We hadn't even entered the store and was looking at the display at the front only to be growled at by the lady to not touch anything, then shoved in front of us were we we looking at bags. She really made us feel uncomfortable so we backed away and then she stood in front of the little doorway, so it was clear to us that we weren't allowed to enter. No smile, no hello. The worst service ever!!!! So we went elsewhere and bought our 8bags. Your loss. Your bad attitude. Don't waste your time going!!!!

I made the mistake of not checking the "non-recommended Yelp reviews" located at the bottom of…read moreCuir's listing. It seems very coincidental that these hidden reviewers had the exact same bad experience that I did when trying to go to the store and the only reviews that easily appear are the good ones. My family and I arrived at 2:50pm on a Wednesday afternoon via taxi, specifically aiming to buy authentic Italian leather bags to bring back home. When we got there however, the bags were out on display, but the entrance was blocked with two chairs and a cardboard tube. The woman inside was on the phone and very abrasive, shooing us away and claiming that she was not open until 3. From what I could see, it's a little hole in the wall with only a handful of unfashionable (and not vey soft looking) boring leather pieces. I echo the sentiment that it was not worth the trek.

A truly lovely leather shop in Stresa, one of two stores owned by the same family, that offers…read moreexceptional advice and customer service. My wife went in there on our first day in Stresa, after asking in the Tourist Office on the waterfront if any local stores sold luggage. (One of our large suitcases had lost a wheel and half its handle on the trip over from the USA.) Valentina, one of the owners and fluent in English, was so gracious and accommodating in showing my wife various pieces, then offering to bring in a Samsonite suitcase from their other store for her purchase the next morning. I don't know how Valentina could have been any more delightful to deal with, despite her protracted hassle getting "the system" to electronically accept our passport info so we could claim a refund on the VAT at the Milan airport. That was on our second day in Stresa. On our third and last day in Stresa, a Sunday, we were on the Lake Maggiore Express from morning through early evening. My wife kept commenting that she wished she had bought a very distinctive handbag in Casamonti that would be an instant and useful remembrance of our vacation in Italy, but she feared she had missed the opportunity. As soon as the ferry from Locarno docked at 19:10, my wife raced over to Casamonti because Valentina had told her on Saturday the store would open until 19:00 that Sunday. Valentina and her mother had almost shut the store, yet they welcomed her in just like an old friend and took the time to show her several purses. My wife was so thrilled to have another purchase from Casamonti. Although I don't think we will have the opportunity to return to Stresa, if we do, I suspect my wife will make a beeline to Casamonti!

We were there for 6 days and this was the worst experience of our trip. When I inquired about a scratch on a bag, the owner made it seem like I had made it and got extremely defensive on a simple question. The quality of goods is extremely subpar. I wish I had read other recent reviews before entering this shop.

Do not purchase goods from this shop…read more I bought a leather rucksack bag last October cost €300. As it was winter on my return to the UK I only started using it in April of this year. After two uses the green coating started to wear and the base leather show through. I contacted Stefano at the shop who totally dismissed my issues and said I'd left it soaking in water which was completely outrageous given I spent a huge amount of money! He tried to sell my another bag but refused to acknowledge any problem. I am left with an expensive bag which cannot be restored without significant cost. This is an outdoor bag which should be resilient and strong enough to cope with weather conditions not something for display in a glass case. I bought an Italian product assuming quality and got a very poorly manufactured item rubbish quality and a complete rip off. No acknowledgement of customer issues and no customer service. If you are looking to buy proper Italian craftsmanship look elsewhere.
