They sent some samples over to us to help pick out flavors. They gave us their suggestions on flavors and nailed it! I believe we got just about every flavor of samples they sent over. It was too hard to pick. The popcorn is that good! Erika also helped me perfect our own personal stickers to be placed on the bags. She's the real deal. If your thinking of having a special event or celebration and want to bring something unique and yummy try pirates popcorn. You will not be disappointed. This young lady was scooping out the popcorn kernels with her bare hands-No gloves anywhere in sight. No hairnets worn at any point when the snack was being prepared. No excuses. No apologies or remorse offered for improper handling of food. No visible sanitation grading displayed. Will not be returning!! I would rate a '0' if it were an option. read more

I drove by this location last weekend and decided to pop in. I was impressed with the many popcorn varieties and pleased that they have a variety of sizes, including smaller sized backs for only a few bucks. This is good if you want to just buy a few to try or to hand off as gifts for people visiting. The woman working behind the counter was friendly; after I told her I have never been there before, she kindly - yet very quickly - explained the concept of the store, the different offerings, the different sizes, and said I could taste anything I wanted. I do wish I took her up on the last part. One of the flavors I purchased was chocolate with peanut butter drizzle. She said it was really good and reminded her of a Reese's Cup, which excited me; as soon as I got into the car, I opened the bag to eat it. I probably ate 5 pieces of popcorn and was over it. It was definitely stale-tasting; I'm not saying it WAS stale (I could hear popcorn being popped while I was in the store) but it is just that harder taste I do not particularly like. I guess I just don't like popcorn unless it is fresh and buttery or unless it's super processed or something, like the white cheddar popcorn you can buy at the gas station... I have a few bags of other flavors remaining in my pantry - white cheddar and caramel - and I may try them this weekend when my friend comes to visit. I will update this review or leave a tip if those happen to be a lot better. Overall, I would like to support this business, so if I find another flavor that I like, I will make sure to report here. I attached a photo of the very last bag of popcorn we will ever order from this establishment. My wife and I regularly order popcorn from this business as we try to support local establishments. I had just left this morning having picked up two more orders when I realized I needed an urgent order for an operating room fundraiser. I called back and spoke with Emily and told her I needed a sweet and salty party pack urgently. When she told me it would take 30 minutes I politely told her I needed it sooner than that and could I just buy the sweet and salty party pack I saw on the floor when I left. She informed me that she would not sell me that party pack as it was being picked up by another customer in an hour. I asked her If she could simply sell that to me and they would have plenty of time to make another, "we won't sell custom orders" was her answer. Custom?? I was speechless at the logic and knew that anything else I said I would probably have to apologize for. I am now racing NEEDLESSLY to Kinston, North Carolina to pick up an order there from the Peach House (Who dropped everything to make a special order for me :-)) and have honestly got more upset by the mile at the inanity of it all.As much as we like to support local Greenville businesses, our future food gifts will be handled by two well-known guys, Harry and David!! read more

It was ok, for some reason the corn tasted a little stale. The cheese popcorn tasted good, but didn't have that melt in your mouth feel, and had a slight aftertaste. Friendly staff as we were greeted upon arrival. They allowed us to look on our own but let us know they were there to help if needed. Good choice of flavors in a variety of sizes. We tried the Salt & Vinegar and Yellow Cheddar. Both were very tasty. The Yellow Cheddar was your classic cheesy flavor. The Salt & Vinegar was flavorful put not overpowering. read more

Have had this popcorn numerous times and not rating taste or quality. Today when my mother, daughter and I-10 months pregnant and CRAVING this popcorn, walked in, we all spoke to the owner behind the counter. He gave a plastic smile and said nothing. So again I spoke and said hello louder-no response. Finally a college student working there greeted us and said to let us know if we needed help. The other owner-female-was also working behind counter and said NOTHING. 3 minutes later, a white man walked in and BOTH owners and student tripped over each other almost to greet him and sell product and offer customer service. At that point, I was skeptical, but brushed it off. Then a minute later, a white woman and toddler in tote walked in. SAME REACTION only more sacchrine. At this point, I took popcorn out of my mother and daughter's hands and walked out. Great tasting product, horrible customer service and very discriminatory today. I will no longer give them my business. Pirates Popcorn needs to take a page out of Chick-fil-A's customer service play book. read more
