was a Vietnam Veteran, and my grandfather a WWII Veteran) and the Washington Monument. It's also been used in equally important cities to my dad & me: San Francisco and New York City. Absolutely loved meeting & chatting with Lynn & Vickie yesterday, as it was exactly what I needed, and the purpose for this mountain trip! To remind me of my roots, and to help me fall back in love with my home state of Colorado. I had so many questions for Vickie about how they carve marble into round, smooth shapes, and she invited me back to watch them make art in July. I can't wait to return next summer!

We took the afternoon off grabbed a picnic lunch from Clark's market in Snowmass and drove towards Aspen. Ashcroft is about 10 miles south but it takes a little longer because it's a windy road. The concierge at our hotel said there wasn't much up there, but we were so impressed with the buildings that have remained and been restored. It was so tranquil and quiet. There's a big parking lot and nicely marked trails and signs it makes a perfect afternoon outing for a family. Here's a link to the video we made. The grounds are beautiful with the Rockies as the back drop. There were tiny springs that meander and gurgle their way through out the campus. I didn't say this, but I thought this: no where did it say the maximum time in the library was 30 minutes. Politely, I asked if we should stay until others came in and the capacity was exceeded. The lady librarian asked in a challenging and condescending tone (and I think a look of disgust), "Why would you want to do that?" I responded that we wanted to read some more books. She said, "No, this is no longer a place to hang around." What? I've never been pushed out of a library when there were no other patrons. I didn't see anyone else rushing to get in. I'm very irritated, and I think particularly in difficult times, you should be appreciative of patrons.

(I mean, I personally don't take these library magazines into the bathroom).
