Is The Pit still open? There's not much info on the website since 2022. Also what are the prices per class?

Yes, we are definitely still open. Come on by!

    What's the prices?

Prices differ based on the program, but we always offer a free class! So come try one out.

Do you allow per diem use of the gym (when classes are not in secession) for boxing workouts? I am asking because my son and I will be visiting the area next week and would hate to miss any workouts. If yes, how much do you charge per person.

We often do offer Mat time/mat share opportunities but usually they have to have an instructor still available. Also, hours that appear open on the schedule may be in use by non-public programs (such as the Alzheimer's-Boxing program). Reach out to… Read more

The positives: - the owner is very nice and accommodating for my unusual request of just a single month membership to keep up my fitness and boxing practice while visiting for a month. - some of the trainers were amazing (others not at all (more on that later). - I do enjoy the no set class times so you can just go whenever you're done with work or need to get to the gym "now" because your motivation may not last. - They seemed to do quite a bit of member events and socials outside of the gym (unsure if that's because it was the holiday season or if this typical year round). - When I had a trainer I liked, it was a pretty good workout and can see why some people enjoy 9Round. The negatives: - the trainer makes ALL the difference. I honestly wish I had explored more of who the other trainers would be during the week vs during the weekends. I started adjusting my work schedule to avoid trainers I didn't like... - If you don't like super loud music in a tiny space, this isn't for you. I'd leave with a headache most days because it was just too much. - This isn't a gym for people who need physical accommodations. Some trainers were better than others, but they definitely didn't enjoy the fact I didn't feel comfortable kicking given surgical metal in my ankle and so it hurt like a MoFo to do any of those moves. You also ALWAYS start in Round One with jump rope... that was brutal. - The class times are really bizarre. They're open in the morning for a bit, close for an hour, and then open again for 90 minutes and then are closed all the way until after work hours. It's weird they don't have a lunch time option given how quick and efficient the workout is. I wish I would have realized that before signing up. - They make you switch your stance all the time (fighter stance to non-dominate stance) and even within the same combo. While I get what they're trying to do (even out the effort on both sides), this lead to me pulling muscles because my form was so off when trying to be SouthPaw vs just staying in my fighter stance. Not to mention it's super confusing to think about it when you're already taxing your system with a hard workout. All in all, I see what people enjoy 9Round and are very loyal to it, but it just wasn't for me. I want more of a mix of weight lifting and cardio and this gym just doesn't offer that type of workout.

There's no class times so you can pop in literally whenever. There are 9 two minute rounds of various cardio kickboxing and strength exercises and theres always a trainer available to help you with your form and make sure you are pushing yourself to the limit! All of this while monitoring your heart rate to make sure you are doing so safely! Stephanie the owner is so sweet and has really put together a killer crew.

I called this time while visiting and found the guest fees were $25. I think its a little high in my opinion so it caused us to work out elsewhere in the next 2 days. The downstairs gym area has changed tremendously. I didn't use it nor am I very familiar with crossfit, so I didn't review the gym based on that. The upstairs is laid out about as good as any gym I've even been to. It's clear a bodybuilder set this up and thought about all the small details. The chest presses generally face the mirror and don't allow anyone to walk in front. The heavier dumbbells have a solo rack at waist high. Cardio machines face away from the weights. All genius. Overall, I only mark down the gym for value due to the high guest fee. Overall, if I were a local, I'd be a member and it would be a 5 star.

Since returning from uni, I decided to look for some studios in my local area (SY Valley) and found Awaken! When I was checking out their Instagram, I really dug the vibes and message shared by the owner. I happened to notice that an Intro to Kickboxing class was being hosted in the coming week and decided to attend! Located next to an old theater, there's lots of parking for the studio. I had seen that the studio was a no shoes policy so I entered, then took off my shoes before walking onto the mat. I got to meet the owner Bridget and she gave a spiel about Awaken and its mission! During the class we were taught some basic kicks and punches that would come up during a regular class at Awaken. She also took time to explain the various types of classes that were offered at the studio. It was a very cool and fun environment that definitely encouraged me to come back. Ever since this class, I purchased a class pack and have been coming back every week! I would become a member but am currently in the midst of transitioning out of university and don't quite have the funds to support a membership at the moment. Nonetheless, I've enjoyed all of my classes I've taken and miss it when I don't go back for a bit. Anyone thinking about checking Awaken out -- go for it! You won't regret it. I highly recommend them!

My kids are very competitive and all we hoped for was the kids to get in some good rolls and learn a technique or two. Decided to hit up local gyms near our hotel location and found Paragon Atascadero, a city we never even heard of. We set everything up through text message with a lady named Mallory and just like that the appointment was set. The gym is located inside a fitness gym which is pretty unique to us. Once we walked in, the lady in the front desk welcome us with open arms. Professor Chris was so welcoming, it was like we already knew each other. I can tell this man loves the art of Jiu Jitsu and the further development of it, in this area. We were the only Asian family in there but everybody that spoke to us was so welcoming and friendly. It was a small town but the people had giant hearts. This is all based off one visit and we got exactly what we were looking for. There is tons of potential for this place to grow. The mat space is huge, it's clean and the professor and coaches seemed very caring. My kids are grey belts, competed in many tournaments and won lots of medals. We been to many gyms to cross train all over Southern California and based off my own assessment, this gym is a must join if you live in the area. Highly recommended.
