The Pint Shop in downtown Birmingham (close to New Street) offers what must be the most stupendous selection of keg craft beers that I've seen so far: 21 of them - plus 6 hand pumps. Thus, this fairly new establishment makes a worthwhile addition to the local bar scene, especially since it is right next door from the finest real ale pub, The Wellington. Combine the two, and - as a beer lover - you won't have to look elsewhere in all of Birmingham for a night's "drinking engagement". This place, naturally, attracts a *very* different crowd from that at The Welly. The young urban crowd, i.e. Not much in terms of atmosphere, but with such a beer range, that won't be essential. Good range of spirits, too. However, there's a nag: The prices. Expect to spend UKP 6 and higher on a pint of keg beer. That I consider quite a premium outside of London! Staff were friendly. Of course, with young urban folk, things can get a bit rambunctious towards closing time. Another major difference from The Wellington. ;) - But highly recommended for the keg range alone. read more
