Small circular restaurant in Bournemouth, a short walk from the coast and from many local hotels…read more Went on a Thursday night and the restaurant was generally empty with only 2 other tables seated while I was there. Staff was helpful and promptly delivered my dish. The garlic chicken was buttery, tasty, hot and fresh. I could hear it sizzling as they cooked it as the restaurant was so quiet and empty. The garlicky, butter sauce was yearning for a crispy piece of Italian bread to mop up the remaining sauce with but alas, none ever arrived. An Italian restaurant serving no Italian bread with dinner? Unheard of unless the waiter forgot because the restaurant was too busy? The accompanying pasta dish was fine, nothing spectacular. Overall, Valentino's menu consists of a limited number of main course selections as well as pizzas. Two beers are offered, both Italian (one on draft, one in bottles). A selection of wines is also available. My waiter disappeared after delivering my dish and a separate waiter brought over my bill -- odd, considering I was one of the only patrons.

Walked to the area from a nearby hotel looking for somewhere to have dinner. Saw this place had…read moresome nice outdoor seating and went inside. I waited a while before a server came, by then I was ready to order. I was surprised they did not have fountain drinks, only warm bottles of soda. After I ordered, another guy was seated outside. He sat there a while without anyone going to his table and he left. My appetizer took about 20 minutes to come out. I ate half of it with the intention of taking the rest of it with me for later. When the lasagna I ordered was brought to the table, I had been there for almost an hour. I also had to stop the server from taking away my partially eaten appetizer. I was expecting a slice of lasagna, but it appears they made them one at a time in a skillet in the oven. It was served extremely hot, enough that they put a sticker on the skillet saying so. The cheese around the edge was burned, and it ended up being a meat, cheese, and noodle mess. I ate as much as I wanted to, then waited for my server to come back so I could get the bill and box. Eventually, I was one of only 2 tables left in the place, and none of the servers were visible. I saw there was a way to pay with my phone, so I just ate what I was going to take with me, paid, and left just under 2 hours after I originally arrived. Far too long for 1 person to have 1 appetizer and 1 entrée.

As a group of friends, we arranged a meal out at Enzos which was booked some time in advance. We…read morehave done this on numerous occasions at the same restaurant as we have always enjoyed our meals there, today however was a disaster! It all began with us arriving 10 minutes prior to our booked time of 7:30 and were shooed back with the waving of hands because we were too early. We waited a few minutes and were shown to our table. Drinks were ordered and the gin and tonics arrived as gin and lemonades - perhaps an easy mistake and it was rectified so on to the meal. The 9 starters were all perfectly acceptable but when the main courses arrived it all fell apart. A senior member of staff walked out in despair complaining the staff were not trained and he could not do it all himself. 4 of us ordered the Tournados Rossini which arrived with foul tasting pate which when removed from the steak gave off a terrible smell so we asked the waiter to smell it. The outcome was that the 'chef' insisted it was fine but smelt like it did because it was duck pate this later became the fault of the Madeira sauce. Having had this meal on a number of occasions in Enzos, as well as being a trained chef myself, we were all fully aware that something was wrong... it was off! We asked to speak to the manager but the older man in the restaurant pointed towards the kitchen and when asked at the servery no-one in the kitchen the owners son, also called Enzo, did not step forward so there was no-one to manage the havoc that was reigning throughout the establishment. We settled or bill for the starters and drinks we had had and even left a little extra as it is not the young staffs fault they have not been trained but we were not paying for the main courses that were not consumed although they even tried to charge for the gin and lemonades we did not order. There were no apologies only excuses! We are now waiting to see if our insides are going to be affected but just in case I have retained two portions of the rancid pate for environmental heath if necessary! As a restaurant that we visited quite regularly being locals we will never return to now.
