Homeownership is hard. It comes with decisions. BIG ONES. Decisions that are not only costly, but…read morecomplex. Making the wrong decision on a contractor can not only cost you monetarily, but can have a heavy price if the work is done cheaply or by cutting corners. This being said, roofing contractors have gotten a bad name over the last decade or so due to the prevalence of "storm chasers", or contractors that travel around, quick to promise new roofing and exteriors fully paid for by insurance and without a cost to the homeowner. There are contractors who lack integrity and honesty, and will pull any string available to get you to sign for subpar workmanship and materials, while you pay the premium. Enter Responsive Roofing. My first encounter with Ron was several years ago, when I had been in my home for a few years. At the time, I was worried about the age of my roof and had called his company to come inspect it. To my surprise, Ron told me that while my roof was older, it still had some time on it and that he would suggest coming back in the next 3-5 years to check again. I've gotta admit, I was impressed, if not a little shocked. He didn't try to use fear tactics, or sell me on something I didn't need. He spoke honestly, and gave me an understanding of the true situation and timeline I was looking at. As you can guess, this left an impression on me. Fast forward to summer of 2025. Remembering my encounter with Ron several years back, I again called him to inspect my roof and give me his fair opinion. He of course did exactly that. It was time to move forward with our project. We decided to add on improved shingles and venting, new gutters, and some Hardie Board siding to replace wood paneling that was deteriorated on the front of our house. Such a large purchase is nerve wracking, to say the least. But I cannot stress enough how absolutely ACCURATE the name of this business is. "Responsive Roofing" is not just a name. It encompasses every aspect of how Ron runs his business. From promptly answering every possible question I could have, to providing estimates and brainstorming solutions for what we wanted to accomplish, I could not be more impressed. His crews were friendly and polite, and left not a trace that they were here each day. Ron was on the job site, and was so proactive in protecting our landscaping and house exterior so that we never had to worry that something would go wrong. The finished work (see pictures) was impeccable. Every detail was perfect, and the value of our home and increase in curb appeal was everything we could have wanted in this project. Lastly, I learned SO much from Ron. It is evident that it is important to him to make sure his clients understand exactly what they are purchasing, as well as the function of each part. At no part in this process did I stress that I had made the wrong decision because Ron's responsiveness and attention to detail was so strong that I never needed to. Today, as I admire my home every time I pull into the driveway, I am so thankful that I chose Responsive Roofing. I sincerely hope that anyone in need of roofing, siding, or exterior work will consider them as well. You won't regret it!

Before my mom passed away, she hired Tip Top Roofing to repair her roof. I hired Tip Top Roofing to…read morerepair the roof on my residence twice and once to replace the flashing on my rental property. I thought that meant I was considered a "good" customer. So imagine my surprise when the following happened. Two weeks ago, I put my rental property up for sale and immediately got an offer from a potential buyer. Because the roof was old and he knew I had Tip Top check the roof a few weeks ago, he wanted a statement from Tip Top indicating whether the roof needed repairs at this time. I thought it would be a routine deal when I phoned Tip Top and asked for a one-sentence email stating the roof on my rental property required no repairs at this time. (About 1 month earlier, Tip Top Roofing employee Jeremy had checked it as well as the roof on my residence. He had phoned and said both looked okay and didn't need any repair now.) The woman who answered Tip Top's phone was uncooperative (which is a polite way of saying "bitchy") even after I explained that I had a house sale pending and the buyers' wanted info regarding the condition of the roof. Eventually, she agreed to have Jeremy email the needed statement. This was on a Thursday. I heard nothing on Friday. When I still hadn't heard anything by Monday afternoon, I phoned and was told Jeremey called in. On Tuesday, I finally got an email from Jeremy. Did I also mention Tip Top wanted a $150 fee (!)? At this point, I contacted my realtor who told me I shouldn't have to pay more than $25 or $30. When he found out they wanted $150, he told me to tell them to "F" it. Happily, the sale went through without any input from Tip Top. Given the above experience I would NEVER use Tip Top Roofing again. Tip Top treats customers like crap. P.S. Got an insulting phone call from Jeremy on 5/31/19 pressing me to change my Yelp review.

But it simply wasn't the price. The day of the roofing, the entire crew acted as one team, each knowing their jobs and working efficiently. As the day progressed, the team leader reported to us the progress. We were also impressed with the comprehensive cleanup of our yard. The company even thoroughly ran a magnetic device, very thoroughly which picked up the stray nails in our yard, thus removing any dangers when our yard is cut. The quality is totally 5 stars, as is the value. They fulfilled every service requested! Dennis & Amy Johnson

We started the process in early January and were told the windows would not be ready until perhaps early March, but were pleasantly surprised when Mike said they were ready early. We would have had them the first week of February had it not been for the famous below 0 degree temperatures in the area that week. We had them installed the second week of February instead. Pros: -Received and had windows installed earlier than anticipated. -Took 2.5 days for all of our 27 windows and back glass door replacement. Due to cold temperatures, they worked one at a time so the house wouldn't get too cold. -was honest and fair on pricing and received referral bonus up front. -Mike always answered our calls with questions promptly and personally would come by to inspect and/or help facilitate letting his vendors in if needed. -You could tell the difference in drafts in the corrected areas from inside day 1. No further drafts and they look great! Cons: -4-5 months after installation and 3 of our 27 windows have leaks. We alerted Mike to this and he sent his worker to take a look - they said it was due to the trim on the outside that they didn't replace. Before installation, they indicated that it is not part of their services to replace. However, they didn't tell us before or during that our trims were so old that they would leak - we would have replaced them prior to the new windows if we knew this. We asked if we needed to replace them before and they said no. One of the windows that is leaking does not even have trim on it. When they came out to resolve, they added caulk around the trim and bent flashing for us for the front windows. The flashing should have been installed in the initial installation to prevent leaks. We are not able to get it installed until the new trim pieces are up... Even though they did not inform us about possible leaks, they should have removed the trim and put a water barrier in place before installation and before new trim was able to be installed. -Mike and his installers have a bit of an issue with taking accountability for issues. We were disappointed when his installers broke the interior of a window upon installation - it was safe to use, and they put cardboard over it, but the resolution took 20 seconds and Mike's installers insist it was somehow the manufacturer's fault. It took weeks for us to have this corrected, even though, again, resolution took 20 seconds. -While in the process of service correction for said window, the manufacturer was inflexible on timing and was scheduling more than a week out. Mike's response was that it isn't in his hands. No apology for the inconvenience of the broken window or the inflexibility of his vendor. -The manufacturing vendor cancelled day of (1 hour before). Reschedule availability wasn't until 10 days later. -The caulking the install team did had bubbles and cracks in some windows and just didn't look like a professional did it. When we told Mike of this issue, he said caulking is an "art" and his people are really just installers and don't need to be perfect at caulking. We personally feel that if installing windows is 100% of their jobs, caulking would be part of that job and they should look 100% well done. We had to redo some of it right off the bat. -Every issue that came up, Mike would just say he hoped we could focus on the positive aspects of the experience. It felt very dismissive. -They left aluminum scraps scattered across the backyard where our young children play. Cleanup in the back specifically was just not done to standards. We referred him to my mother's windows and they generally did okay, but did break one of her personal stained glass art by not being careful. No compensation or resolution was offered, minus an apology. We appreciated his team's work and like the products in general, but there is definitely room for improvement in the customer service department and potentially the product itself with the leaks. Considering part of his selling point was 100% satisfaction, we were left disappointed in that aspect.
