About two months ago, my wallet was stolen along with my main debit card for our business expense…read moreaccount with SCFU. After going through the painful process of cancelling cards, requesting new IDs, and relinking auto drafted accounts, I believed that everything was taken care of. Little did I know, the main business account card was automatically replaced to a default account with Amazon.com. This default account that we had listed was another SCFU personal account that we no longer use. Occasionally, we will deposit money into this account to cover share loan payments that are taken out of this account. I had no idea that this account was still listed as a default by Amazon.com and all purchases were through them were being drafted from this account. We had PayPal set up as the default and Amazon says they don't understand why this happened. On Thursday, March 15th we received a call from SCFU informing us that the share loan was not able to be covered due to lack of funds in the account. Upon checking this account online, I realized that since March 5th, our account had been charged 12 late fees of $36 each, for the overdrafted account. Over ten days we had been charged $432 in NSF fees and this was the first time that we were made aware of the issue. The manager said that the bank had sent out four notices to our mailing address but we received nothing in that ten day period. Being a small business, we open every single piece of mail that we receive and absolutely nothing was sent from SCFU. My wife and I have both had both personal and business accounts with SCFU over the past 15 years and you would think that after trusting this bank with hundreds of thousands of dollars, they would offer a little bit of understanding with this issue. It was an oversight on our part with the account, but to rack up 12 NSF fees in 10 days without any notice from SCFU seems a bit uncalled for and to tell me that they had sent four notices to our physical address when we received nothing is deceptive. In the end, the manager said that all he could do was refund three of the NSF fees. He also said that he would email us a confirmation of the refund which we never received. Our physical address and email address was double checked in their system before we left the bank. At this point we are about to begin the process of transferring our business expense account to Bank of America which hosts our main business account and cutting ties with SCFU altogether. This will be a huge hassle since we have so many business expenses that are autodrafted from the SCFU account. I would rather do this than to continue doing business with a bank with poor communication procedures that obviously doesn't value it's long time customers. M Whittington
